    Very good work!
    The M750 is one of my favorite motorcycles because of how balanced it is.
    I have restored a Suzuki Bandit 400 from the year 1993 and, now that I have finished it, I need to find another project and I am evaluating the possibility of looking for a Monster 750 or 900.
    I loved your work. Congratulations.

    @BedsideGnome I usually use Gunk for a general outside clean up when a bike is very greasy/oily in places, toothbrushes or similar to agitate it then hose off. Once fairly clean and back inside working on individual bits I either use WD40 if it just needs a good wipe or paraffin in a container with toothbrush if its quite messy still. Finish off unpainted plastics silicone spray. Rusty items get the wirewheel treatment and resprayed as necessary

    @MrSniuolis Thanks. re the ride height bolt kit. Think it was louigimoto com who I read about on a forum selling them. There's nothing listed on their site so called and explained what I was after than they were still doing them. Cost was around £25 iirc so paid by card over the phone and the kit arrived in a few days.

    you'd make that bike a lot better by ditching the marzocchi forks and putting some showas off a later monster on or adjustable showas off an ST2 or ST4...replaced the marzocchis on a GT1000 recently and it transformed the bike totally

    Hey MoiX1970, good work guv!! Where did you get the rear ride height adjusters?

  • @MoiX1970
    @MoiX1970  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just because they had Ducati written on them does make them good, they were pants, looked pants and so I got rid of them. I agree the cans aren't top notch but they came cheap and made the right noise and have to add Monsters are built to a budget. Thanks for the comment though.
    btw the bike is now sold and moved onto something else for a second bike as at the end of the day I found the monster a bit gutless and lacking somewhat

    @TheMotocycleRestorer Thank you. This one is now sold and just like the others sad to see it go but if I didn't let one go, I couldn't get something else to tinker with :=D

    @maximilianrodliff you probably can but I wouldn't bother as some bolts you don't want to replace for safety reasons such as brake calliper bolts where oem is safest mainly as stainless steel has different properties to whatever the oem bolts are and you wouldn't want to risk s/s snapping or not torquing up properly. Its easiest to go on ebay and search for m5, m6 cap head bolts (engine mainly) and buy a variety pack with different lengths. You might also want some with button heads

  • @MoiX1970
    @MoiX1970  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @maximilianrodliff - Could be the springs but there's also some Teflon (or similar) coated sliders in forks which are the main thing thats there to reduce stiction and could be that coating is worn which if they gets too worn will result in metal to metal on your chrome legs which then gets pricey. Your fork oil could also be old which would result in poor damping. In short, you'll benefit from a complete fork service to bring them back to close to new. Cost? no idea, maybe £100-150

      louigimoto.com someone tipped me off to call this guy/place and he was doing them. Think they were £20 or so but bear in mind this was 6 years ago so he might not still be doing them.

    Is this the carburetor model or the electronic ignition?

    • @MoiX1970
      @MoiX1970  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      those are two different things, carbs/injectors provide fuel & electronic ignition which replaced points, provides the sparks

    • @MoiX1970
      @MoiX1970  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carbs with Electronic Ignition to answer your query, you'd be hard pressed to find a bike made int eh last 40 years that doesn't have electronic ignition, carbs, perhaps 20 years+

    You shouldn't trash levers that had Ducati written on them for ebay chinese ones! You don't do that my friend... The cans are pretty rubbish too, like cheap copies or something. The rest is very nice though, I shall admit!
