  • In this video I will be repairing/modifying a faulty indicator flasher unit fitted on most BMW motorcycles made in the 90's (BMW1200C in my case). This modification will made the unit flash at the normal rate. These units tend to flash at a faster rate that normal when LED lamps are retrofitted or if the lamp feedback circuit is faulty.

    Hi,
I recently noticed two of your videos on TH-cam which I found educational.
I also own and ride a 1200C in Vancouver, Canada.
I would like to introduce the chromeheads forum to you in case you are unaware of or are not a member of (which I highly doubt). This forum is a GREAT wealth of knowledge with AWESOM founders and members that help each other from many locations across the world.
    Chers!

Hi, I have just checked and opened the flasher unit fitted to my 2001 R850R classic. (Part No. 61.31-2 306 979 is fitted to this bike) The circuit board looks pretty identical to the one fitted on the R1200c, albeit it has a different number. Try modifying like I did, you have nothing to lose. It's definitely worth doing before buying a new one. NB: The flasher unit for the R850R is mounted under the seat in the fuse/relay box RHS and is removed in the same way as the R1200c. Good luck!
