      OMG! Thanks for this video. I am at work in an office, watching and doing these exercises. I am in pain but my left shoulder / upper arm feels good already. It was very tight and painful earlier and has been for the past few days. From now on, I will perform these exercises everyday for both of my arms. Thank you again.

      when my wrist 180 dregrees rotated and I lift my arm up. half way it starts to hurt a bit more and I feel like a pull or pinch my arm locks up and I than kinda just jerk down. It is almost like reflex.

    After 40yrs of lifting keyhole surgery in one shoulder and several shots in both I discovered the answer for me. Tried all the physio and stretching excercises without success, then I started using the rowing machine, going hard on that for ten minutes a day totally fixed it. Four years later I do the same just twice a week and my shoulders feel great!

      Has it gone better? I started having pain for the last couple of months and did xray and ultrasound and got my result today, and it’s subacromial bursitis.😕 i am wondering if i should just rest and not use this arm until the pain is gone, or should i just push through the pain and exercise. The doc told me that my shoulder has inflammation as well. So confused.

    Thank you so much for sharing this video. I injured my right shoulder a few days ago. I was so much pain, I couldn't lift up my arm. I was just applying ibuprofen gel my gp gave me. I didn't realise I had to exercise the arm whilst the pain was acute. I started the table movement yesterday and I have already seen a difference this morning. Hopefully I will move to the wall crawl. My left arm is frozen for almost a year . I didn't know about these exercises. Thankfully the righ hand will heal faster with these exercises. Your video is God sent Hopefully I will be able to lift full arm weight. I am so grateful. ❤

    This is the most straight-forward and clear explanation on TH-cam I've seen and I've watched literally dozens of these videos on shoulder pain. I'm trying to figure out if I have bursitis, torn RC, shoulder impingement , tendonitis, frozen shoulder or osteoporosis. I've been playing guitar for 45yrs so my left arm which is the shoulder giving me trouble is in the 'playing position' for several hours everyday. I've been exercising with resistance training and have a history of doing so most of my life but let myself slide the past few years being just absorbed in work through all of the covid garbage. I've been back in the gym and stretching regularly this past year but now my shoulder is giving me a lot pain moving on certain planes. It feels like there's some mild spasming in there too at night. Be interesting to see if this regimen of exercises helps improve the condition. Thank you

    • @RehabScience
      @RehabScience  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for the feedback. I’m glad the video was helpful. If your a range of motion is still decent in your shoulder, then it is unlikely that you have frozen shoulder. Considering the time off during Covid, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re getting a bit of bursitis and/or rotator cuff tendinopathy as these often occur together. These types of issues will especially flareup when a person has had time off from exercise, and the tissues have become a bit deconditioned. Give the excess a try and let me know how it goes. If you progress gradually and allow the tissues to adapt, I wouldn’t be surprised if things improve significantly in a few weeks.

    I cannot believe you just posted this video. This is exactly what I've been looking for to help with my shoulder pain. The pain starts precisely where you pointed to - the subacromial space, and then proceeds down into the bicep, and some creeps into the forearm. My doctor believes I may have an impingement, and I have an appt with my ortho in about 3 weeks. Meanwhile, I'm going to use the first two exercises you showed to see if I can get the pain to calm down a bit. Thank you so much for posting!

    • @RehabScience
      @RehabScience  2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I’m so glad the video was helpful! The first two exercises will help keep your shoulder from losing mobility and can help reduce pain in many cases. Shoulder impingement is one of the most common shoulder problems, especially for pain in this area, so it sounds like you are on the right track.

    Funny how subtle differences to an exercise help. I’ve been doing the uppercut motion with emphasising on controlling the driving movement with my elbow but keeping my palm parallel - I found this helped with my teris minor and around that area. I’ve also have the problem at the front as you describe and the twist into the uppercut really works well, thank you!

    I am in my late sixties. A few weeks ago I had the flu shot. I thought the nurse had gone in a bit high. Since then I have this incredible pain with movement. Using my arm at normal level is not a problem. Lifting or stretching or even backward movement causes intense pain for a couple of seconds even when I return to normal. Initially the burning pain radiated to my elbow, which I associated with some nerve involvement. My GP wants to “see.” I will try these exercises and see how it goes. Thank you.

    I’m so happy I found your channel! I’m a few months out from shoulder surgery (and forearm surgery as well!) and I’ve been having some complications. I really love how you give easy to follow, yet medically informative talking points, because I am the type of person who likes to know what’s going on in there! I’m a professional string player who had multiple injuries from overuse. I had RTS, lateral epicondylitis, De Quervain’s, FCR tendinitis from my shoulder sling, a ganglion cyst that was pushing my radial nerve off its track, two rotator cuff tears, labrum tear, bursitis, biceps tenodesis, bone spurs, and biceps tendonitis that ended up being a complication from doing pt while my forearm was also in the process of healing and strengthening. So like I said-I like to know what’s going on in there, so I then know how to fix things! Thanks for helping us all get better!

    I have this tendenopathy and bursitis and have been doing several of your techniques for the past couple weeks. I’ve had much improvement with the feeling of impingement by working on the subscapularis, but I cannot seem to get past this particular pain that you describe here. (It does also affect the outside of my arm) I’d say my pain is about a 4…can you say how long should one expect to just do this assisted mobility before change in pain level? Thanks for your very helpful videos!

    • @RehabScience
      @RehabScience  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Glad to hear the video has been helpful so far! In terms of how to progress, I would transition to active mobility when you can complete lift your arm with mild pain (4/10) or less. Until that point, I would recommend performing the table or wall slide. As another option, you can use a broom or a golf club and complete 50% of the movement with your injured arm and have the painful side do the other 50%. This is a nice way to gradually progress the amount of weight that is put on the painful arm. Does that make sense?

      I wouldn't push into pain as this can make the issue worse. Go right up to the point of pain and then back off. As the area desensitizes, you will gradually gain more mobility.@@dinchtfx

Appreciate your work

    • @RehabScience
      @RehabScience  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No problem! I would recommend starting with an isometric contraction with the upper cut since movements causes pain. For this variation, stand with your arm straight down at your side and your palm facing forward. Then, push forward forcefully with your palm into a wall or something else that is immovable. Perform 4-5 reps and hold each one for 30-45 seconds. Isometrics have been shown in the research to help reduce pain.

I am absolutely amazed how I can do these exercises with no pain at all! I have extreme mistrust of mainstream medicine so anything I can do for myself is a win. I will see my most excellent chiropractor in 3 days but I expect I will be doing much better by then. P.S.
