I have the 2023 ct4-v blackwing the gearbox is amazing plus you can no lift shift I don’t think you can in the other 2… like they said it came down to the drivers is all.

Not that it would have drastically changed the outcomes, but the no lift shift makes a distinct sound when activated. If you let off the gas just a little it won't work. The Topher does a review, check out the 15:30ish mark of his video to see what I mean Also, from a 30 roll the caddy should be in 1st gear. It can get to 50 in first, supra and Z second is best, top out under 40 in first.

I have a Blackwing and they’re faster if you shift around 6,100 RPM instead of taking them up to redline. The car tells you the optimal point to shift with a little green, yellow, red animation in the tachometer if you pay attention to it. I suspect the host of these videos doesn’t know that and that’s why his car always underperforms.

After this and the M3 video, I'm convinced the BW is getting the short end of the stick, and I'll openly say I don't drive manual but I know enough and have read enough between these 2 videos to conclude that the bw driver doesn't get all of that tranny, which makes me question if no lift shift was used or not, seems like a lot of power cuts out in between shifts, after constant feedback, why not switch drivers??? I can totally see the B58 beating the bw in a quarter mile run, but there's no way you can convince me that the Z is faster then the BW from a dig, regardless I'd put big money on the bw in a top end race with out a question, top end and around track is where the BW shines
If all 3 are stock and all 3 are manual then the Supra should win. If any one of them are automatic and the others are manual then the automatic should win. Should be a really interesting race no matter what.

I think the CT4 did ok considering its hundreds of pounds heavier then both cars but I think between the supra being underrated by at least 40hp and those cars being 2 door cs the caddy a 4door it was just a lil too much for it. A better matchup would be the Stinger GT vs CT4v vs Dodge charger 392

Manual cars make the driver way more important in the outcome of races. So the outcome could be closer than expected, but on paper the Supra should win pretty easily 🤔
manual transmissions also make said cars slower than theyd be if equipped with an auto trans like the ZF8. the biggest gripe people had with the traditional sludhboxes was that it delivered a super delayed response to driver input and could never find the right gear quickly enough. that isnt the case anymore

Not even remotely true. Even the automatic CT4-V BW are hitting 420s at the wheel on a dyno. It looks like this needs a proper driver mod to really ring it out considering C&D hit 0-60 in 4 flat in their manual ct4-v BW review

The Supra's shifting seems in my opinion to be just a small bit quicker than the Cadillacs. Im not saying it was the driver, but watching the drag races, the cadallic would lose incrimental amounts of distance on the Supra during the shifting, and only while shifting. I would enjoy seeing these vehicles drag race again, but next time with different transmissions. I think that is only fair to compare on that level as well because of how close the vehicles are in both horse power, as well as weight. Yes the Supra does have the advantage in curb weight, but I dont think that a few hundred pounds would decide the winner of the drag races. I enjoyed this video none the less, and look forward to seeing more videos like this.

After seeing the results I initially thought that GM must be overrating their HP numbers - but I looked up some dyno sheets on the CT4-V Blackwing and it's pretty consistently putting out more than 400whp. I suppose it's just not able to really put all its power to the ground, thus getting beat by other cars that put out less power...? Thanks for the race!!
yes at least 300 lbs more than the other two.. but i own the ct4 BW and love it it's the best car out of the bunch to live with day to day and good visibility unlike the supra which you can barely see out of.
Besides weight, at least with the supra, it's been known to have more power than rated for both 2 port 2020 models and even more for the 6 port models on dynos. About 380s whp for 2020 and 400whp for the 6 ports

