To Korey’s point of why no one went looking for Michael after “Kills”, I think the THEMATIC reason is because he’s embodied the stories told about him after his killing spree in the previous movie. He’s elevated to true boogeyman status at this point, no one WANTS to find him. But I agree, practically it’s silly and unbelievable that no one would look for him
This film has done a monumental feat from what I've seen online, making many Halloween fans forgive Resurrection, Rob Zombie's halloween 2, and that last Movie hahaha

And she sees a broken boy and she's like one of those women that wanna fix a man like he's an experiment, the boy even mentions that in the movie. Also she so ready to get out of the town because she has nothing that plays a part too.
I guess that Is a gripe I have when watching it again. I could see a dumb teenage girl being THIS smitten and charmed by this troubled boy involved in a murder not a woman in her early 20s who survived a pretty tramatic experience maybe I'm missing something

Well you can be stupid in love at any age. I get that she felt bad for Corey in the beginning and had that sort of trauma connection. It would have been better if she knew Corey from before and not 3 days lol. I did find it sort of believable though
I love how Kills is about mob mentality and mass hysteria, then Ends continues in that vein by being about brainwashing and radicalization.
The themes/ideas in this trilogy are really fascinating to explore, but the tone of these movies really ruins it for me. A more serious/darker/psychological feel would fit better with the messages they're trying send.
I thought we were just here for the body count and the stabbings, not Myers running for office or anything

So what your saying is that the story and writers and hence writing has only gotten worse. The first of these was a hollow mess of nothing. I didnt even bother with the second one after i saw him living at the end.
I think it'll be VERY interesting to see how ppl feel about this film in like 10 years time.
I personally don't think it will be as loved in the future as Halloween 3 is now. Halloween 3 had the guts to be its completely separate thing, completely untethered to Michael Myers and not tasked with wrapping up a multi-film arc in a satisfying way. But Ends was supposed to cap off this arc with satisfying resolutions, but simply opts not to. "Doing its own thing" is far less forgivable when setups don't receive the payoffs they deserve. For that reason, I don't think Ends will receive the more positive re-evaluation ten years from now like Halloween 3 has received.

Most of these movies get a cult following over time. The kids 9 years old now will love it.
However bad or good this movie is, David Gordon Green using the same credits font as Halloween III put the biggest smile on my face and I thank him for that.
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if Halloween 3 took place in the reboot timeline.

The romance between Allison and Corey eventually reminded me of Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg in “Fear”, if Wahlberg teamed up with Myers.
This would have been better off as a Fear or Christine remake
People being mean or rude in a small town definitely gave off a Stephen King vibes.....but this film was basically a halloween version of Christine

Making side characters shitty for a thematic point doesn't stop them from being unlikable to watch. It's the usual horror movie paradox where you need bad people to kill off but it also makes you indifferent towards their deaths. Like... You don't have to have these characters be unlikable and in fact doing the opposite can their deaths more impactful.

I think Halloween Kills and Ends both have excellent premises, but they're terribly executed.
I think kills is terrible all the way through, but ends is good but I can understand why people hate it.

Because none of the films ever gave a tone that it was suppose to be realistic and grounded. It was always suppose to be over the top, campy, and fun. The MPAA just ruined the franchise cause they always toned down the kills in the films. That's why i want a reboot that has the tone of the evil dead films but make the kills waayyy more brutal, over the top, and make the characters fun and memoriable.

I personally like this movie but It feels like it would've been a much better story for a Halloween ongoing comic or tv show like Chucky where they have more time to flesh out these ideas
I actually said to my roomates as we were watching it that the plot of this film feels like it would have been better as the plot for a 10 episode Halloween TV series.
I think the reason Michael didn’t kill the homeless guy is because it reminds Michael of the crazy patients he’s been prisoned at the Mental Institution

I remember when Halloween 2018 was coming out, there was sort of a feeling that it was being touted as the final showdown, a definitive end to the franchise. And while I overall love the 2018 movie, it's ending was alright [I guess]. If the 2018 movie had the last 20 minutes of Halloween Ends, I would've gotten that sense of decisiveness and finality that I thought we were getting in 2018....
I feel like they shouldn't have told us it would be a trilogy. Like, it's one thing to see a sequel coming when you're in the theater and it's another thing to have it announced ahead of time. Trilogies can be hit or miss and, to me, they're a huge risk.

