The Act Man watching your brilliant video fills me with both happiness and great sadness. it makes me remember the great times and makes me FUCKING HATE 343 FOR RUINING MY FAVORITE SERIES
343i might not make the halo we expect but they still make better then any other company would do. if anything 343 was the best company to take over halo they even agree on some mistakes they made which is very rare these days
Oi, the fuck you said bob beetus about master chief. He is literally the face of gaming. He is a badass soldier who saves the universe so many times. Why don't you just go back to halo 5 and idolise locke.
I recently finished playing CE with a friend of mine that had never played a Halo game before. He was incredibly impressed by the simple fact that grunts ran away when stuck with plas grenades, but elites ran towards you. Simple things like that is what makes CE incredible. It's crazy that this game came out 19 years ago.
Just played this year too and liked it a lot it is actually my favorite shooter when i tried halo 2 i was desappointed... The gameplay did not feel the same i will try it later bcause this year was the first time actually played skyrim and i am in love with the game as much as i was with halo combat evolved and i replayed combat evolved a ton of times... And skyrim is even bigger so... When i finish i will give halo 2 another try cause the story seems to be better, it was just the gameplay that wasnt as good
The characters in the game written incredibly well, they even get you to care about a pelican pilot with no backstory or character model. RIP Echo 419, Foe Hammer.
I loved how the flood actually weren’t just dumb zombies. Yeah, their ai was rather simplistic, mainly just swarm ai but more complex, but I think their spawn areas are what makes them feel intelligent. They constantly surround you in the Library, and in the mission Keyes they drop from openings in the ceiling. It’s great.
yeah in the library my friend moved on as i was itching my nose or whatever and 7 carriers litterally spawned on me :/ not sure i can agree that the spawns are great. also fuck library in particular. its such an arduous task getting through on legendary.
My computer class teacher left this on the computers for us to find and he let us play that shit for hours if he liked our test scores. That guy made all of us interested in that class and we all passed with As just because he let us play CE with each other
Back in the days the high school computer class teacher let us play Diablo 2 al the time. We also played this F2P browser FPS that I cant remember the name. It was similar to halo. It was back in 2007 I think.
So many don’t understand that CE redefined everything about the FPS. It was mind blowing to see it for the first time. You knew that it was going to create a genre all to itself.
I didn't but I did believe that certain individuals will love the franchise and that's all that mattered to me. I had no idea it would have been this big lol.
As someone who had been playing FPS games in PC before Halo... it was a step back, less weapons, less mobility, slower combat, very few enemy types, no bosses...
I first played Halo: CE when I got my Xbox One X in March 2019. During my first playthrough I felt an odd sense of nostalgia (odd because I had never played it before), mostly because it reminded me of other games that I played as a kid (mainly Star Wars Jedi Knights II: Jedi Outcast). As I got further and further through the campaign, right up until the moment I finished it, I asked myself along the way "If this game had just came out this year, would it still be as fun, influential and popular as it was when it was first released?", and I found myself answering that hypothetical with a solid "Yes" every time. It was at that moment that I fully understood the impact Halo has had on the gaming community. I was even more impressed when I learned about Halo's development story, and how quickly the game was put together despite being such an instant classic. It's like the universe aligned perfectly to give us this once in a million years experience, with characters, dialogue, story, sound effects, environments, and music that make such an immediately positive impression and become firmly engrained in our memories, to the point where we can hardly fathom of a time before we were so familiar with the Halo universe.
@@gub4941 maybe too young at the time lol I was young for halo ce. I grew up playing halo2/3 only touched halo ce a few years ago. Because it was just such an old game.
The funniest line of dialogue I've ever heard came from Halo CE and I've only heard it once. It happened when my brother stuck a grunt in the face and it said: "Not again!" We had to pause the game cause we were laughing so hard.
funniest bit of dialogue i came across was halo 3. I randomly heard a brute yell "WE DONT TAKE AMERICAN EXPRESS".......then i spent entirely too long trying to get them to say it again
Just finished my first playthough and my god the rocket launcher flood enemies got me so many times. Got to say tho it still holds up today I’m impressed
@@gio4931 Are you braindead? It's the same fuckin game with better graphics and physics. Halo as a whole is garbage anyways but the remaster is still better.
“What we will let em have is a belly full of lead and a pool of their own blood to drown in, Am I right marines, sir yes sir mhmm Damn right I am now move it out double time.” “All you greenhorns who wanted to see covenant up close this is gonna be your lucky day”
@@VTdarkangel When I was a child playing Halo 2 on coop with my younger brother on Delta Halo... My mom was in the kitchen making supper and she said something to us and right after, Johnson said his line, "I heard that. Jackass!" and she came in living room laughing
@@tannerjordan3754 I own a pc and a ps4 pro. Halo CE was one of my first games to play, then moved to Halo 2. I understand that i lost some good games going to ps4 team, but, in my opinion, halo 5 was bad, like actually bad, uncomparable to the original one.
