- Welcome!
On this build, we're leaving no stone unturned. It's going to be one of the wildest Interceptor 650's ever built, and one that was built with the intention of being RIDDEN! Not only are we going to add a bunch of power, we're going to be addressing the suspension and brakes as well. Ohlin's makes an adjustable preload kit that we'll be putting on once the turbo setup is up and running, and we'll be upgrading to some EBC Sintered Pads for some better stopping power.
We're keeping our eyes out for a good set of tires (they're 18's front and rear). If you have a suggestion for a more performance oriented set of kicks, drop a comment and let us know. The customer wants to run the fattest tire we can squeeze on the back within reason, and upgrade the front tire to something much more grippy.
We went ahead and switched to a Cafe Racer seat and tail section, and I'll be shortening the rear of the bike as it just ruins the look to have the frame running way back past the axle. The side covers are going to be color matched to the baker-express theme of the bike and it's going to look super sharp! All of the engine covers are going to be ceramic coated "burnt bronze" which is going to take this bike to the next level.
As said before, we're running a Genuine Garrett GT12, non-intercooled but with water/methanol injection. The final shots of the build video will be done on 10psi, which in my mind is a very conservative boost level considering the methanol injection.
In part two, we'll be finishing off the turbo fabrication, getting the clutch installed, along with the oil feed/oil drain taken care of, installing the powertronic ecu, the wideband......and by the end of the video, going for a short first ride. Boost will be way down, I'll be starting at pretty much 0psi and slowly working it in. I'm always extra cautious on customer builds, even more so with the bike being only a few years old.

A Masterpiece!
This why I like the pure mechanical bikes, very customizable. The modern bikes are very difficult and expensive to do experiment with.
Yes! I have been waiting for a turbo RE. I want to eventually turbo my RE Super Meteor.
Yes it really needs one, slowest 650 ever 😅
Excited about the EFI route your going! But I still say you should do a twin turbo Goldwing build. I have a donor. LOL!
Oh man this is a fun project for sure
I can't wait to see how you transform this little retro bike!👊
THIS IS INSANE, im in love with this build, to be honest, is the best turbo set so far
Отличная работа!!! Привет из России.
That's awesome. And the gauges and handlebar look like a happy muppet is smiling at you.
Awesome job.!!
MAN THATS WHAT I ASKED FOR YOU DID IT
Man love the hard work
Great job bro
Bridgestone BT46 seems to be the performance tire of choice.
Waiting for start the engine
Next video, just rode it for the first time last night after spending a solid few days diagnosing a no-start after the Powertronic install.
Next video wen ?@@DoctorMotorcycle
My god you are the greatest
Can't imagine what power figures a 865 cc big bore kit with turbo can achieve
100whp and buckets of torque!
@@DoctorMotorcycle please do this project in the future 865 turbo'd
You need to buy hitchcocks 850 big bore kit from england 🇬🇧
If we're going to do engine work, I'd much sooner do a cam upgrade than a big bore. The Compression Ration on the 865 kit is much too high for boost.
Ohhh man....ur doing great 👍
Awesome!!!
Thanks for posting this video, I am definitely interested on how the bike handles a turbo.
Thanks, we'll see. We're going to start at 0-1psi and slowly work it in a psi at a time and see how the fuel system handles it. I suspect the injectors will be maxed out at 6-7psi
@@DoctorMotorcycle na m8, gotta full send it to 1bar. let's see some heads go off xD
@@MrinmayDhar If it was my bike with a methanol setup, I'd be running 12psi bare minimum. But this is a customers bike, so the tune is going to be conservative on 10psi 👍
👍👍👌👌🤘🤘🤙🤙✌️✌️ one word: Impressive!!
Thanks Gary
One man army ❤❤❤
Turbo everything 😂!
Interested to see how this motor holds up to boost.
It can easily handle 865 cc big bore kit with stock gearbox with 2-3 more clutch plates added to stock clutch and output like 70-75 bhp although the stock 650 con rod and piston might not be able to handle too much boost
@sv6743 the added cylinder pressure, heat and torque from a turbo are a whole different ballgame. I wouldn't be surprised if it lunched big end bearings, pistons or rods, but we'll see
@@Legotruck82 yea agree NA engines are totally not meant for turbocharging or handing the stresses caused due to turbocharging
always wonder how the engine oil feed to the turbo works on a motorcycle. the motorcycle oil has a friction modifier for the gearbox. Is it safe to use that to lubricate the turbo?
