Every electronic component works on a secret smoke. As soon as secret smoke escapes, component stops working. :D LOL

Is there a solid state relay available for LED lamps? So the flash rate will be correct?

Great tip I appreciate since I own both and are 1100 S and and R1150R but my problem is bigger after the bike fell over on the right bank and when I finally got it upright now it smokes like hell.. The bike only has 7000 miles of a 1000 miles and ran perfect prior to this little mishap no I now I noticed a couple of drips of oil very minimal but prior no oil no smoke do you think this is going to clear itself obviously the oil ran into the right cylinder somewhat.. Will it get better or did something really get rearranged here ? Thank you kindly 🙏🙏

Hey guys! Great vid! High beam low beam lamps no go! Have voltage! WTH is going on?? I think it’s a ground problem 🤨

Problem resolved: 7.0 our job! Removed entire fairing and accessed headlight assembly. Found burned ground wire. Replaced section of wire (Brown) and soldered new spade connector on ground terminal. Lights (LED) work perfectly and saved on power consumption. Fog lamps, high/low beam lamps all LED and uses like 18 watts total. As apposed to 220 watts. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Thanks for this great short tutorial! My left turn signal on my R1100RT acts normal but my right turn signal goes twice the speed. This occurred after maintainance by my dealer. Can this be fixed by changing the relay?

For a quick-blinker the first thing I would do is test/replace the relay. My experience is 9 times out of 10 that fixes the issue. (same for cars!)

    Have a part number?

Found a solution - on the back of the circuit board of the solid state flasher relay there are two circuits that need to be cut, top circuit and an angled circuit near the top of the circuit board. th-cam.com/video/REYFATNRy5Q/w-d-xo.html

Hi guys. Great tip and thank you for this but what is the cause if you don't mind asking?

I was just wondering the same thing but I don't think we'll ever get the answer.

@@hansh3011 Hi there. As long as this guy doesn't answer i can not tell you also what is the problem...all i can say that there are many possible faults that you can fix it by eliminating them one by one. ;)

    • @hansh3011

@@dragosn69 Indeed, there is nothing to do but check everything. But it would have been nice to know something. It's better than nothing at all. However, some brake fluid has gone over the steering part, perhaps this will cause a problem. Or it was his time to break down. Just measure everything this week, and then hope for the best

@@hansh3011 Hi Hans. Yes ma' men it can be also this problem according to what you say. My bike for example everytime when i drive it, it has moments when push the indicator left or right and blinks normal few times and it has momements when is clicking fast (like when one light bulb is gone!) and then it clicks normal so: I've change the battery with a new one, I've change the v-belt( indeed it was used) and also check the relay for bad smell( but it's okey). Interesting is that one guy told me to inject some WD40 into the buttons and indeed it works normal now. Perhaps the rain and time coroded the contacts and this problem came wich is normal. Another problem with BMw motorcycle are plastic covers for electric part, they are dry now and self braking and the water goes in witch again can cause faults. This is what i found out and experienced on my own. ;)

@@dragosn69 That's how it started for me too. flashing light both from the left and from the right started flashing quickly. Until both blinkers turned on with the switch on my dashboard. over time, these remained lit (not blinking) and did not go out. Not even when I turned off the ignition. Drove it for a while until something started to smell, stopped to look and my flashing relay immediately caught fire, even the plug is now melted. So be careful. I haven't found out the cause yet. I'm going to investigate next week. Who knows I find something.
I think there is a ground fault somewhere. And do not use contact spray WD 40. contact spray is specially made for this and does not affect plastic parts, and dispels moisture. Good Luck
