Owned a Steam Deck for almost a year before the OLED came out. I loved it so much and thought I'd buy the OLED for my girlfriend for Christmas. When I tested it out to make sure it worked, I fell in love with it and decided to sell my LCD and upgrade to the OLED. Best decision I've ever made. I love it more than any other piece of tech and gaming console I've ever owned. I almost exclusively play on it, except for when I'm not home. That's when I play my RP4P, which in my opinion is the perfect pocketable powerhouse companion. Great video man!
Hey man. Thanks for sharing all the details! Id like to get an oled too and hook it up to a projector most of the time. I wonder if you have any experience with that. I'm afraid I'll get it and triple a games won't run smoothly... Any thoughts?
@@thehaguy I dock my OLED Deck about 50-75% of the time, but I don’t often play current gen AAA games. Most of the AAA games I play are from early this generation and past, like Red Dead Redemption 2 which runs and looks amazing docked. Otherwise, my girlfriend played Baldur’s Gate 3 and had to lower the resolution, utilize FSR, and still dip into the 30FPS range. So, it really comes down to what you want to play. I often like to play a lot of PS2/GC games with emulation which runs phenomenally, but also tackle my PC backlog of a decent variety of games. If you have certain games in mind, definitely look them up before deciding to pick one up! I personally would love a bit more power for current gen games when I decide to play them, but I also don’t mind waiting for the next Deck to come out in a couple years before being able to play them.

Owned the Steam Deck for a year. Bought an Ally and never looked back. The idea that I cant play basic games like Minecraft or even Roblox on the Steam Deck made me realize it has too many limitations. Also VRR is a must have feature for a handheld used to play modern AAA games as most will be played below 60fps. Buy an open-box Ally and the Best Buy extended warranty and you are good.
You can play all those games on the deck. I like tbe deck more since it resembles more of a traditional system like the switch and makes it better. Right now during the Summer Sale on Steam, you can get a 64GB LCD Steam Deck for $296.65 USD. Which, for the "price to performance" is just a good deal. Sure that meager 64GB of storage isn't great, but you can stick in any SD card you already own. You're not gonna be playing any big-budget modern AAA releases that really need 300GB of space and a super-fast SSD to function on a Deck anyways, so an SD card is fine.

Pre-ordered the original Steam Deck and got it on day of release. Loved it, stuck in a 1tb micro sd card full of some of the games i have in the arcade cabinet i built years ago. After awhile, i ran into issues with creating playlists for all my emulated games using the Linux desktop, where it would reset all my playlists every so often. Got on my nerves. Then the Steam Oled got announced and i was about to pull the trigger, yhen i saw the Ayaneo 2S. It was stupidly expensive but was powerful at the time and looked amazing as it has literally no bezels. I justified the spend by telling myself, ill also ise it as a desktop PC for photo and video editing when im traveling. Stuck in a 4tb ssd i had, threw on a ton of games and used the same front end software I use on my arcade (Bigbox) and its amazing! But yeah, i can't see many people doing that.
I bought a brand new Steam Deck OLED about a month ago. This thing is awesome. It’s convenient and easy to use like a portable console, yet it can play triple A games. If you get a dongle/dock and keyboard, mouse, and monitor…you can use it just like a computer. It truly is one. Layout and some features are different because it is Steam OS/Linux, but it’s nice enough and not too hard to work with compared to windows. Sure you can’t play all games, but people are constantly working to make things work and they usually can, except for anti-cheat games which I don’t really care for anyway. I am completely new to gaming. I have little interest in competitive and online gaming. I just want to game casually. My laptop is also starting to break. This thing is exactly what I was looking for. It’s a PC, it’s a console. It’s not perfect at either, but it definitely works as both. I can play older PS and Xbox exclusives and mod games. It’s just like a computer, but you will not find a computer more convenient and easy to use when gaming. If everything is hooked up right it also works like a computer just great.

