Downloaded and tried it out. At first it crashed coz i think i dragged & dropped a .MOV file format. Then after converting to MP4 seems to work like a charm. Thanks Ben!
Ben, this tutorial is great. Frustratingly, Adobe Premiere 5.5 doesn't seem to allow output a video file the same resolution as our 360 photos, so your trick doesn't work in software that old... Do you or anybody know of a video editor that can output 6080x3040 without having to get all the way into Premiere Pro CC? I'm not a pro video editor, I'm not doing this all the time... I literally have 1 photo I want to do a re-frame animation of. I find it so frustrating that Insta360 Studio just doesn't make this possible inside the software. It seems *SO* obvious a desirable feature. Anyway, if there is any other video editor or way to convert a 360 photo -> 5 to 10 second video that I can get back into Insta360 Studio that would be awesome. If anybody has a hint, thanks!

Thanks for the software and tutorial. Finally found the solution to converting spherical 360 images of my drones to videoclips I can use for editing. Unfortunately I ran into a stubborn issue, I haven't found in the other comments. After importing the image as .mp4 clip (30s long, 3840x1920) and editing in some keyframes and transitions it plays well in the Insta360 Studio. When rendering the clip the progress bar moves up to about 75% and then jumps to 100%. It produces an mp4-file that shows all transitions but the last 25% of the transitions are ignored and the image remains at the last state. Checked it with two different images. Any idea what could cause that (settings, hardware, user)?
As another new owner of an Insta360 cam I much appreciate your fantastic tutorials and can´t thank you enough for themm. But may I also ask, how you achieved this everso cute and charming "little man-effect"??? Never seen something like this before and am so intrigued! :D

Great video on showing what's possible with this camera in regard to software. I've been curious about using 360 cameras for traditionally framed video. Most of the videos I've seen only use an app, so knowing there is an actual computer application is really appealing!
I don’t understand all the exporting settings. For TH-cam and Facebook what is the best exporting settings? Is 3820 or 1080 better? Also, what bit rate I see you have 18 but others do 60? Also, h264 or h265? There is a huge black Stitching Line and the video is very blurry. Why? Maybe due to wrong exporting settings? It’s fine in the Desktop Studio App but only happens when it’s exports.
Great Video Mr. Ben, I tried this with fusion stitched video but it is not working with .MOV video format, is there any alternate way to use for GoPro Fusion user?

Great video Ben, thank you. While playing with the software I couldn’t find the hyper lapse or some of the other features that are on the mobile app. Am I just missing them? Or are those functions only on the mobile app?
What am I doing wrong? After creating key frames, the video locks me to 1920x1080, and comes out like standard 2D flat videography. I know you aren't support for this unit, but Action Director support hasn't really been helpful
Hi Ben, thank you for this video, I was wondering if you had any advice as my footage is ridiculously stuttering in the Studio, but on my phone it is fine. I have an older macbook pro (mid 2010) which could be the issue. any advice would be great as I cant find any system requirements anywhere for insta360 one x
Great video, I'm new to 360, In the studio editor in FreeCapture I can't pan the video left or right what ever I try and also I haven't any insv files only vids I'm on a mcbook pro.. can you help please
Having read your E-Book „Life in 360“ I wonder whether I now can forget about all the great editing apps you suggested there: ROLLWORLD, SNAPSEED etc. But what, if I wanted to use them for editing Insta360 one x - images: How would I import files from that camera to the software you mentioned??? Keep up your great work! Walter
your tutorial helps a lot in understanding the INSTA STUDIO. What I'm really missing is, how to controll the speed (1/4 1/2 2 4 8 ....) between Keyframes, like you can do easily with the Android-APP in ViewFinder-Mode. Is there any secret I should know about?
Same for me. I'm starting to think you can only do that in the apple app. Which would be completely stupid. I have a PC and no Apple products. I cant find this app for Android.
Hey Ben, I have a question, maybe you can help. Is the .insv file unstiched? So do I need to stitch it before I can upload it to youtube as a 360 video? Say I just want to use studio to stitch rather than trim clips etc how do I do that?
