This is so great!!! I sooooooo needed to hear this. It sounds like common sense but it can become just as easy to be legalistic as it can be to be worldly. Thank you Paul!
Paul washer should have added movies and music in the list. There r many legalists who say secular music and movies are bad. Yet I have found and learnt and even got reminded of the attributes of God and his grace thru some secular movies and music.
Wow what a truth he is saying about the monkish legalistic type Christians. I've found myself restricting myself on certain guidelines and vehement separation from the world that I cannot find joy in the smallest of things and it makes me actually just want to abandon my faith altogether at times.

My sister tries her best try to get me to separate myself from life . She recently asked me what does the Bible say about spending time with those kind of people? I said first of all the word says do not fellowship and do as the lost do it don't say avoid the lost. I was second Jesus said those kind of people will inherit heaven first. But I was also thinking who suppose to be teaching who being she claims to be saved for ten years.
Listening for the first time(not to Paul Washer.. about the movie and this clip), I'm thinking, hearing about being amazed... 'blown away' .. by God's goodness, Lord Jesus, I thank you for Brother Paul.... his work, his insight. I don't know exactly what to say, but the verse that came to mind was in Matthew 11, after listening a couple times. ---- I can write... and write, but I'm going to study this today, since I sort of think it's where I was led. *shrugs* Jesus’ Tribute to John 7 As these men were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 8“But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ palaces! 9“But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet. 10“This is the one about whom it is written, ‘BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.’ 11“Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12“From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force. 13“For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14“And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is Elijah who was to come. 15“He who has ears to hear, let him hear. 16“But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places, who call out to the other children, 17 and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’ 18“For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ 19“The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”
Abstinance from carnal yet not sinful things is a blessings and removes possible stumbling blocks. Not sure if this verse may have some application... 1 Corinthians 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
Love for God must go beyond love for man and all that this world represents, it must also separate itself from its false beliefs that have been orchestrated by the religions, the traditions the political cults that have lent so much confusion to Fermenting a knowledge that leads only to the ignorance of pure divine truth. It is simply by believing on Jesus and his finished work on the cross. The Bible says that all of us have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. And because of our sin we all deserve to be sent to Hell. But God loves us and doesn't want us to go there. So God came in the form of Jesus Christ, lived a perfect life and took upon himself the sins of the world by dying on a cross and paying our sin debt. Salvation is a gift. And the bible says by simply believing on Jesus (his death, burial, and resurrection. Payment for ALL your sins). You can have eternal life. It is not by what you do, it is not Jesus + something. It's all faith alone. There's no catch, you don't have to do anything to earn it, keep it, maintain it, or prove you have it. Just believe on Christ alone and you will be saved. And God says that ALL sins, PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE, will be forgiven. He will remember them no more. So just come to Jesus just as you are in all your muck and mire. There are many people who are introverted and don't do well in groups of people. Doesn't mean they are not saved.

I think the world, here, means the physical world. Then it says, "nor the things of the world." Money, sex, food, etc.--don't love it.
The world there is not a physical world, it is referring to the priorities of life of the unregenerated people, and worldly ideas.