Just bought legion go 512 for 579, would have preferred the steam deck oled if it had more power, a better screen resolution, and windows 11 drivers for a dual boot.
Same. This is actually my 2nd attempt at the Go since launch when I got the 1TB one for $750. It wasn't ready for primetime but it is now and will get better soon with the upcoming UI changes. My 2TB drive is going to be here soon from Ali. Altogether it's going to be only $675! I also got the Ally at launch and upgraded that to 2TB too along with an XGM 6850M. I love it but it's a little too small for me so that's why I need the Go. 😊 I was considering the SD OLED cause of the screen but I prefer Windows overall. The screen is just slightly bigger than the Ally so who knows if I was going to be ok with it. I don't have a large Steam library as well but I'm slowing building it. I just went back to PC 2 years ago or so as I was console gaming for the past 25 years or so. 😊 I just built my own custom 4090 rig late last year and it's pretty awesome. Steam deck is easily the best for a beginner. If you have some experience in computers you could look into a lenovo legion go but overall a steam deck is the bets option, functions like a console in gaming mode and is easy to use. Only thing is its pretty big but you get used to it after some hours,
Bought the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme last year and has become my daily gaming platform. Able to use it when I have my new born sleeping on my lap or on lunch break while I’m at work. Definitely best purchase I’ve made in a long time, runs amazing and with the kill switch case feels just that much better 🤌🏼 love that I can also use it for work due to its windows capability.

There is no confusion brother Best and affordable: steam deck High performance and expensive: legion go If ur a japanese school girl then nintendo switch 😂
@joef7417 Rog ally non extreme doesn't get better battery life than the extreme Ally and performs worst under 15 TDP than the Steam Deck. I agree with sreekesh the LCD Deck is better handheld than the nonextreme Ally. You can run the Steam Deck at 10 -12 tdp with very little performance loss compared to 15 tdp just like with the Ally at 25 tdp is close to the same performance at 30 tdp. The reason the Ally non-extreme is so cheap it sold poorly. The main reason to get the Ally nonextreme is if the Steam Deck isn't sold in your country.
i went from a steam deck oled and im going to get a legion go next week. my reason is the bigger screen, its more comfortable and i dont trust asus anymore.
@@shaolin95 as a portability stand point thats fine. do i like oled yes but the steam deck was a bit to small for my hands like my knuckles was cramping.
I was stuck between the Legion Go and Deck OLED because the Go was on a huge sale. Then I realized that I prefer my console experience to that of Windows and that made me get the OLED. I have had it for almost a week and can't say that I regret it one bit. I can play my emulated PSP games, remote play my PS5 and play Steam and Epic games all in one place. The customization is great when I got Decky Loader on and it reminds me of the time when I modded my PSP (fun and glad to have something similar).
You made the right choice. Windows on a handheld isn’t the best experience. Yeah the go is powerful but it counts for nothing if you have to spend most of the time tinkering to get the games to run well. That and the fact that to get the most out of it you have to be plugged in all the time. Kinda defeats the purpose of a handheld
@@antonjalowy4143 I'd rather windows than Linux 100%. You still have to tinker with the SteamDeck with proton, and some games require wayyyyy more tinkering than Go with windows ever would just to be able to play (if it can play that is). It is also dependent on usage, if someone plays at home mostly and wants an easy pickup and play, then I'd say the Go. If it's for say train commutes, less windows knowledge, I'd say SteamDeck. Both devices are way too big for me to consider taking out in public to begin with so I'd rather the Go
I own a Steam deck lcd 512gb and up upgraded to an 1tb ssd. And I should’ve wait for an oled but I can’t wait and bought the lcd model anyways. I should’ve waited and bought the oled
I bought them all at the same time to test, kept steam deck oled sent legion go and rog ally back, the deck is a proper console the others are a real pain and inconvenience compared to the deck I might sound like a fan boy but if you’re on the fence go with the deck, you won’t regret it, I regretted the other two to the point if they weren’t so expensive I probly would have thrown them against the wall
Different users and different use case. I do prefer ally for a lot of reasons that the deck can't and I know a lot of people do as well. If someone asked me what handheld to buy I won't recommend any because just like I said people have different use case. There is nothing wrong with other handhelds maybe the deck just fits what you need just like me ally fits my needs and not the deck. So stop with the console wars and stop being a fanboy and hate for other consoles just buy what you think fits you we all have different preferences. I like ally because of the screen 1080p with VRR prefer crisper and sharper image and no limitation I can play all my games in epic, gamepass, and steam and garena that is why I prefer ally over deck. I don't have any problem with windows and I've been using my ally for 6 months and never experience any issues an I don't know why some people complain about windows maybe its not their preference and and I know a lot of people who prefers windows over linux including me. Windows fits me better the freedom to do and play and install any games and any platform without limitations and without compatibility issues is more of a breeze to me than sleep mode.
