Sorry to hear what happened Mark. Sometimes we expect the unexpected as one of my classmates used to say. They say that time is money, but money comes and goes. Each minute that passes by is a minute that we can't get back. Life doesn't wait for anybody. Family is number 1 priority. Better opportunities will appear eventually Mark. Let's enjoy life to the fullest while we can.
Keep your head up Mark, you'll bounce back better, well deserved rest, supporting you throughout all times, and when one door closes, another one opens, never give up Mark, Salamat 👍
Been there done that. I had 3 months off when I got laid off at the end of 2022 and my job found me about mid way through that. Sometimes things are meant to be and find a way of leading you into something better. Those 3 months off were wonderful and really reset me!
Hang in there Mark. I know the feeling quite well myself. In a short time, you will be on your feet again with a new and much better gig. You still have a lot of IT skills that are very remarkable and there are plenty of companies that are looking for a man of your talents. Keep those everything r/c videos coming. Peace and love to you and your family. Take care brother.
Wish I knew you were in NYC! Would have come tried to find you in the big city. Hope you enjoyed your stay and thanks for sharing a more personal moment.

Well that’s b a good way to stay positive I live in Arizona and when I was a single dad I have major gaps in my work history nobody will hire me here in Arizona I’m always looking for work and it seems like a never ending battle
I retired at 45. I made it 3 years and couldn't handle it. I got lazy and unmotivated. I'm working again but it's not in the field I retired from and it's zero stress. It makes it different when you're working because you want to rather than have to. Also my favorite part of New York was leaving the last time I was there and knowing I never had to go back. New York, Ohio, and Illinois are slightly below tertiary syphilis on my list of favorite things. Slightly below them is that DNC thing I almost swear I heard you mention planning to visit. Strange how this hobby can attract such polar opposites.
haha... its all good. I didnt specify the DNC being the Dirt Nitro Challenge. Im sure the non RC people will think its something totally different given the election... hahaha!
I have brothers who work in IT. You're on call all the time and you do work a lot of hours. And this is why it's beneficial to live within one's means, budget, not be leveraged up to your neck in debt. Glad you have the opportunity to take some time off. Enjoy. Seems like you'll be just fine. Enjoy the channel. Keep up the good work.
I’ve always been a terrible employee. My timeline for advancement and desire for interesting challenges leaves me bored and disappointed with traditional jobs. Starting my own business was the best thing I ever did for myself and it forced me to learn faster which can be stressful but never boring. However, due to the economy my business had to be put on hold and I had to get an hourly job a couple months ago. I have some RC related business ideas and a 4x4 CNC machine (I’m a woodworker and carpenter) so I’m working on some product ideas that I can mass produce using my CNC machine.
As a 51-year-old guy I recommend not going back to being an employee. I stopped being an employee in 2018 when I moved to Florida from Massachusetts. I have an LLC sole proprietor. I subcontract so I don’t have to hunt down customers. I found my niche and I make six figures. I call it partial retirement because I do what I want, when I want. But I still work five days a week sometimes six. But everything’s on my terms. I have very little stress and very little responsibility. It’s an easier lifestyle.
I am 90% sure this will be the path I take. There is a little more to it that I will spill when the time is right. Thank you for your story it is very encouraging.
@@msmeveryday thanks for sharing so much of your life Mark you’re an awesome guy. I met you at the Armageddon in Bradenton Florida. I’m sure this is still a tough time for you, but I’m also sure you’ll make the best of it and you’ll find a new even better opportunity.
Dang man I pulled the trigger on my comment my bad. If I know anything about you, it's you're super resourceful and a great leader. I've seen that in person. You got this bro!
You got family and friends always behind you brother! Just keep looking forward and don't look back! It's their loss! That's how I look at it! That's all you need!
I have been in IT for 26 years. I went to work for the state government. It pays a lot less but has some job security, insurance and retirement. We have contracted out several things and it did not pan out. It always cost more and less service provided. Partly because the contract did not state everything thing they expected the contractor to do. At one point Our IT Dept. needed Project managers and though a few told me I should apply I decided not to go that route. Those jobs come and go. Some of the ones that did apply are already doing something else. They were the ones I thought were top achievers and great skills so glad I stayed behind. At least they got moved to other positions. Mark I hope everything works out for you and you get your job\business in self employment you are thinking about. You never know until you try!
That kind of news is always hard to take no matter what position you are in I think. I felt like I was on a great path myself and my company decided to leave CA after I put about 12 years into my career there. I've had other opportunities and started up again, then covid hit and found myself once again hitting that reset button. We've always been a single income home and I can say I've been lucky enough and dedicated enough to keep us that way and with minimal impact on our kids. Good for you sir and I hope the best for you and your family as well. Take Care and look forward to see what you bring next! Probably catch you at the Socal Super Show next year right?!
I really hope you will find whatever makes you happy. Money is important but feeling happy is the key to success. I lost almost everything but I still wake up early in the morning and feel blessed to have a wonderful family, wonderful wife. Wish you all the best, you’re a good guy 👍💪
Mark, God works in many different ways. I too retired after I was laid off at the age of 41. I felt like I had let my family down. But I now have time to do what I want and I have more money than I ever had while working. Trust God it will work out. You’ll see.