Halloween Ends was way better than Halloween Kills, I hated that movie! In my opinion I like the risks they took and how they went away from the norm of the usual Halloween movies.
Totally agreed. For those who wanted another gore fest, they can skip the 3rd one and watch the 2nd one again.

I expected this to be the middle of the trilogy. Michael hiding away healing, the town coping with what happened, then ending with a rampage like in Kills. Because yeah it's confusing, in kills they make it seem like he gets more powerful the more he kills and by the end he's an unstoppable force. Then in this movie it's like all that is gone for the most part. He's there rotting away, weak.
Maybe the characters can’t afford to relocate? Its not like people are flocking to buy property there.
The granddaughter? being immature, I’m guessing she’s emotionally stunted due to trauma?
People being emotionally flat, rude, and some acting psychopath… everything to do with the town being cursed, Socio-economics and inter-generational trauma/ unchecked mental disorders?
It's the affording relocation for me. There are a lot of people who live in dangerous areas that want to move but can't.

Jamie Lee Curtis is a phenomenal actress. BUT script / direction are equally if not more important. Not sure if JLC will be able to pull this off on her abilities alone. IMO It’s going to make for an interesting watch all-the-same.
I saw Halloween Ends today, and it was awful. I went to the theater and it was a terrible watch. The real Michael Myers character is left out of the movie for the majority of the time. The movie is complete trash and all David Gordon Green gives us for his final installment is a very confusing storyline with a subplot that should’ve been cut out and a bunch of blood and gore that serves only as the bare surface of the movie.

She is terrible in the new films. All 3 of them.
They could have played this out like the Blair Witch - in the four years since the last movie there have been many mysterious disappearences of homeless men, drifters and pets. An urban legend has begun about the "Haddonfield Beast" and an an amateur podcast or reality show goes on the hunt to solve the mystery and to their horror discover that it's old Michael Myers hiding in the sewer and killing to regain his strength. The franchise needs a new coat of paint to stay relevant. I was surprised by the lack of innovation in this trilogy.
The reason everyone in town was a dick (including the main characters) is because the entire town is suffering from PTSD over what Michael Myers did in it and the events of the last movie and badly coping with it. They weren't meant to be representations of regular people who happen to be assholes, but a traumatized community lashing out at each other because of this unresolved pain in them. Which is why the ending is about destroying Michael once and for all so the town can start to heal those old wounds.
To me, the franchise ended with 2018. Laurie set him on fire im the basement and in my head canon, he died that way. That last shot of him looking up with flames surrounding him 👌🏾

David Gorden Green, Danny McBride, Chris Bernier and Paul Brad Logan took Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning (1985), Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (1993), A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985) and Christine (1983). Mixed those four films together with the worst elements of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) and Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995): The Producer's Cut. Thrown in a dash of Halloween H20 (1998) and voilà! The result is Halloween Ends and it's gloriously awful.
And yet this new Halloween Trilogy got off to a good start with Halloween (2018). Yes, it stumbled with Halloween Kills (2021), but Halloween Kills was just a gap filler in this trilogy. That had been a big problem.
Halloween Ends isn't just a big slap in the face for these two movies, oh no!
This film is a huge slap in the face to the entire Halloween Franchise. It doesn't feel like a Halloween Movie at all! It's just boring, frustrating and disappointing. So many new characters are introduced in this one. All have zero personality and are simply one dimensional. Michael Myers himself seemed bored, disinterested and tired. Heck, when this movie FINALLY decides to be a Halloween Movie, I was about to walk out of the theater.
Not even the Kills are good in this movie. How can you screw up so much with something so simple!
Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode is the only shining light in this awful film. She's the only thing stopping me from giving this movie 0.5/5 stars.
There are so many things about this film that I hate but I have no energy to talk about it. I have never left the cinema so speechless, confused and angry at the same time.

It is by far the worst movie in the Halloween Franchise. Yes, it's WORSE than Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989), Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), Halloween: Resurrection (2002), Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 (2009) and Halloween Kills (2021).
Do they keep the "he gets stronger with every kill he gets" Pokemon exp bullshit? Because I actually kind of liked that idea.

