Beauty. I had one in 1980 and loved it. I was the coolest kid on the block. Now I’m close to retirement and want another air cooled twin shock. Dreaming of an 81’ Maico. Thanks for the video.

A work of art. Loved the old CRs. All bikes of that era had personality. New bikes with 4 strokes all look the same.

Wow. What memories. My dad bought me the same bike brand new in '81. I still remember the price was $749. BRAND NEW. The YZs had mono shock by '81 but my CR had them on horsepower.

box swing arm in 81' was trick and way ahead of the opposition, I was always envious of that riding a YZ 80 H.great post and a trip down memory lane seeing and hearing this bike.

Hey thanks for the video!! I remember riding side by side with bikes like that, in the process of restoring my love, a 1981 YZ80. Parts are expensive and hard to find, but very worth the satisfaction to the heart!! Your bike looks and runs beautiful, fantastic job !!!!

Those little 80’s were sooo fkin fast !!! Scary !! Probably why they stopped makin em. I love the red skittle. The Honda’s- all of em really. Especially this beautiful rare authentic Elsinore

Emissions laws are what really put a stop to the good ole 2 strokes. The epa just doesnt like them oil burners., I guess they must have never ridden one before. It's a real shame these old 2 strokes are so fun and easy and cheap to repair but they are so old now that its next to impossible to find on that isn't totally clapped out.

My buddy bought one of those brand new in 81. I had a 1980 yz80 at the time . the cr was faster in a straight line but the yz handled better and had more bottom end. the cr was all top end

It's a 1981, the second year for the 80. Honda was kind of slow introducing bikes...
1980 was the first year for the CR80 and 1981 was the first year for an open class bike. The CR450...actually, it was 431cc - why they called a 450 I don't know - they had just the 125 and 250 before 1980

Best ride 'em easy for just a couple minutes. Can easily score a piston, etc, romping a cold motor, yo.
