      As of right now, they haven’t added that functionality. It can be done in Premiere pro though, which I’m going to do a video on.

      That currently isn't supported. You can do it on PC, but would have to do it in NLE software like Adobe Premiere.

    If I export in "view" when I put it on youtube I can use the 360 functions (move it side to side, up,down) . If I export out of free capture I just have a video. Am I missing something?

    • @patrickgensel
      @patrickgensel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Didier free capture is meant for you tou “point”the camera any way you want to frame up a regular format video. Where as view is meant to just export the video as a 360 video. So it really depends on how you want to use a particular video.

    • @patrickgensel
      @patrickgensel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe if you export as mp4, you can use the GoPro VR viewer on a computer, but im not sure in regard to a VR headset. If I get a chance i'll see if I can get my hands on a headset to test.

    I have some questions about this software.
    We bought one of these cameras at work, and it’s my job to figure out how it all works. The camera is easy to operate. But I’m having some trouble with export resolutions in Insta360 Studio.
    Working on iMac, not in the cellphone app, if that makes a difference.
    My test footage looks great in Insta360 Studio. But when I export it, it goes totally blocky pixelated and totally zoomed in.
    The only settings in Insta360 Studio that I’ve found that can be changed as far as exporting goes is only in View mode, where I can set the Bitrate(Mbps) to Original or Superb or whatever. In my tests, no matter what that setting is, the exported video always ends up blocky and pixelated and zoomed in.
    All I want is to do is export what I see in View Default mode, in the resolution that I see in Insta360 Studio, and with the video view/angle manipulatable by the viewer the same way it is in Insta360 Studio.
    Is this not possible?

    • @patrickgensel
      @patrickgensel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      the only way the view will be manipulatable by the viewer is either if they have Insta360 studio/other 360 software, or you upload it to TH-cam, Facebook, or another site that supports 360 video.

    • @HumorlessProductions
      @HumorlessProductions 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrickgensel Ya, that's ok. All our stuff will end up on YT anyway.
      I just need to find the way to export my footage so that it doesn't look all degraded.
      Example. Like this guy's video. Manipulatable and looks sharp. th-cam.com/video/0JKba6cy60c/w-d-xo.html

      mistadj I’m not 100% sure what the system requirements call for, but my i5 iMac struggled with it. My AMD Ryzen 7 powered pc on the other hand seems to run it fine. I’ll look at the specs and see what it’s calling for.

    • @mistadj
      @mistadj 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrickgensel ok... It seems crazy that a camera would require such specs to work correctly. Never had this issue with gopro apps. All editing I have to do from my phone but that's not good either since it used all my space. Any way to install the app on the SD card instead? I been lookin... Haven't found away yet

    • @patrickgensel
      @patrickgensel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mistadj it's not so much the camera that's the issue. the files and how they work are what is so heavy. basically the computer has to handle two very high resolution video files, stitch them together into a sphere, then allow that stitched video to be played, and moved around. the Go Pro cameras, while still high resolution, are on a flat plane, and only have one file to deal with, and no stitching. i'm not familiar with Android use, but ill see if I can find a way to run the app from the sd card, though i suspect that will degrade performance since it isn't running directly from the phone storage, though i could be wrong.

  • @mistadj
    @mistadj 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had my camera almost a week... The software is a disaster for pc and Android... There is no way it should be this bad... Compared to gopro app, this is 20yrs backwards...

    • @patrickgensel
      @patrickgensel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, the software isn't the greatest, If the camera didnt do such a good job, I probably wouldn't be using this product. That being said, you do have the option of editing in Premiere Pro using the GoPro VR Plugins. I will do a video on that next.

  • @phila3884
    @phila3884 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the tutorial. You did explain one tool that others missed-how to precisely place the cursor. I couldn't find any frame advance shortcuts, but the keyframe timer can be used to get the keyframe exactly where you want it.

  • @TLgamer_TL
    @TLgamer_TL 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I didn't learn a thing from this video except even more confusion than I started with. No one knows what the word Keyframe means, they don't know anything about it which means if you cannot tell people what the definition of keyframe even means, then explain the reason it's even in these types of software, then don't even say that word anywhere in the video, in fact do not even bring it up and click on whatever options are involved with it. I'm so fed up with people who make videos that are supposed to be tutorials, and never even bother to actually make a real tutorial.

    Thanks. I'll be browsing this channel a lot I'm sure. Any thoughts on the inverting of the video. Here's what I will be doing. I am ice fishing this weekend and have the dive case. I will be putting camera onto selfie stick and and sticking it though a hole directly adjacent to another hole where we will be releasing the fish we catch. The effect I'd like to get is having the hole above me as a viewer then start the remaining editing from that point. So, finding a way to invert the entire video as a starting place seems like a reasonable place to begin. Thoughts? Thanks LLoyd

    • @patrickgensel

      I don't believe that desktop app does auto tracking of subjects yet. I was moving the framing manually, and creating keyframes to make it track the subject.