@@samuelstokes6624 The name Cory Cunningham could be seen as a reference to Sean S Cunningham who directed the original Friday the 13th and Cory Feldman played Tommy Jarvis in Friday the 13th part 4 where it was teased he'd take over Jason's mantle. That character returned in Friday the 13th part 5. However the entire arc of Cory Cunningham is identical to the main character in CHRISTINE whose name is Arnie Cunningham. The legendary killer working with a new killer is ripped straight from Maniac Cop 2
They should have done this spin with Corey in the previous one with Allyson. With that last shot in the 2018 movie of her still clutching the knife, I thought maybe she might start taking over for Michael. Instead we got a movie split into two with the last one with very lackluster writing and only a few good moments.
I just want to go over the things i don't understand, i don't get why Michael Myers drags Corey into the sewer and doesn't kill him, he leaves him there until he wakes up. The whole buddy thing between them didn't sit well with me, Michaels been this unstoppable force all this time, waited 40 good years to go after Laurie.

If he's now suddenly losing his power cause he hasn't killed for 4 years, then why didn't he just carry on? I absolutely hate HATE the part when Corey runs up on Michael shoving him and grabbing his mask, that was soo lame, that was basically the equivalent of Rey in TLJ besting Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. I respect them creatively trying something different, Gordon Green and his writers drew inspiration from Christine, a John Carpenter classic, nice, it's just it really did not work!
This was supposed to be a CLOSURE for Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, i would have done it where Michael can only die by Laurie's hand. I would have used ALL the atmosphere from the 80s Halloween 3 and made it where 4 years on, Haoddonfield has practically turned into a Ghost town, where many residents have moved away, and i would have made it maybe more intimate about Laurie stopping Michael once and for all.
I am glad Lindsey Wallace didn't die though, i really thought she was a gonna in this last one.
Early on, the writers said the pandemic would be written into the story.
I felt if anything, they could’ve explained the characters were forced to stay out of fear of not being able to find housing during that period, and they just got comfortable.

It felt like The Rise of Skywalker of Halloween films. In that it feels like there was an original plan for the third film, which was then thrown out and hasty rewritten, where plot points from the previous films are ignored and dropped, all to meet a release date

No in Halloween 78 Dr Loomis was saying there is something different about Michael Myers that's not all human. I'm pretty sure in context that the sewer system in Halloween Ends is a lot bigger they just chose to have him in a certain spot in the movie and 1 of the reasons he is called the shape is that he knows how to hide in the darkness
There was a supernatural element to Michael Myers from the Beginning. Some people forget or aren't aware of that.
Love it when it's Martin vs Korey
If you want to introduce an entirely new character as your killer, don't market it as a movie about Michael Myers. What's more, make the story comprehensive. Don't randomly jump from scene to scene and certainly don't make your hero a cartoon character, which is exactly what they did to Laurie.

That how I felt after watching Halloween Kills
I felt it was two movies in one and they should have committed either way. It's one of those movies where you know somewhere on the cutting room floor there is a really good or great movie but they didn't commit on a direction. I felt like it was like Spiderman 3 where you could tell the filmmakers really cared about one element of the story but were bogged down by another element. I think they should have had two separate movies one with the final showdown between Laurie and Michael(sewer system Myers), and then the new character getting his own movie.

I thought I was going to see a horror movie but, 75% was a Miramax rehash of Twilight for some godforsaken reason.
The movie is not good, but after thinking about it I wouldn't mind rewatching it just for the silliness.
It came to me and it's funny because Jamie Lee Curtis made that same statement years ago when she did that movie with Busta rhymes and she said she was never going to come back to that character when they killed off and then a decade later she makes another play back to the role playing that same character she said she was never going to come back too lol so let's see if she keeps her word this time lol
To hear some people, I thought this was going to be some Busta Rhymes clown show again. It wasn’t that bad.
The best way to describe this movie is rushed. There are some interesting ideas that were never fully explored, and the movie is just undercut by the silly, melodramatic tone. What’s interesting is that this almost feels like the rob zombie films since it’s borders on the raunchy and psychedelic.
I will say if they ever do a kick-ass sequel/reboot, the actor playing Cory would be perfect for the role as a younger Kick-ass

