    I thought your idea for adding a side burner to your Blackstone is pretty ingenious. Mainly because there are a lot of people that have earlier models. As for my self, I recently got the Blackstone 28" Rangetop Combo with Deep Fryer. I'm really liking it a lot. It has two separate burners just to the right of the griddle. There are selves on each end, the one on the range end has a removable builtin cutting board with the trash bag holder right below the cutting board. I got it at Walmart as the B3 model is sold exclusively at Walmart only.

    That is great. I have only cooked burgers and dogs twice on mine then here in Perth NY winter came and I now wait until Memorial day (if not later) for grilling weather... "Now how do I hook up a burner to boil water? If only I knew of an engineer that could...Wait! Maybe Dave has an idea. I'll go check." Of course you did. Throw the burner on the unused bottom shelf when done cooking and the cover still fits. I am constantly amazed at your skill in diagnosing a fixable problem be it this or that or how to bring your tools out in 1 trip. Then coming up with a solution that is so perfect that a chemist like myself has to say "And that's why he does this and I do not." 5 dimensional chess must be your thing. Next level teaching. I have thought about the side burner for 2 months. You showed us how in under 10 minutes. WOW

      @@stebstebanesier6205 Steb, I'm happy with the performance of the burner. l read the negative reviews and it seems some of the units were better quality than others. Also, some didn't know how to adjust the flame. Like I say in the video, it's turn out the bolt not in that makes the flame blue. I've had no problems with adjusting the flame with the manifold valves but they are a little finicky. One thing I did that helped was take a drill bit and dress the burner holes so they are smoother. Helped a lot. This is a China product and certainly not up to the standards we are used to but I don't know of any other like it on the market. All the other burners are way too hot on the low end. Hope this helps you decide. Thanks, Dave

    Nice setup, excellent presentation. I have added a couple of adjustable propane regulators in mine. That way I can use several appliances at once and they all get as much fuel as they need. Plus it can boost the heat output on Blackstone or BBQ grill. The regulators and all the hoses have propane quick disconnects and I have a couple of splitters. I can put 3 hoses together if I want to run a propane fire pit 30 ft away from the propane tank.

      Hmm, you might be right. Blackstone actually now has a separate burner you can buy. I haven't looked at it closely but from what I've seen it looks a lot like any other fish cooker. That's fine...I've had several fish cookers beside my 'stone but they never could get the flame low enough to just simmer or slow boil. Always too hot. That's why I came up with this version. I'd be happy to do an un-boxing and trial if they'll send me one LOL. Thanks!

    Dave, I noticed your wok. If that's the $17.00 carbon steel wok from Wal-Mart, it's well worth the money. We bought two of the cheap $5.00 woks at Wal-Mart and the black coating came off in the food. Their both in the trash now.

    • @NextWithDave
      @NextWithDave  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Buddy. Yes, you are right. It is the steel wok from WM. It seasoned pretty well but I'm going to get the thin cast iron one this week. I had the real thick Lodge cast iron wok but found it took too long to heat up and a pain to clean. If I was cooking for a lot of people for a long time the Lodge would be good because it holds the heat but it's just me and the boss lady. Thanks, have fun and eat well. Dave

    • @NextWithDave
      @NextWithDave  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question. I actually had sold that griddle unit to a subscriber and when I replaced it I never added a surround. Reason is that I'm now not cooking for as many people and really didn't need the extra space. Also, it is kind of a pain to put up and down every time you go out to cook. If you leave it up the cover does not fit right. I was using a plastic tarp which didn't look great. So, for you, and your situation the surround might be great. Thanks, Dave

    • @solafarms2295
      @solafarms2295 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Next With Dave I see I currently cover mine after every cook as it is outside on the porch I could see the surround being an issue. I plan on incorporating my griddle into an outdoor deck by the pool this winter might try a hard cover till then and then I could leave a surround up. Anyway great videos and love the simple things you come up with!!

    You need to fasten that leg support as a small kick or a movement of the grill the leg could come out and the sudden shift could cause a pot of hot liquid to off the burner. It would be terribly be a bad day if it was hot oil and it ignited. I would use to two legs fast to the support bars and a a locking pin I the support bars on the blackstone grill locking ut to the grill. Like the idea but as it is it is very unsafe. If you incorporate those suggestions I offered it will be a lot matter and much safer. I might even faster the burner to the shelf to keep any movement done that could cause a pot to move with hot liquids especially hot oils.

    • @NextWithDave
      @NextWithDave  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rick, thank you for your your input. Please note that when you tighten the screws below the rail receivers you do lock the shelf to the unit. I agree that two supports would be better than one and you could permanently attach them to the shelf. However, my experience so far has been that the shelf is sufficiently supported. That is, it is sufficiently supported for my use and conditions. As I said in the video, I’m showing how I did it to give you an idea so you can set up your own system which you feel best suits your situation. Each person is responsible for their own design, installation and safety. Again, thank you for your comment. I’m sure others will benefit from the discussion.

    MY main concern is if your using the right most burner on high the heat from it could overtime cause that hose to leak and lead to an unfortunate accident.

    • @NextWithDave
      @NextWithDave  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand your concern. In the video, I have the burner on the griddle, on a wooden board for display purposes only. It should be obvious that the burner is not meant to be used in that location while the griddle is turned on. I go to great lengths to show the burner is meant to be used on the the side shelf. At that location the hose is secured to the bottom shelf and loops from left to right around to enter the burner from the right side. Away from the griddle plate and burners. While not impossible for wear to occur, it is improbable. Like many tools we work with, common sense and due diligence is required for safe use. This is exactly why I state that you are responsible for your own safety. Thank you for watching and your concern. This discussion can serve as instruction for others who choose to make these modifications.