My top 3 were always the CTS-V, Chevy ss, and Lexus ISF. Never wanted coupes but only 3 coupes really call my name Imani that's the corvette C7 ZR1, Chevy camaro ZL1, and the supra. I hate coupes other than those. Supra out of them all really is my #1 for money to performance and looks. I wish they make a 4 door version in a lexus suit because I gave up on the isf coming back but also the older isf are insanely pricey
The B58s are no joke (Supra engine) and they're under rated from their true hp numbers, they actually make over 380 whp, which is more then the advertised 380 crank hp, and at 500 less lbs it should do what it did from the dig, but the V losing to the Z is just living proof that its the driver, and I don't think the V driver was utilizing the no lift shift, which results in the V losing boost and power in between shifts, it's actually quite visually noticeable from the out side of car camera view, I'd be willing to put good money on the V in every race from a 50-60 mph roll, assuming the driver is using no lift shift or better yet, the 10 speed
Z biggest issue is traction off the line with better tyres Z will be very close to the Supra check hagerty out. The auto Z did 12.3s @ 116mph and the manual Z did 12.8s @ 112mph the auto only Supra at the time did it 12.1s @ 117mph 0.2 tenths and 1 mph difference really separate the autos from each other. As per hagerty the Z with a grippier set of tyres would have kept up with the Supra. And did I forgot to mention that the Japanese spec Z performance weighs less than the US an Canadian spec at 3403lbs. People talk about the Supras auto way faster but reality not so as proven by hagerty they are a lot closer than people think. In fact the Z with same tyres as the Supra should be the same. Now on the track is where the Supra really outshines the Z. Let’s see what the new Z nismo does when it goes on sale. I don’t know why people love to hate on the Z. We people should be thankful they made it.

The blackwing is barely on the level of an m340i and the b58 is the better platform. The only reason to choose the blackwing is the manual, which frankly is a bmw fail because the powerband of the b58 is much more suited than the s58
The manual in the Blackwing is incredible. Also keep in mind the CT4 V Blackwing has superior driving dynamics to the M3 as it has better road feel and steering(something BMW has struggled with for a decade now). If you take the Blackwing down some canyon roads.. you'll have more fun vs an M3.. just the unfortunate truth about it. In many other scenarios the m3 may be a better place to be though

That’s the m3’s job and the fairer comparison which if you compare the gold standard test of track performance the Nurburgring the m3 xDrive is faster and on a drag strip the chicken wing isn’t even in the same zip code. The problem with the Cadillac is not it’s chassis it’s that v6 doesn’t even stack up to the b58 let alone s58 and that’s a fact. Both the b58 and s58 are better engines. So for commuter the m340i is the winner and for the track and strip the m3 comp xDrive is also the winner the Cadillac is for people who want a stick and can’t afford the extra $10k that the m3 comp xDrive cost. But that extra $10k not only buys you more performance it buys you better build quality, technology, and fit/finish.

unless you live on a racetrack i agree with Sam, you can't see a thing out of the stupid supra and having 4 doors is so much more practical. I've been in all 3 cars and own the ct4 for the same reasons. My next choice would've been the Z for the cool retro look and analog feel.
I have a Blackwing and they’re faster if you shift around 6,100 RPM instead of taking them up to redline. The car tells you the optimal point to shift with a little green, yellow, red animation in the tachometer if you pay attention to it. I suspect the host of these videos doesn’t know that and that’s why his car always underperforms.

After this and the M3 video, I'm convinced the BW is getting the short end of the stick, and I'll openly say I don't drive manual but I know enough and have read enough between these 2 videos to conclude that the bw driver doesn't get all of that tranny, which makes me question if no lift shift was used or not, seems like a lot of power cuts out in between shifts, after constant feedback, why not switch drivers??? I can totally see the B58 beating the bw in a quarter mile run, but there's no way you can convince me that the Z is faster then the BW from a dig, regardless I'd put big money on the bw in a top end race with out a question, top end and around track is where the BW shines

Manual cars make the driver way more important in the outcome of races. So the outcome could be closer than expected, but on paper the Supra should win pretty easily 🤔
manual transmissions also make said cars slower than theyd be if equipped with an auto trans like the ZF8. the biggest gripe people had with the traditional sludhboxes was that it delivered a super delayed response to driver input and could never find the right gear quickly enough. that isnt the case anymore

@@racer247incorrect , most super cars and hyper cars have a manual transmission but it’s no longer a lazy stick and clutch . Now they have instant gear changes with paddles. You can still do all of the things the “save the manuals” guys scream about but now you can keep both hands on the wheel and no lift shift .

Not even remotely true. Even the automatic CT4-V BW are hitting 420s at the wheel on a dyno. It looks like this needs a proper driver mod to really ring it out considering C&D hit 0-60 in 4 flat in their manual ct4-v BW review

The Supra's shifting seems in my opinion to be just a small bit quicker than the Cadillacs. Im not saying it was the driver, but watching the drag races, the cadallic would lose incrimental amounts of distance on the Supra during the shifting, and only while shifting. I would enjoy seeing these vehicles drag race again, but next time with different transmissions. I think that is only fair to compare on that level as well because of how close the vehicles are in both horse power, as well as weight. Yes the Supra does have the advantage in curb weight, but I dont think that a few hundred pounds would decide the winner of the drag races. I enjoyed this video none the less, and look forward to seeing more videos like this.

