Much faster than rolling. I painted marine primer on my fiberglass camper roof yesterday. It's thick, and fries fast. Took me a couple hours just to do the roof.
Rollers are cheap but time consuming for sure.
@@RobTheRebuilderespecially with irregular shape.
Hello, my name is Trisha and I wanted to know if you happen to know how to tell what type of camper of vintage you have. I had just gotten one. I know it needs a lot of work but I’m in the process of trying to move it out of state so I am going to just fix the minor parts for the time being and then re-do everything from getting it out to fixing it up the proper way to do it..
You could post pictures on a FB vintage camper page and someone would probably know what it is.
experts say always go with oil primer for longevity???
Could be. The expert I asked had a different opinion. Maybe both work well.
Rough
It still looks great to this day. Everyone has a budget.
How many gallons for a 5x8 enclosed trailer?
If you're careful, one gallon. Be prepared for two.
Spray technique not great
Your negative comment game is great. Good job.
Crazy Fly?
I said what I said
Been using Zinsser Bull's Eye for years but then I though you can't used latex on a "vehicle" but then I realized i used tinted Zinsser under an 1999 Fleetwood Southwest Storm in the tire compartment area and used Valstar white paint primer on the two metal corners in the rear that were peeling - I removed old paint with angle grinder and a twisted wire wheel. Painted both with a brush. First time I have seen a house style aireless painter but it makes sense and probably does a nice job with the right tip. Beautiful wide fan and looks like very little overspray and of course a very short dry time vs oil-based. Great vintage color choice.
Thanks. It is a great combination. Works well.
That's pretty nice are you going to paint the rims the same mint color?
White rims. They're brand new
Do you have a video of your setup? Hose compressor etc? I feel challenged and I really wanna paint mine
It is a house paint sprayer from Home Depot. All in one set up.
@@RobTheRebuilder thanks
Is that galvanized aluminum on that camper?
Not galvanized
Beautiful job & I love the color!!
It reminds me of Easter.
Rob, what about the special roof paint. Do you recommend it?
I generally use a white roof sealant.
You are a lifesaver!!
Thank you for the kind words.
Where is your mask
Used them all in 2021
Looks great! Love the color.
It turned out better than I expected.
Might want to start wearing a mask even in open air.
Not a bad idea
U sanded it down?
Sure did
what type of paint do you use?
Behr interior/exterior high gloss
what size spray tip are you using in the gun?
Not sure. It came assembled with the sprayer
do you have to sand it down to the metal to repaint? I have the same camper and was getting ready to put a fresh coat on.
If the paint is still good I scuff it up and knock off any loose paint. Don't have to go down to bare metal.
I second that. Never go down to bare metal unless really necessary - paint lifting completely, shot with rust, etc but if going down to metal in spots they will need to be leveled with a filler product to match the height of the existing paint left in place. Clean multiple times to avoid sanding contaminants in to the paint.
Who else saw that bug?!😂
It happens
what paint did you use for the top coats?
I just filmed that episode. Stay tuned.
Rob, I saw your primer brand but missed what top coat paint you’re using, thanks
Behr at Home Depot
Thanks, have you ever used Rustoleum brand? Seems it’s designed for metal and outdoor use, thanks
@@RobTheRebuilder How is it holding up? Any specific Behr product?
@@wcstrawberryfields8011 I always ask for recommendations from the counter guy. No problems so far. Seems to be working great. Its all in the prep.
@@RobTheRebuilder Thanks
Very good job
I appreciate that.
Really appreciate your videos. Have helped alot. I saw the 123 primer you use.
What brand of paint would you reccomend for body color exterior?
Interior?
I prefer to go with hi gloss.
Thanks in advance!
I use Behr exterior gloss. Thanks for watching
Any brand that is around $40+ gallon will have a high level of vinyl and that makes for a durable finish that will last if applied over a good clean prep job.
