@@miguelroda8779 Alec overwhelmed Nic with a high heavy ball to his backhand. Alec has far more weapons than Shamir. It will be a far more interesting match to watch, regardless of whether it is 6-0 or if it is close. Always fun to watch Ema's consistency and placement triumph over

I love watching you play Coach Nick, I love how you bring your two hander back way before the ball bounces on the court and you hit the ball so clean.
I just started playing singles again after not playing singles for 22 years. Yesterday I played my friend which is ranked a solid 4.5 player and I so far I played him 3 times. The first time I lost a pro set 8-4 after being up 3-1. Then I lost a set 7-5. Then yesterday I lost 6-3 6-0. I got pissed off in the 6-0 set because I literally was up 4 times in 4 different games on his serve and I missed returns, or I would stand there and watch him hit a ball in right by me, which I could have gotten a racquet on.
My problem is my two handed backhand is softer than Ice Cream, except on my return of serve where I crush returns.
My friend is from Chile and he hits a heavy topspin and I am able to play it only because I learned how to play the ball on the fly, but on my backhand side it’s complete trash and I literally started hitting left handed which through my opponent off a little bit, then he started crushing my backhand side. He is a super nice guy, and after I lost he said he would train me to be a better singles player if I was willing to put the work in. I have been training for 11 months watching your videos and hitting off the ball machine, and jogging and jumping rope and watching your videos. Along with my boys Kurae Sell, Simond Fuend. So far Coach I lost 50 pounds and I am moving better, just a little slower than I used to be my friend.
By the way you have some wheels Coach Nick, the video doesn’t give you credit of how fast and quick you are for a taller man, I would guess you are over 6’5 if I was to guess. I am only 5’7 and I literally shrinking. If I keep shrinking I am going to have to sit on your shoulders to hit a tennis ball. Hahe 😊 I also need to play every ball as if it was in, I catch myself standing flat footed in singles, but I don’t stand flat footed in doubles, I am constantly moving in doubles.
My goal is to win against my friend and I make him laugh, he is a serious fella sometimes but I do make him laugh when I joke around, he is learning English and I am learning to lose gracefully! Hahe I love playing tennis, but I am having really bad cramps at night and it’s tough to sleep, but I am still training and working hard to get better at tennis. Thank you Coach Nick and Alec for posting this video. I don’t know my rating but I am playing against 4.0 4.5 and two legitimate 5.0 players and I am able to win games off them. So I will figure out how to get rated and I will let you know what my rating is. Thanks again Coach Nick.

I am thinking that Nick was playing his serves and ground strokes at a lower level to set up points for his student. Emma would hit her ground strokes at a higher level. Although this 4.5 student has a fast first serve his ground stroke consistency and power didn’t hold up well against Nick who was hitting with the purpose of helping him stay in the points. Emma who plays at a professional level (6.0) is a lean mean ground stroke machine. Once a point goes into a rally she would be the stronger player. Just my assessment as an old High School and USTA Junior tennis coach.

What city in FL are you teaching Nic?
I always see you at different courts teaching on-line. Do you go out each morning and hope your fav public court is open or do you have an arrangement with ‘some entity’ where you are able to use their courts?

Nick is right. When a righty steps on a court with a lefty, he often forgot the opponent is a lefty. By the time you change up strategy you already lost games or sets.

Alec plays well. If he learned how to slide on hard court his game would take off. He’s very good in the middle but breaks down off balance. If he was able to slide on hard he could control his momentum on those shots on the run.

    • @bengray5013
