Mrbeast said something that I think is quite profound, it doesn't matter how good your editing is, when you're a small channel, first release 100 videos and then you can start worrying about views and subscribers. You'll have to accept that your first 100 videos are not going to get a lot of views. The sad reality that people often fail to acknowledge, is that in the beginning at-least, content is king. For small creators, quantity often matters more than quality. It's better to start off with a lot of poorly edited low production videos and improve the quality as you grow vs releasing only a handful of videos slowly while trying to keep improving the quality as a small creator. You have to have balance. Anyway, don't give up. Much respect for small creators.
@@angryguymwa yes, I agree that quantity matters a lot😁. However, it also depends on the type of channel you have. For example, my channel is education-based and not really entertainment-based. For education channels, it's important to make sure the quality is also good because you're trying to teach people things. So, posting 1 good quality video per week is good. As for entertainment channels, you can post more. But, I agree that regardless of the type of channel you have, the first couple of videos are definitely lower quality as you're getting used to creating videos😂 Well done on your channel growth by the way! Almost 40k subs. That's amazing!🔥
I agree with both of you that content is key and depending on your niche, quality is also important. I think that one of the aspects that most new youtubers (myself included) forget is to give paramount attention to audio quality, no matter what. Let's face it: your video can be of poor editing, low res and low budget with good content, but if audio quality sucks, no one will want to watch it.

Started my channel at the beginning of this year and the climb to 1000 subscribers was slow and daunting. Then I had a video pop off and get 50k views, which put me over the 1k subscribers mark and get monetized. It is possible and you never know when it'll happen! I'm still a small youtuber and I don't make a lot of money on my videos, but even making a few bucks is encouraging.
One thing… for anybody wanting to start TH-cam make sure u actually love it. A lot of people start bc they want money. if this is u ur not gonna make it far. TH-cam is a hustle and if u don’t LOVE it ur not gonna last. Hopefully everyone sees success in their futures

That's what I think until I get 4 views for a short , let alone a video. But when you look at the ratio of views, subs , etc with the big boys, it not that much different. Saying that getting 5k or just under 10k views for a clip, at times doesn't make sense. 😅
I know it's super hard in the beginning. But if you can get TH-cam to figure out who your videos are for, the algorithm will start pushing it out to more of the right people😊 You can do it! Just keep going. - Make sure you include the right keywords (it's not all about SEO, but keywords does help YT determine what the video is about). Include the keyword in your title, description, and also say it in the video a couple of times if you can. - Make your thumbnails super striking and intriguing so you can get the viewer to want to watch more. - Keep your titles short, sweet, and impactful🙂 - Be yourself! (I struggled so long with this one, but I'm pushing myself to just be me in my videos). I hope this helps🤗
I completely agree with this. I have been actively on youtube for like 7 months. My views on youtube keep stacking up from things I posted 7 months ago. So whoever is doubting themselves don't give up on your dreams :)
Totally agree - making one video takes about 2-3 weeks, so I always split them into 4 parts. Even if the views aren't always the best, I really love the grind and creation process. If you don't enjoy the process (or at least parts of it), it will be very hard to do long-term. It's cliche, but really try to find something you like at least a bit rather than just looking for money. Great video!