Love the videos! There is a Orange 2000 buell lightning on offer up for a $1000 in Goodyear. Thought of you. Would be a sick revival. God bless brother
Nice! IDK what it is with offerup but I've had such little luck with it that I just moved on from it.
@@DoctorMotorcycle That's just people in general 😂
Try to increase a oversquare engine air intake then seen what happen!
Waiting
Bro even modifies the parts used for modifications
lol the airbox
🔥🔥🔥
😍
Awesome build.. clubman hndlebars from?
I'd strongly advise against them, they don't have enough pullback and are extremely uncomfortable. We're actually switching to Continental GT bars
What turbo is that?
👍 👍 👍 👍
So no intercooler?
Really I am Waiting for end Result
Err, is there gonna be an oil cooler?
Have you ever turbo-ed a sub 400cc bike? if no, then why not? is it not worth the effort? or something else like can't find turbos, etc.? I was thinking about doing something with the 220cc single cylinder of a bike from the scrapyard, i was thinking about mounting to my mountain bicycle, making like a crude dirtbike, that engine makes about 20hp and 20nm of torque, idk if that would be too much, i have a lot of engine options tho, and the fact everyone of them costs the same (less than 50$ 💀)
I'm not opposed to small engine turbocharging, but there's no money in it so it probably won't ever happen on the channel. Trying to get away from the smaller/cheaper end bikes as you end up in a place where nobody wants to pay to have work done. Even on bigger bikes, if it's older and Carb'd, the likelihood that someone is going to pay to have one built is pretty slim, and of the people that do, the budget for parts and labor is so small that you're always dealing with issues that result from building an old bike with cheap parts.
@@DoctorMotorcycle From a business prospect, makes a lot of sense. 👍🏻
Part 2
😮😮😮🎉🎉🎉🎉
What “racer” class allows turbos?!
No idea, I was trying to imply street racer but not put that in the title
Try with a honda magna vf1100 🤭
Just put 110/80 and 140/70 BT46s on it. The rim is really too narrow for anything wider if you actually ride the bike
For sure, I'll look into those. The back tire on these bikes are so skinny stock!
Exhaust will not hold for high revs
.
to go faster bye ducati panegale
It's 'buy' not 'bye' 😂😂😂
Bro the Infeld is made for slow old ppl not speed
It's a blank canvas to be turned into whatever you like. It's obviously not going to be very fast, but 60-65ft/lbs at the wheel and 80-90whp is a fun little ripper, especially with the 270* crank and turbo noises.
@@DoctorMotorcycle I guess if that's what you like, I have been looking for someone working on a 1983 Honda CX 650 turbo, I'm actually interested in comparing how Honda did it compared to how you turbo charge your bikes, I'm also considering a mechanical draw through turbo set up on a 79 CB750 project. If I can find some small enough turbos to fit under the seat and between the head and the existing carbs. I'm guessing after I get into it, it's going to be a lot easier but more expensive to go the route you usually go with yours.
@@kevinlewis9151 The CX's were blow through fuel injection. The only 80's turbo bike that was blow through carb was the XJ650 turbo. To my knowledge, there was never a factory turbo four that was draw-thru. Obviously there was the turbo Z1R-TC but that was done by Mr. Turbo. Draw-thru 4 bangers are very difficult to get to run right, just a heads up.
I'd use either a GT12 or GT15 on a CB750 w/draw-thru. I usually size turbo's smaller w/draw-thru as they end up pretty laggy when they're 4 feet away from the cylinder head. Make sure the plenum volume is at least 600cc. 4 Cylinders are the least picky about this as they only have 1 cylinder firing at a time, and that cylinder is usually pretty small, so you can get away with much less than twins and singles especially. If you have too much plenum volume it just makes the bike too cold blooded and you have to add a ton of fuel which wrecks the fuel economy.
@@DoctorMotorcycle after doing the slightest more research and realizing that the crank case is cast aluminum, I decided I'm definitely not suicidal enough to try and detonate anything that old. The most I would consider is a little 25 shot of nos they are snappy and powerful enough for what they are. Considering your containing a gasoline explosion in cast aluminum, I'm betting you can probably cause some major breakage just getting the carb mixture to rich.
Worst motorcycle to mod, theyre pretty unreliable and cheaply made , saying so by personal experience 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️‼️‼️
Bro you don't know much about RE I think so
If it's reliable in India then it's reliable everywhere
RE is focusing on classic bikes with slight new tech touch
Buaaaaaaaa 😂😂😂😂