"In 2002, Halo was the first real First Person Shooter game I've ever played, and when I stepped out of that lifepod onto that gigantic ring my world change forever and so did the gaming industry" FUCKING LEGENDARY.
On my first playthrough I got REALLY lost on the silent cartographer level, so I got frustrated and started friendly firing every single marine I could find
I remember once I was playing Halo 2, right after it came out, with my dad. We did a second playthrough on Legendary splitscreen and remembered how hard Tartarus could be, so we improvised and slowly/carefully shot the wings off a Banshee and were able to squeeze it into the arena with Tartarus. I can't remember if the game de-spawned it after the cutscene, but I do remember how fucking slick we thought we were for doing that. That is the type of shit that makes Halo so damn unique to me.
You made it to the last mission and thought it was hard? lol.. Well, depends on how quick reflexes and eye sight is I guess. Outskirts and Metropolis was always the levels I had the most issues with because of the near endless Jakal Snipers and repeated checkpoint fails as they kill you. The entire campaign told me unless you have a sword fighting the flood, stay as far away as possible. So always stuck near Johnson and emptied my clips on him from up there before jumping down to grab Brute Plasma Rifles to finish him. Heard many say if you're good at hit and run that the Sword is best(not counting getting in a vehicle that is) But i could never last long with that, but rarely if ever failed killing him by staying the hell away from him lol
@@johnnywhitsel1583 yeah, that's what I meant lol. Most of the people I know considered Tartarus a let down on legendary after all the "fun" you had working through the campaign because he was not that different from the other difficulties besides that he could 1 hit ya. Only why i mentioned it. Just seemed weird when everyone I knew had the same thoughts on that fight that it was the easiest part of legendary xD
@@Selet101 Well, maybe I am remembering it wrong and we just did it for fun or maybe I just sucked back then lol. I haven't played Halo 2 since about a year after it came out as shortly after I moved to PC and didn't get the windows version of Halo 2, so it was quite a while back. BUUUT... I am getting the MCC on steam, so I guess i'll have to try it again here soon!
@@johnnywhitsel1583 Probably for fun more than anything. Me and my friends replayed the last level all the time to figure out new ways to beat it lol You wouldn't have been able to get Halo 2 for PC if you looked before anyways. Halo 1 was the only one to ever be released on PC before steam released MCC. I would recommend buying MCC soon, as the only game currently released is Halo: Reach. don't know if they will raise the price of it with more games released later on or not, so may be cheaper to grab the MCC on steam now than to wait on the other games to be released first.
No, pistol the rocket flood. & it doesn't change the fact that you are changing your strategy compared to the combat that came before it so I'm not really sure what you're questioning here... Year old comment or not.
I prefer my tried and tested method. It's absolutely fool proof. And only for the most skilled veteran. The Library Mission loads. Step one. Aim at nearest shotgun holding flood form. Step two. Switch pistol for shotgun. Step Three. Switch back to the assault rifle and squeeze the trigger and scream until the level is over.
Right man? Blew my fucking mind. Utterly shattered it.. I was like 6 and although my exact feelings have faded I still get these nostalgic tugs of how it felt, like a sudden memory of a dream, usually the feeling is triggered when looking at the covenant in PoA that are shooting at u from the dark behind the closing blast doors (when u have no weapon), and from the needler. Examining these aspects of the game always shoot me back to that feeling I had when I witnessed them. Sure the rest of the game of course, but I’m so much older now that it’s all faded, except for those 2 things…it’s like I relive it, my 6yo brain witnessing for the first time strange and scary alien creatures trying to kill me, and that mind bendingly bizarre weapon that defied everything I knew. Sorry for the rant but this game legit makes me tear up, it’s had such a profound impact on how I grew. I cannot wait to play this with my kids, while they’re young, as young as I was, before they get a taste of the jam packed stuff of today…I want them to feel as I felt. I can’t wait….
I remember going to school and just thinking about Halo all day. Thinking about the mission me and my friend just beat and how awesome campaign was. This game stood out from any other game back in the day
The original Halo trilogy has better AI than many modern games that even work well and are fun to play. Saying it's better than Cyberpunk isn't saying much lol
The most revolutionary thing about Halo was that it wasn't another "find the exit" shooter. It was a sandbox. You really could tackle the objectives on different orders in many missions. Like in mission 2, it wasn't a straight line when you had to go find the surviving marines. You could go to each little group of marines in whichever order you wanted. Same with the silent cartographer (the beach level). It wasn't just a straight line. You could go around the island in different directions.
Moment flood are revealed, My preferred weapons became assault rifle, shotgun. One of the greatest games I’ve ever played. Even the graphics are fun. Almost nostalgic even though the game is older than me. We don’t deserve it. Hope infinite is at least half the game this was
Halo. Half-Life. Quake. Doom. Unreal Tournament. True legendary games, that still kick the asses of any new games releasing today unfinished, or selling off content for cash.