@@nathanjuan6042Literally the only other "use case" for the rog ally is the slight performance boost and emphasis on slight because its really not that much better. It lacks trackpads, a decent OS, a strong battery life and an ergonomic design. Yeah sure its 1080p rather than 800p but the OLED of the steam deck puts that to shame. All of that and its 200$ cheaper due to the fact that its purpose is to drive steam sales, not profit off of hardware. Maybe the lenovo legion go could prove better because of the bigger screen and detatchable controllers but those are some pretty niche features IMO.

Get a gaming laptop and a steam deck best combo. I got into pc gaming with the steam deck in 2022 and recently picked up an rog G14 and it’s a beast when it comes to every game. Got it for only $999 And recently upgraded to the steam deck oled and it’s so much better than the LCD by a long shot.
I own a deck, ally and legion go. Just get an Ally or Legion Go. The deck’s hardware is far inferior. The OLED display is nothing compared to the Ally’s 1080p VRR.
@@sosamanotf642SD has better ergonomics and battery. Also having high resolution is pretty irrelevant on a handheld 7 inch screen so tbh SDOLED wins there
Consoles wars have proven time and time again performance is NOT everything. Xbox X is the most powerful console today and the worst seller. Asus is a huge hardware company while Valve is a much smaller company so they can focus on updating the Steam Deck more than Asus with the Ally. (This is even a bigger problem with Xbox as Microsoft is a huge company with a lot more interest besides gaming.) I'm not trashing the Ally as it's a good handheld but this idea the hardware with the best performance wins is false. Valve continues to update Steam and the Deck on a regular bases. In case you haven't been paying attention recently the top new games sold on Steam have been AA and indy titles. @@johnathanmckenzie2133hopefully you got the drive from Ali cause it's a lot cheaper than Amazon or anywhere else.
I feel like the rouge ally is the most comfortable
This are all overpriced and battery hungry. Except Steamdeck, still it's OP here at where I live.
Tbh if you broke and just want to play low spec games on the go arbenic win 600 probably enough.
@someguywithabirdface2583 you can get an ayaneo next lite for 300 right and it will do more then you need it to on the go. Hell they were selling there air plus base model for 270 until it sold out that's a steal
steam deck oled is 560, legion and ally are 600 if you scherach well, some games dont even run on deck. still overpriced right?
0:26 never was
I’m just getting into this which one should I get as a beginner
I’m on the same boat as you. I’m just a Nintendo switch owner and I want to get into handheld pc gaming.
İ brought steam deck this month optimisation most importing think to me and reason to levae pc behind and switch to console and deck most cheapest of them all i buy used almost same price on nintendo switch
HEY kislux I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
There is no confusion brother
Best and affordable: steam deck
High performance and expensive: legion go
If ur a japanese school girl then nintendo switch 😂
@joef7417 Rog ally is a PC in hand, u get all pc nonsense updates, u can't game in peace, steam deck is far comfortable
@@shaolin95 as a portability stand point thats fine. do i like oled yes but the steam deck was a bit to small for my hands like my knuckles was cramping.
yeah i agree with you on the Ally
Where is the Onexfly ?...
