What a wonderful video, Tim. The ratty is one I must visit, also considering that wonderful scenery! And thanks for including the video of your out of range homing drone!
Thanks David. Re modern technology, I've had three Chinese DJI drones, each a step up on the previous one, and all have proved totally reliable. Am I tempting fate by saying that?
A very worthwhile journey No rain, lovely scenic walk and nice steam train rides, as well as meeting a few friends. We won't be enjoying fine days like this for a while as the nights draw in again and colder days ahead.
Excellent video Tim, you picked a rare dry day up there for your walk around the hills. I must try the railway up there one of these days, more likely in the summer, if we get one? Thanks again for all your hard work.
The days are getting noticeably shorter now so perhaps you should book some provisional dates for next summer - I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you do.
Well Tim you should have been at Carlisle station today because it was chaous for two reasons. 1 overhead wire problems between Lockerbie and carstairs ment no trains to Edinburgh or Glasgow and 2 somebody was hit by a train near London Euston which ment no trains ran between Crewe/ Birmingham/rugby and Euston for most of the afternoon
Nice! If you ever visit the US, you might see the world's largest diesel and steam locomotives! UP Big Boy 4014 is still operational, and you might see it hauling excursions on the many UP subdivisions! As for the world's largest diesel locomotive, only UP 6936 is operational. It's an EMD DDA40X, aka a Centennial
Steam trains, scenery and hiking during the daytime, good ale and good company in the evening - what more could I ask for? A good video was inevitable! Thank you.
30:25 they're planning to do this to and from the moon by 2035. Still US satellite tech though - and most of the ICs are still US. Don't know for how long. Good vid. Hope you aren't carrying too much up those hills . . . I guess Eskdale wouldn't notice much happening if they got the downpours instead of the south .
a) they'll need something bigger than my drone! b) I've been flying Chinese technology now for three years - no problems so far c) I'm carrying FAR too much! d) you're dead right! Best wishes.
