I would probably disconnect the negative battery terminal and step on the brake pedal a few times to make sure the system was completely discharged before messing with airbags.

I would advise disconnecting the battery and waiting 90 seconds before disconnecting the airbag connector.

My Prius Gen 3 has an airbag in the A pillar, can I still pull out same as you or is there a different process?

Insert a small flat head screw driver into the slot on the plug against the frame, the plug will then slide off