Huh. Interesting. After seeing the results I initially thought that GM must be overrating their HP numbers - but I looked up some dyno sheets on the CT4-V Blackwing and it's pretty consistently putting out more than 400whp.
I suppose it's just not able to really put all its power to the ground, thus getting beat by other cars that put out less power...?

yes at least 300 lbs more than the other two.. but i own the ct4 BW and love it it's the best car out of the bunch to live with day to day and good visibility unlike the supra which you can barely see out of.
Besides weight, at least with the supra, it's been known to have more power than rated for both 2 port 2020 models and even more for the 6 port models on dynos. About 380s whp for 2020 and 400whp for the 6 ports

My top 3 were always the CTS-V, Chevy ss, and Lexus ISF. Never wanted coupes but only 3 coupes really call my name Imani that's the corvette C7 ZR1, Chevy camaro ZL1, and the supra. I hate coupes other than those. Supra out of them all really is my #1 for money to performance and looks. I wish they make a 4 door version in a lexus suit because I gave up on the isf coming back but also the older isf are insanely pricey

The B58s are no joke (Supra engine) and they're under rated from their true hp numbers, they actually make over 380 whp, which is more then the advertised 380 crank hp, and at 500 less lbs it should do what it did from the dig, but the V losing to the Z is just living proof that its the driver, and I don't think the V driver was utilizing the no lift shift, which results in the V losing boost and power in between shifts, it's actually quite visually noticeable from the out side of car camera view, I'd be willing to put good money on the V in every race from a 50-60 mph roll, assuming the driver is using no lift shift or better yet, the 10 speed

Z biggest issue is traction off the line with better tyres Z will be very close to the Supra check hagerty out. The auto Z did 12.3s @ 116mph and the manual Z did 12.8s @ 112mph the auto only Supra at the time did it 12.1s @ 117mph 0.2 tenths and 1 mph difference really separate the autos from each other. As per hagerty the Z with a grippier set of tyres would have kept up with the Supra. And did I forgot to mention that the Japanese spec Z performance weighs less than the US an Canadian spec at 3403lbs. People talk about the Supras auto way faster but reality not so as proven by hagerty they are a lot closer than people think. In fact the Z with same tyres as the Supra should be the same. Now on the track is where the Supra really outshines the Z. Let’s see what the new Z nismo does when it goes on sale. I don’t know why people love to hate on the Z. We people should be thankful they made it.

I agree that the Z is overhated because we need to appreciate new sports cars we get as it's a dying industry. But it's fine to admit the supra is the better, faster car because it is. Ct4 I pick all day it's a luxury sedan the others are 2 door sports cars lighter and meant to race.. Cadillac Impressed me more and it's about the same price and more practical than the others. W Cadillac

The blackwing is barely on the level of an m340i and the b58 is the better platform. The only reason to choose the blackwing is the manual, which frankly is a bmw fail because the powerband of the b58 is much more suited than the s58
The manual in the Blackwing is incredible.
Also keep in mind the CT4 V Blackwing has superior driving dynamics to the M3 as it has better road feel and steering(something BMW has struggled with for a decade now).
If you take the Blackwing down some canyon roads.. you'll have more fun vs an M3.. just the unfortunate truth about it. In many other scenarios the m3 may be a better place to be though

That’s the m3’s job and the fairer comparison which if you compare the gold standard test of track performance the Nurburgring the m3 xDrive is faster and on a drag strip the chicken wing isn’t even in the same zip code. The problem with the Cadillac is not it’s chassis it’s that v6 doesn’t even stack up to the b58 let alone s58 and that’s a fact. Both the b58 and s58 are better engines. So for commuter the m340i is the winner and for the track and strip the m3 comp xDrive is also the winner the Cadillac is for people who want a stick and can’t afford the extra $10k that the m3 comp xDrive cost. But that extra $10k not only buys you more performance it buys you better build quality, technology, and fit/finish.