I want ask something I don't have a laptop so I planning or buy one and I see this handheld console I kinda like it because I don't like playing games on keyboard I like to play games on phone to be honest and this handheld console looks good and I want to use as a PC too for regular work and the rog ally as a window 11 and I see lots and lots of videos can I really use rog ally as my pc so and if I want to do some heavy work like editing i can use my brother laptop but mosty I will use mine so I'm asking you bro can I use a rog ally for both gaming device and laptop .👀and I like rog ally because it has windows 11 and nice , performance , And I can play any game I want in it, compare to steam deck . I want a powerful device to do my work that's why I thinking of buying it . Ahh the new rog ally x it has more things than old one and I can wait for 3 to 4 months and bro can i buy a laptop or rog ally x what do u think plzz tell bro I'm very confused 😕
Get a gaming laptop (you can always connect a controller to it)
Just Buy the ROG ALLY X that will come out next month JULY or Get the Big screen LEGION GO, a Laptop, a game pad/controller and a power brick is too much of an accessory carrying around, a handheld with a little powerful power bank will do 👍👍
@@borky1987 gaming laptop is a best option . Ok bro thanks for your suggestion
Get a gaming laptop and a steam deck best combo.
I got into pc gaming with the steam deck in 2022 and recently picked up an rog G14 and it’s a beast when it comes to every game. Got it for only $999
And recently upgraded to the steam deck oled and it’s so much better than the LCD by a long shot.
I heard only steam deck has the sleep feature and its great. What do you think?
I own a deck, ally and legion go. Just get an Ally or Legion Go. The deck’s hardware is far inferior. The OLED display is nothing compared to the Ally’s 1080p VRR.
@@sosamanotf642SD has better ergonomics and battery. Also having high resolution is pretty irrelevant on a handheld 7 inch screen so tbh SDOLED wins there
@@continental_consumer yes but steam deck is weak compared to others
I love handheld devices but i don't have money to buy this 😢
Arbenic win 600 might work
Get a refurbished steam deck. I heard you can get the 512GB LCD screen ones for like 300.
Which one for wow classic
Legion Go or the ROG Ally.
I think you are inthecloset LeGo lover
😅 you mention the others but you gave more FaceTime to the Legion go. So admit it the Legion go is the best
Nice
Rog ally destroys steam deck in almost every way
Consoles wars have proven time and time again performance is NOT everything. Xbox X is the most powerful console today and the worst seller.
Asus is a huge hardware company while Valve is a much smaller company so they can focus on updating the Steam Deck more than Asus with the Ally. (This is even a bigger problem with Xbox as Microsoft is a huge company with a lot more interest besides gaming.)
I'm not trashing the Ally as it's a good handheld but this idea the hardware with the best performance wins is false. Valve continues to update Steam and the Deck on a regular bases.
In case you haven't been paying attention recently the top new games sold on Steam have been AA and indy titles. With big developers continue to get lay off people this will open door for indy developers who love games like us to get more support.
You are going to see less triple A titles in the near future.
@@smidlee7747 Xbox is the worst seller has nothing to do with the hardware station has always been king because of their first party games and better performance. Remember the Xbox ring of death and having to recharge batteries etc. either way defend the product. All you want.. The bottom line is Ally is better than steam deck. Especially the ally x
@@smidlee7747 youre right
@@smidlee7747Valve aint a small company dude, they absolutely dominate in game sales. Steam is where 95% of pc gamers get their games from.
@@smidlee7747Exactly. They act like the best graphics is sooo important yet every game that takes advatange of them are almost always boring crap with no innovation.
Im Broke as F
I have steam deck... 720p... pixeled games... 🙄😑😑
First of all its 800p. Second its literally a 7.4 inch screen, you cant even see the difference.
