    It's solid and clear that Valve removed the moveable props in CSGO to make it more competitive-like. That was the goal when the game was released after all. CS Source still fun to play with the props flying all over the map and such. Both define what FPS games are like, in competitive and casual scenarios respectively.

    Y'know I like the movable props thing with CSS as that's actually what a realistic battle would be like. Using what's around you to your advantage. And it allows more room for error when you're holding tight angles and allows you to be creative. For a competitive game this literally would break the rules if played on a high level, so I could see why this game is for the casual as apposed to CSGO not having a lot of that freedom and being specifically made for the competitive scene.

Actually that simplicity (no excess of assets to try to make it realistic), the more vibrant map colours, is what makes it still more appealing to me.
      CSGO just feels bland in every sense: the generic corny menus, the "wannabe" realistic maps crowded with assets making some maps almost totally distinc to originals, the dull colour palette in most maps, gun sounds, radio commands... It doesn't even feel like a Source Engine game (like other like L4D, Portal or CSS did), it feels like they tried to aesthetically copy on COD/Battlefield, the FPS games everyone played by 2011-2012, trying to go for realism in a bad way, but crimping physics like the video shows. Ironically the only thing they truly put effort in were in the skins, which makes it even less appealing to me, and probably the only reason why it's still so successful today. All in all it doesn't feel like any top games Valve delivered till then.

      CS:GO has just as big a custom community as CSS, if not bigger, simply due to it having more players. Valve didn't remove the community servers. BHop, Surf, KZ, Jailbreak, ScoutsKnives, Zombie Escape/Survival, and more are still in the game. The only real difference in that regard is that you have to click through one or two extra menu options to open the community servers.

    • @sgtjoeham
      @sgtjoeham 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @OriginalFake Dumb reply. Many of the tools used to create "custom shit" are largely gone and the legacy browser is hidden behind 3 windows. It is undeniably more difficult and less likely for user to connect to a custom gamemode and for said gamemode to flourish if the means of accessing these servers and creating the content is hidden and evidently ignored by valve in favor of more refined sterile competitive gameplay.

    • @sgtjoeham
      @sgtjoeham 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LP-PADICIA In no way is the custom community of CS:GO larger than Source. Sure, many tools do STILL exist to create such experiences (at least the more immediately recognizable ones like the ones you've listed) but Valve have no interest in continuing to support these gamemodes as evidenced by the culling of scripts and hammer tools. And yes, even though it is only two extra clicks you cannot deny that newer, perhaps younger users, are less likely to investigate the legacy browser as a result. Many of these things that CS:S does more realistically do not belong in a modern competitive game. This especially applies for moving dead bodies and props around the map, allowing you to hide the bomb or hide yourself behind them. The problem is that these props don't match up on multiple people's screens (in CS:GO, even the bodies end up in different places for different people). It was previously possible to move certain props, but the feature was mostly removed and kept only for some props that aren't likely to interfere in competitive scenarios. Breaking props and glass is the same thing, and was changed for the exact same reason (for example the glass could theoretically appear cracked and therefore not see through from one side, and completely see through from the other side, or the holes in it would be in different places, etc.). Another reason is that these props, if moved, could block players from coming through without moving the object from their path, or slowing them down/intefering during aim duels (which could make a difference between winning or losing a round).
    Some minor things, such as lowering the amount of particles, non moving door handles, despawning bullet shells, magazines, etc., were all adjusted to optimize the game to run on slower PCs. They were details hardly anyone would notice and that were not important for gameplay.
    Custom sprays were removed for two reasons. Firstly, the sprays we got became an item with limited use, allowing the developers to monetize it. And secondly, perhaps more importantly, to stop people from spraying whatever they want. These days, many things are obviously less acceptable than 10 years ago, and with more people playing and more attention on the game, they had to make sure people won't be spraying bad language, including racial or sexually themed slurs, excessive gore, sexually explicit pictures, or even copyrighted material, etc., especially since the game is very popular among kids too.
    The ability to kill hostages was removed for two reasons. Firstly, a bit of censorship, since killing unarmed civilians doesn't look good when the game is being age rated, and secondly, to avoid people griefing by killing the hostages.
    Certain features, such as the flashlight and nightvision, were not included because they simply aren't necessary. The official maps were all always much brighter than the ones in CS:S, meaning such items wouldn't be used (hardly any more serious player used them in the older games). On community servers, where the flashlight may be useful, it's often available due to being modded in.
    One thing I would really appreaciate is the sites being destroyed by bomb explosions and even catching on fire (in that part of the round, it no longer matters, especially if the destruction doesn't exceed into the blast survivable area, therefore only affects the area where it would deal 100+ damage).

    This says a lot of about valve in general. Valve cared for their games back when cs:s was all we had. Nowadays they just want a functioning game, so all those little details don't matter to them anymore. As long as the game works, they don't care like they used to.

      And it baffles me on how scared Valve is with sharing any kind of info, like how does Gabe find it so hard to answer a question about Half Life 3, or Counter Strike 2 or whatever, he can just say yes or no

    1. CS:GO office glasses were changed around 2018 (Old ones was the same as CS:S).
    2. Table is a breakable prop physics, If you play Office CS:S map port on CS:GO the physics is the still the same (physics props were removed for competitive play).
    3. Pictures, Physics objects are on the maps, CS:S ported maps on CS:GO still have them.
    4. Hostages, Changed around 2013 (hostages were the same as CS:S), you can't kill them anymore, rescue was changed, 1 hostage rescue = win the round.
    5. Around 2012 you can't shot the ragdolls anymore + bloodpool like L4D1&2 got removed.
    6. Door handles are unused in the maps, only few maps use them like CS:GO Training Course and Operation CO-OP missions.
    7. Flashlight got removed after Arms Deal update, replaced with inspect the weapon, still works on some modded servers.
    8. Particles, Splashes, Sleeves got changed.
    9. Nightvision got removed from the buy list, still obtainable using sv_cheats 1, give item_nvgs then bind N nightvision, press N to turn it on or off, still works on some modded servers.
    Most of these changes to suit the game for competitive play.

    Stating that CSS is better just by the fact that it has more interactive objects and radgoll physics is like saying Left 4 Dead 1 is better than 2 because you can see your feet and you die in different poses. CSGO is a big improvement in the franchise for making it one of the best competitive games in shooter games, adding not only the activate-defuse-bomb-game mechanic, but adding more game modes for different players. CSGO is better despite you can't turn the doorknob using Telekinesis...

      They can fix that without scrapping large gameplay mechanics. That's the very lazy solution. They can prevent you from planting in an area if a prop is in the way, so you would need to move it away. This justification of removing the physics is so petty and unreasonable.

    • @tatotaytoman5934
      @tatotaytoman5934 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@user-s9eu8ce9fw ?? why would physics matter in Counterstrike, it is a very competitive game and it must be as free from random environmental factors and potentially more glitches as the original comment said, additionally I think that counter strike source is lazier in that regard as they did not bother to counter for this fact and simply placed source props around the map . Additionally most of the "detailed features" in counter strike source aren't because of counter strike source, they are just features of the source engine which means the developers didn't add these in on purpose.