I'm with Martin 100% on this. The town has seen tragedy after tragedy at the hands of one man and there's only one family to blame according to them. I understand why they are bitter and provocative, even in real life when the pandemic happened people turned on each other. What happened to that poor dude is horrible I cannot even find the words to describe what he's been through after what happened to that kid he was babysitting. And Jamie Lee Curtis' performance is the best of her career, what a great show she put on for the final showdown with Mike.
Plus if they advertised it as a different movie then fine but they keep talking about an epic final showdown
I was cracking the fuck up when Corey snatched the mask from Michael. It was so entertaining. Without context this just looks like a random guy beating up and old man and stealing from him. 💀

It was funny when Corey just walk up to Michael and just start fighting him under the bridge 🌉 . It was just like he was just any regular dude.
Guys really gotta start paying attention to the plots, especially when you wanna be so hard on them.
1. Laurie and Allyson didnt move because they both came to terms with something
Laurie falsely believed for 40 years.... it wasnt personal. Laurie along with the town, partially blames
herself for the 2018 massacre so it makes absolute sense she do a 180 after learning the truth in "KIlls"
2. Michael hasn't been out of commission, just hiding in plain sight.
the "homeless man" is one of the escaped mental patients from 2018
and he tells Corey (and us) that Michael kidnaps people from time to time,
they just never return and he wonders why Michael let him live instead.
They also show Megan Baxter (Dick Baxter from Halloween 78's relative) on a billboard
above where Michael is hiding, she been missing since the previous Halloween night.
3. Michael's behavior also makes sense.
All he knows is his home and its been destroyed so he found a new one.
He's also no fool, he knows he's dying and the impact he had on then town
and he wants to see them suffer after he's gone, so when he overhears
Corey's story about being a killer, he attempted to train a successor
All this stuff was set up by the previous two entries.
With that we get a few key new things for the story:
Michael is out, NOT on Halloween, stalking and killing/
Both Michael's impact on the town mentally and
the town's impact on Michael physically are center stage/
the brilliant irony of a mechanic attacking Michael for his mask to imitate him,
after decades of Michael attacking mechanics to imitate them.
Seriously guys, the movie explained alot already, even restating
some explanations that were already given in 2018 and Kills.
I wish they just let him make a remake of Christine since this movie copies the plot beat for beat lol. Doing something different doesn’t mean shit when you betray the characters.I honestly don’t know how anyone can say out of all the sequels this was the least passionate of them all . It’s clear they were ready to move on to the exorcist movies .
The main characters even have the same last name.
To make up for this they need to make Christine the movie this should've been lol
@@samleembardo6202 I think this was the script for a new Arnie Cunningham story, a new Christine film but they turned it into a Halloween sequel. Same way Die Hard 3 was originally a Lethal Weapon script

this movie is the most ridiculous shit I've ever seen made. introduce a new character who goes pyscho, beats up your iconic villain, gets killed before the third act and then just end it iconic pyscho just dying. the funny part is she wrote a book about him being forgotten... but she wrote about him so how will people forget?
With Micheal dead maybe we could get that sequel to Halloween 3: Season of the Witch
This just shows me that the same team should do a remake of Christine.
Now that Halloween “ends.” How long is that gonna last until the next one or will they try again with an anthology for Halloween like season of the witch? I honestly thought the anthology idea was interesting.

"You're gonna put on a mask and start killing people." WITH HOW ALLYSON WAS ACTING THROUGHOUT THIS MOVIE I SWEAR I THOUGHT THAT'S WHERE THEY WERE GOING WITH THIS! I mean over and over she was would get this look in her eyes whenever her love interest would start talking about Burning it all down. But then nothing ever comes of it. This movie or at least this plot point reeked of either Studio Meddling or Re Shoots.
I honestly thought the big reveal was going to be that she was Michael Myers now and that both her and the boy were Bonnie and Clyde Halloween edition. It would have sucked, but they were going there it seemed.
Crazy how Corey beat Michael 1 on 1 out of nowhere especially considering the 4 year time jump. Call it whatever you want. This man had time for his all of injuries to heal. If we’re gonna be using the injury argument then why was he able to get up no problem at the end of kills and finish off the entire mob with ease?
To be fair a lot of his injuries probably healed wrong and could have harmed his body in ways he wasn't expecting...
That being said it did bug me seeing a vulnerable Michael in front if anyone but Laurie

I'm just overall glad they didn't do a teaser at the end when it's all said and done. It's over(until they remake it).