Great Video. I've spent the weekend watching your stuff after buying a One X. Question - if I'm already fairly comfortable with Final Cut is there any advantage to using Insta Studio aside from having to first stitch the video in Studio to be used in FCP? In other words, if FCP also supports keyframes and the other things outlined here would I be missing anything else? I'd have to assume that FCP has lots of other features that Studio does not? Repeat same question for the Insta mobile app. ;-)
Awesome video, thanks. Question: I took some footage with a friend's Ricoh Theta and when they sent me the video files, they are MP4 with two circles of video. Insta360 does not see it as a 360 video so I can't use the Free Capture mode. Have you experienced any issues like this?
Hi, Ben. Thank you for this amazing tutorial. I have a question: is it possible for me to "reframe" a 360 video without losing the ability to look around? For example: I'm shooting inside my house. My next clip will be outside, but I want people to start looking at some specific tree. Is it possible?
Thanks- in that case you’re not reframing.. you’re keeping it as 360. The only way to do this is with Facebook uploads, and using the ‘guide’ tool. I have a tutorial about that 👍
Another great video, have learned so much from you - Thank You. Is there or will there be a way to remove objects from a 360 video with this software.? Is there a FREE software or app that does allow one currently to remove objects from a 360 video.? ((I know how to remove objects from a photo using TouchRetouch))
@@BenClaremont I was afraid you were going to tell me that - thank you for your prompt reply - after effects does indeed do a great job with video, it's just pricey.!
Hi Ben. I´ve been using Insta360 Studio for a while based on your recommendations. It works just fine in MP4 (pre-stitched) footage from my Gear 360 and Keymission 360. However, unfortunately I can´t do the trick with footage from my new Garmin Virb 360 :( It doesn´t recognize the Mp4 files (pre-stitched on camera) as 360 video. I´m stuck with Virb Edit for now.
That’s because the VIRB footage is the wrong aspect ratio (16:9). Studio only recognizes equirectangular 2:1 files so you’ll have to resize them first.
Awesome Ben, thanks for introducing the new Insta software. It seems pretty powerful and easy to use. I noticed when you did your edit the horizon was crooked, is that something you could have straightened in the software? Thanks,
Thanks- hmm it didn’t look too crooked to me. It uses flowstate stabilization for One X footage so after exporting that should fix all horizon issues. For other cameras it won’t fix an unlevel horizon 👍
That was solid.. I reckon most of these things and info's are still as relevant in the present Insta360 studio2021 version. gonna check if there is a newer video from ur end on Insta360 studio, and perhaps a walkthrough of newer features. Looks like there is 2 vids on insta360 one from early 2017 (feb)( and one from early 2019 (feb) though 2021 (feb) still MIA
Hey Ben, great video. Thanks for sharing this information, I wanted to ask if we could edit two videos together in sequence in the insta360 app just like creating a sequence of videos in premier pro? Whenever I try to import another file it opens up in as another project
Will all the insta360 features on the ONE X work the same when using the EVO? I'm asking because I wan't to get the EVO for 180 3D but would still like to re-frame 360 or 180 with stabilization... And what about doing this same thing for 180 3D videos? Can you do the same in 3D or Flat? Thanks,
So I am having major issues getting the time flip to recognize me and not a random person in the street for some of my clips, is there any way I can reframe it? I did 3 takes of each wall, but it's only allowing me to use one take from the 30 second clip and not show the other two takes for some odd reason.
Great tutorial! Thanks Ben

If i follow step by step this tutorial, i stil can’t import 360 photo to video in Insta360 studio. Première pro settings demand more options i gues?
This is a great video Ben! I have one question. How can I cut out a middle part of the video if I don't need it?
Thanks!
You may have to edit the start and end as 2 individual clips 👍
Great video Ben, thank you. While playing with the software I couldn’t find the hyper lapse or some of the other features that are on the mobile app. Am I just missing them? Or are those functions only on the mobile app?
Yeah only in the mobile app unfortunately
Well dang. It’s still awesome though. Thank you for your time.
What am I doing wrong? After creating key frames, the video locks me to 1920x1080, and comes out like standard 2D flat videography. I know you aren't support for this unit, but Action Director support hasn't really been helpful
Keep going Ben !
Will do
How do I upload 360 photo to Flickr
is ther anywhere you can get a 360 video file to practive on whilst you wait for your camera to arrive?