This video is the best example to portray the fact that the most viewed content or the most popular Niche on TH-cam these days is "How to grow on TH-cam"
I've actually found it quite challenging to grow in this niche😅. For example, my client is in the relationship industry and she's managed to grow her channel to over 7k subs relatively quickly. This is the first video of mine that's truly doing very well. It's not only about the niche, but also about research, thumbnails, titles, etc.
@@chantewalt Yeah you are totally right about the research and thumbnails stuff, this one is clearly your best performing video because this is related to what I'm referring to and it's looks more credible coming from you. One of your videos is "How to get 1000 subsribers and you yourself have 360 subsribers, so I feel that sounds less credible, I hope yk what I mean. And if this is your niche then I'd recommend watch the outlier contents of channels in similar niche and make something similar and if one of your videos gets viral then you'll grow quickly. And lastly try to make more shorts as they have more chances of getting viral. I know I'm no expert but I do a lot of research on this topic, so this is my two cents on this thing🙃
@@imtiaz9khan yes, absolutely😊. It definitely has to do with cerdibility. The reason I created the "how to get 1000 subscribers" video is because I helped my client reach that milestone. As I mentioned she now has more than 7000 subs, and so I try to share the tips that I used to help her grow. But, doing it this way (by sharing my own TH-cam journey instead of only my client's journey) is a lot more authentic and relateable. I'm going to be sharing the ups and downs. Thanks for the tips! Hi Chante, I must be that woodworker you were talking about! 🤣 I'm actually a fulltime UI/UX designer and manage a team of designers. But I also have a hobby of woodworking. I started my channel a year ago in April, and did about 5 videos and just stopped. Many things were an issue. I was working out of my garage, so I had to work mostly in my driveway, but once June came it started getting too hot. Plus, I think I was putting my energy in the wrong place. So I stopped and waited. Once April 2024 came, I was renewed and more determined to do this, but I wanted to take a different approach. So my new "1st" video concentrated on my new plan to first clean out and organize the garage, and make it a proper shop. When I started again in April, I had just around 200 subs, as of today I have 550. I've been trying to stay consistent, post more frequently, and also try different things, like posting shorts, and community posts. I think it all helps, I'm going to try a consistent schedule of Daily community posts, daily shorts, 2 short long form (Updates, behind the scenes) videos and one long form video a week. Absolute beginner here as well. 287 subscriber's but not much views. Included English subtitles for a bigger audience, but it didn't do anything. Our channel gives our creativity a boost. And that's the big plus for us. Thank you for you're advice.

I remembered 5 years ago my students said they would like to be youtubers....I told them a youtuber is not a career it's passion its not easy to earn money if you just make a video. Many youtubers end up stress, desperate get sick for not getting enough sleep. They ddn't know I also making videos in YT I started 2012.. then, I just had few subs. not even monetized. Anyway, if you think you can earn money....go for it! You need to experience how to make videos and vlog.

I’m currently documenting my journey with my chronic pain, losing my job in the process and up coming surgery. Besides trying to be perfect, it’s been really really slow with the views (Blogging while chronic is the channel ). I don’t want this to be strictly a health channel. I’m sort of stuck. In love with the process but I don’t know which way to go out how to do it and that’s the reason why I’m slow with my content.

Yes being a new TH-camr is hard. I put so much work into my videos but I feel lost in the sea of all the other people who make similar videos. Also some of the videos I loved filming the most don’t get as many views as my other content so I feel like I have to cater to the videos that get more views.

I also put in a lot of work into some of my videos and then they don't get a lot of views, while other videos that I didn't expect will do well just takes off for some reason. But, mimicking the videos that did well on your channel is a good approach. Do more of what works😊

Editing isn't always the biggest time sync. It depends on your type of video and how smart you are at the work flow. For example, my gaming channel takes at least 5 hours to record. Sometimes, it can take up to 10 hours. Editing is 2-3 hours due to how I mark edit spots by speaking during the interesting parts and staying silent during the boring parts. I get a 30-60 minute video out of this. I also use ShotCut which seems super fast and easy to learn compared to Adobe.
@@charitycodes yes, this is very true. For educational channels the recording part generally goes quicker because you're basically just talking to the camera. But, with entertainment channels like art and gaming, it can take very long to record. Well done on your channel growth. You're doing awesome!🔥😊

you can you use nvidia broadcast to use your phone as a web cam. works through wifi. Then use obs to record directly from your phone w/o having to save the video to the phone storage
Have been on TH-cam for over 2 years now ,stuck at 170 subscribers and iv been consistent trying to learn everyday. I don't even feel like doing anything right now. Feeling low and drained

We have a Costco shop with me channel. It’s hard to receive a negative comment like “you did not show the nutritional value,…”. It may be just a 10 minute video, but it took two hours video (in a busy store and trying to stay out of the way of others). Then the visual edits, sound edits, thumb nail, end suggestions,…. Some viewers have no idea how much time goes into even simple videos. But! Keep going! It may be slow to start,…but your patience and dedication will pay off. 👉practice does not make perfect,…it makes progress! I believe in you!💚 BTW I use my phone to shot videos and my iPad with iMovie to edit.👍

Totally right about the amount of work and effort we content creators go, to produce a 10min video. It can be exhaustive sometimes. I'm absolutely no expert but had a look at your channel and you have some good views, which is great. Im not trying to belittle you, but I've spent 6 months on a video. Honestly, i dont even care about the views anymore. But, I love this video you have made. It is good to hear some other peoples challenges. And, the reality about TH-cam now is that you are competing against other TH-cam channels that have their own production companys and investments. My advice is to just make what you want and do your own thing. Have your own fun. You never know what will happen later.

