I used to do the usual watering straight afterwards, but I’ve done this numerous times now and I think it’s better. If you’ve just scalped you might as well water immediately, but if you were in my position you let that grass push up first and then water. For me that was those 2 days
Great video and great insight. A quick question seeing that you are in the shade and your turf looks excellent for a shade intolerant kikuyu grass. How do you manage to keep it in good condition under shade? Most of the of us the kikuyu folk struggle to deal with shade.
Shade is a problem for Kikuyu, although mines LM in the deeper shader areas. It’s best to try thin out your trees from the inside so that Maré light passes through them. I also trim the lower branches to help further
@@BackyardBushveld Thank you, I think I can start now if that is the case. I already did mixed top soil, just spreading it around. Now I have very unpleasant weeds. I am going to deal with that then will sculp and level.
Not watering after dressing is an interesting option, I always watered. Going to try that next time. Thanks!

Great video! Especially the info about not mixing sand with clay!
Thanks bud! Very coarse particles are fine to some extent but definitely not fine sand. That will solidify quickly
Dankie dat jy jou kennis deel en vir al die tips, ek is tans self besig om my gras uit te "smooth". Goed gaan en lekker aand verder.
Geen probleem! Eks bly dit help vir iemand tenminste😂

Great details provided.. where did you buy the top soil from? Want a similar product for my lawn.
Thanks bud! I’m in Pretoria and so I used my favourite local supplier, Newlands sand.

This some great advice and tips here. Thanks BB i will definitely subscribe to your channel 👌
Thanks bud!
When in the year, should you be doing this? I have never done this before, I want to plan for this.
The long and short is that you can do this anytime the grass is actively growing. So anytime from early spring to mid autumn basically.

Do you have any advice on how to make LM grass spread faster?
Mow a little taller and often, feed it with good fert with ratio around 4:1:2 and keep it watered nicely.
@BackyardBushveld thank you so much. I will definitely be trying it out ❤️
Bro where did you get the lawn leveler from ?
Hey man, I sell them on my site www.backyardbushveld.co.za

Daai is harde werk!
New sub. Great video.