Hi Ben, thank you for this video, I was wondering if you had any advice as my footage is ridiculously stuttering in the Studio, but on my phone it is fine. I have an older macbook pro (mid 2010) which could be the issue. any advice would be great as I cant find any system requirements anywhere for insta360 one x
Great video, I'm new to 360, In the studio editor in FreeCapture I can't pan the video left or right what ever I try
and also I haven't any insv files only vids I'm on a mcbook pro.. can you help please
I don’t quite understand.. but you’re not following the correct workflow if it’s not panning. Check all the steps and try again 👍
Finally. Long awaited! Thanks for the tut
No worries 👍
hi guys, is it possible in Studio to select fragments, part from video to change the speed of a video, as it is done in a smartphone app ?
Having read your E-Book „Life in 360“ I wonder whether I now can forget about all the great editing apps you suggested there: ROLLWORLD, SNAPSEED etc.
But what, if I wanted to use them for editing Insta360 one x - images: How would I import files from that camera to the software you mentioned???
Keep up your great work! Walter
Hi Walter, yes you can also edit tiny planets in this software!
your tutorial helps a lot in understanding the INSTA STUDIO.
You can only do it in the mobile app, not desktop unfortunately
How do I get this on my MacBook? the app doesn't work on the MacBook, but does on my phone and iPad.
Repeat same question for the Insta mobile app. ;-)
No reason- just pick with workflow you like best :)
Awesome video, thanks.
Question: I took some footage with a friend's Ricoh Theta and when they sent me the video files, they are MP4 with two circles of video. Insta360 does not see it as a 360 video so I can't use the Free Capture mode. Have you experienced any issues like this?
See the video I made about this- your footage hasn’t been stitched
I have a tutorial about that 👍
Fantastic video Ben, lots of content there. Loved it!
🍻
Great job explaining this software. It was just what we needed!
Another great video, have learned so much from you - Thank You.
Is there or will there be a way to remove objects from a 360 video with this software.?
Is there a FREE software or app that does allow one currently to remove objects from a 360 video.?
((I know how to remove objects from a photo using TouchRetouch))
Thanks! At the moment there isn’t such a thing that’s free. You have to use masking techniques in Premiere or After Effects
Good info, Ben! Thanks for the clear explanation.
Pleasure
Awesome Ben, thanks for introducing the new Insta software. It seems pretty powerful and easy to use. I noticed when you did your edit the horizon was crooked, is that something you could have straightened in the software? Thanks,
Thanks- hmm it didn’t look too crooked to me. It uses flowstate stabilization for One X footage so after exporting that should fix all horizon issues. For other cameras it won’t fix an unlevel horizon 👍
ohh man I really have to get this software. I have been doing this all on my phone but never get 5.7k
👍
That was solid.. I reckon most of these things and info's are still as relevant in the present Insta360 studio2021 version.
gonna check if there is a newer video from ur end on Insta360 studio, and perhaps a walkthrough of newer features.
Looks like there is 2 vids on insta360 one from early 2017 (feb)( and one from early 2019 (feb) though 2021 (feb) still MIA
Is it possible to take out the tripod on the ground?
Thanks, I had know idea how to use this software, so I really appreciate your time and tutorial.
Hey Ben, great video. Thanks for sharing this information, I wanted to ask if we could edit two videos together in sequence in the insta360 app just like creating a sequence of videos in premier pro? Whenever I try to import another file it opens up in as another project
At the moment you still have to export them clip by clip.. it won’t take long though to join them up in Premiere 👍
can we track a point in insta360 studio or can we only do this in the app?
Nice job Ben. I love the new update.
It’s great!
Thanks,
Yes for 360, no for 180
Doesn't matter how many fb groups I join, the important news I always get here first ;)
Glad to hear it 😎
So I am having major issues getting the time flip to recognize me and not a random person in the street for some of my clips, is there any way I can reframe it? I did 3 takes of each wall, but it's only allowing me to use one take from the 30 second clip and not show the other two takes for some odd reason.
Can you make a video of "how to edit any 360 video with insta360 one x app"? It will be great
No because it’s not possible
what version of studio is this?.. I cannot get the 2020 version to work correctly. Will not export video.