As a new TH-camr, I hear you with the money. But even the $500/month is helpful. That's a car payment, or a good chunk of rent. If youtube wants me to post once a week, I can film/edit and upload a video in a weekend and post it. Doing that every weekend for $500/month sounds like a pretty easy weekend job (that will keep paying over time rather than a job you do once and it only gives you a pay check that one time). perspective is a great thing to have!

I specialize in boring videos. Earlier this year I posted 12 videos and earned 10 subscribers. Yup, I post disasterpieces for sure. I realized a few years ago that I was making videos to make a person or two laugh. If somebody laughs.....then all is well.
It is really hard! I have a gaming news channel that is a bit different as my videos are 60 seconds.I love what I do with the voice work/editing and one of my videos got 20k views, but the reality is I just hit my 150th subscriber and it's SUPER difficult to get others to subscribe. That's what I think until I get 4 views for a short , let alone a video. But when you look at the ratio of views, subs , etc with the big boys, it not that much different. Saying that getting 5k or just under 10k views for a clip, at times doesn't make sense. 😅
I know it's super hard in the beginning. But if you can get TH-cam to figure out who your videos are for, the algorithm will start pushing it out to more of the right people😊 You can do it! Just keep going.
- Make sure you include the right keywords (it's not all about SEO, but keywords does help YT determine what the video is about). Include the keyword in your title, description, and also say it in the video a couple of times if you can.
- Make your thumbnails super striking and intriguing so you can get the viewer to want to watch more.
- Keep your titles short, sweet, and impactful🙂
- Be yourself! (I struggled so long with this one, but I'm pushing myself to just be me in my videos).

Totally agree - making one video takes about 2-3 weeks, so I always split them into 4 parts. Even if the views aren't always the best, I really love the grind and creation process.
If you don't enjoy the process (or at least parts of it), it will be very hard to do long-term. It's cliche, but really try to find something you like at least a bit rather than just looking for money.

This video is the best example to portray the fact that the most viewed content or the most popular Niche on TH-cam these days is "How to grow on TH-cam"
I've actually found it quite challenging to grow in this niche😅. For example, my client is in the relationship industry and she's managed to grow her channel to over 7k subs relatively quickly. This is the first video of mine that's truly doing very well. It's not only about the niche, but also about research, thumbnails, titles, etc.
@@chantewalt Yeah you are totally right about the research and thumbnails stuff, this one is clearly your best performing video because this is related to what I'm referring to and it's looks more credible coming from you. One of your videos is "How to get 1000 subsribers and you yourself have 360 subsribers, so I feel that sounds less credible, I hope yk what I mean. And if this is your niche then I'd recommend watch the outlier contents of channels in similar niche and make something similar and if one of your videos gets viral then you'll grow quickly. And lastly try to make more shorts as they have more chances of getting viral.

@@imtiaz9khan yes, absolutely😊. It definitely has to do with cerdibility. The reason I created the "how to get 1000 subscribers" video is because I helped my client reach that milestone. As I mentioned she now has more than 7000 subs, and so I try to share the tips that I used to help her grow.
But, doing it this way (by sharing my own TH-cam journey instead of only my client's journey) is a lot more authentic and relateable. I'm going to be sharing the ups and downs.

Hi Chante, I must be that woodworker you were talking about! 🤣 I'm actually a fulltime UI/UX designer and manage a team of designers. But I also have a hobby of woodworking. I started my channel a year ago in April, and did about 5 videos and just stopped. Many things were an issue. I was working out of my garage, so I had to work mostly in my driveway, but once June came it started getting too hot. Plus, I think I was putting my energy in the wrong place. So I stopped and waited. Once April 2024 came, I was renewed and more determined to do this, but I wanted to take a different approach. So my new "1st" video concentrated on my new plan to first clean out and organize the garage, and make it a proper shop. When I started again in April, I had just around 200 subs, as of today I have 550. I've been trying to stay consistent, post more frequently, and also try different things, like posting shorts, and community posts. I think it all helps, I'm going to try a consistent schedule of Daily community posts, daily shorts, 2 short long form (Updates, behind the scenes) videos and one long form video a week. I remembered 5 years ago my students said they would like to be youtubers....I told them a youtuber is not a career it's passion its not easy to earn money if you just make a video.
Many youtubers end up stress, desperate get sick for not getting enough sleep. They ddn't know I also making videos in YT I started 2012.. then, I just had few subs. not even monetized. Anyway, if you think you can earn money....go for it! You need to experience how to make videos and vlog.

I’m currently documenting my journey with my chronic pain, losing my job in the process and up coming surgery. Besides trying to be perfect, it’s been really really slow with the views (Blogging while chronic is the channel ). I don’t want this to be strictly a health channel. I’m sort of stuck.
In love with the process but I don’t know which way to go out how to do it and that’s the reason why I’m slow with my content.

Yes being a new TH-camr is hard. I put so much work into my videos but I feel lost in the sea of all the other people who make similar videos. Also some of the videos I loved filming the most don’t get as many views as my other content so I feel like I have to cater to the videos that get more views.

I also put in a lot of work into some of my videos and then they don't get a lot of views, while other videos that I didn't expect will do well just takes off for some reason. But, mimicking the videos that did well on your channel is a good approach. Do more of what works😊

Editing isn't always the biggest time sync. It depends on your type of video and how smart you are at the work flow. For example, my gaming channel takes at least 5 hours to record. Sometimes, it can take up to 10 hours. Editing is 2-3 hours due to how I mark edit spots by speaking during the interesting parts and staying silent during the boring parts. I get a 30-60 minute video out of this. I also use ShotCut which seems super fast and easy to learn compared to Adobe.
@@charitycodes yes, this is very true. For educational channels the recording part generally goes quicker because you're basically just talking to the camera. But, with entertainment channels like art and gaming, it can take very long to record. Well done on your channel growth. You're doing awesome!🔥😊

I can relate very well and yes, if you have a regular job and starting out as side business it is really challenging to stay consistent. Its basically the time is running out too fast and before you notice you are already behind schedule :D

We have a Costco shop with me channel. It’s hard to receive a negative comment like “you did not show the nutritional value,…”. It may be just a 10 minute video, but it took two hours video (in a busy store and trying to stay out of the way of others). Then the visual edits, sound edits, thumb nail, end suggestions,…. Some viewers have no idea how much time goes into even simple videos.
But! Keep going! It may be slow to start,…but your patience and dedication will pay off. 👉practice does not make perfect,…it makes progress!

BTW I use my phone to shot videos and my iPad with iMovie to edit.👍

As a New TH-camr I appreciate the encouragement in the comments of this great video. I have been struggling with research on growing my channel and like she said I spend hours recording and editing for such low views. I am trying to stay consistent. Good Luck to my fellow newbies.

Im not trying to belittle you, but I've spent 6 months on a video. Honestly, i dont even care about the views anymore. But, I love this video you have made. It is good to hear some other peoples challenges. And, the reality about TH-cam now is that you are competing against other TH-cam channels that have their own production companys and investments. My advice is to just make what you want and do your own thing. Have your own fun. You never know what will happen later.

As a new TH-camr, I hear you with the money. But even the $500/month is helpful. That's a car payment, or a good chunk of rent. If youtube wants me to post once a week, I can film/edit and upload a video in a weekend and post it. Doing that every weekend for $500/month sounds like a pretty easy weekend job (that will keep paying over time rather than a job you do once and it only gives you a pay check that one time).

However, I'm planning on going full-time on TH-cam eventually. For that, I need to earn about $2,500+ per month. So, I'm going to sell digital products in addition to getting adsense from TH-cam😊.
@@chantewalt Of course, more is always better. I would also look at ways to trim your expenses. You could meet yourself in the middle.

I specialize in boring videos. Earlier this year I posted 12 videos and earned 10 subscribers. Yup, I post disasterpieces for sure.
I realized a few years ago that I was making videos to make a person or two laugh. If somebody laughs.....then all is well.

It is really hard! I have a gaming news channel that is a bit different as my videos are 60 seconds.I love what I do with the voice work/editing and one of my videos got 20k views, but the reality is I just hit my 150th subscriber and it's SUPER difficult to get others to subscribe.