I recall so much anger, frustration, and fun from playing CE on legendary difficulty alone. But, after several attempts, finishing a level and getting to a cut scene was always such a bittersweet, satisfying feeling.
Your description of the Library is perfect. When I was young, I always found it to be so difficult but most importantly scary as shit at times. The Library is so large and open, yet so claustrophobic. Your one man, even though your a spartan, you can't help but feel like your at your most vulnerable during this level. Your armor isn't enough to convince you, because the Flood is a large horde waiting for you in every dark corner or hole.
Giovanni Fiordaliso I also love Sparks remark about halfway thru when the sentinels first show up, where Spark recommends that the Master Chief should upgrade his "model" from a class 2 to a class 12 in order to deal with the flood, and that the weapons you bring with you are super ineffective against the flood. Giving you some sense of context and scale and also accomplishment when you clear a room of the flood with your severely ineffective human Spartan hands!
Nah. The Library isn't that hard really. You might die a few times but there's no parts that are hard af that take 5 lives to get past or anything. If you want some hard levels, then play Halo 2 on Legendary.
Legendary game. I've spent north of 1000 hours on this game on PC and Xbox. Bought it with the Xbox system for my 8th birthday in 2003. 2 years later I finally played the 3rd level. I was too scared of the dark to play it LMAO!
Two betrayals is absolutely the BEST level. I love that you played assault on the control room not too long ago and it was pristine and beautiful with sleeping grunts everywhere…then you come back and everything has gone to hell! It’s so cinematic
Considering the campaign is probably the most fun maybe second to halo 3 who wouldnt. Reach and 2 become a grind sometimes if you dont have the proper weapons but you can make do with just about anything the 3 and ce.
I didn't grow up playing Halo, but I started playing the MCC to get ready for Infinite. Let me say that playing Halo 1's campaign was the most enriching and frustrating experiences I've had in gaming.
I just played Legendary, never in a lower difficulty, and i can say the hardest part of the whole trilogy was the first halo tower, where you find the marines, i practically spended my whole day in that section, but after that i never find another frustrating part, i guess i learned practically everything after dying so many times.
Yeah, I just finished Halo 1 and man it was amazing but so janky as well (backtracking sucks but at the same time it shows how far you've gone). However some things also feel so modern and probably revolutionary at the time. It just feels snappy and similar to the future FPS that would be released
18:51 I saw this amazing meme once. It showed Chief and the text said: I can survive hundreds of plasma shots, grenades, falling from the sky. I've defeated countless enemies countless times, and I know how to use any tech I pick up perfectly. ... But surviving in water for more than 3 seconds? Yeah, that's way out of my skill sets.
ODST doesnt repeat any levels or sections really unless you choose to backtrack....it is a story set in a different part of the same city over time, where you investigate what happen to your friends who also landed on the planet and as you get to each section of the city, you find a new clue and do a flashback to earlier in the day, which teaches you what happened and an idea of where to go, then you continue on back in the city at the present time through the similar but not the same area
@@Shadow0fd3ath24 and just about the entire city looks the same. Fun game but that’s the point he’s making every level in the city is just about the same as the last.
i didn't really like odst because it took so long to get from place to place in the city and they didn't give you any vehicles so the process could go faster
@@memes4life118 Well that's the point of ODST. You aren't a Spartan so you have to survive and carefully make your way around the city while piecing together clues as to where your teammates are.
@@memes4life118 so long to get around?? What? It takes like 3 to 5 minutes to travel across the map unless you are blind, then use the in game map. It isn’t a legitimate complaint.
Halo: CE will forever be one of my fondest childhood memories. Specifically, that ending Warthog run! I first played the campaign when I was in my single digits and my dad basically carried my dumb, baby brain through the missions. Yet right at the end, we were screaming our heads off to get out because he'd let me drive, for some Ring forsaken reason, and the timer just passed the thirty second mark when we reached the corridor of barrels and bullshit. The urgency in Cortana's voice and the epic orchestra that only added onto the pressure. The ramp to our escape vehicle was within sight, but the crossfire between the Flood and Elites was tearing us apart. Our shields went out almost instantly and my brave papa father was shot down by those alien bastards right in front of me! I distinctly remember him shouting, "Go on without me! Tell my story!" Though I limped to the Longsword with a single chunk of health, boy, would I be telling this story for a long time to come. Because Halo: CE will always be my favorite in the series and one of the best FPSs I've ever been lucky enough to play. Future Halo titles would, naturally, evolve the formula and improve (or degrade) the mechanics that make it unique and fun, but the fondness I have for this OG killer is one and only.
Here is a good story for you then. I always played it with my older brother but what I always remember is one time he activated an elevator before I could get on I jumped down died. Respawned and we fought a while before continuing on with the mission leaving a pile of dead master chief on the elevator. I also really remember being very excited when he told me there was a halo 2 coming. When I got my own xbox halo 2 was the first game I owned myself
I actually quite liked the flood. The scene where they are first revealed you fight off wave after wave, as they crawl on the ceiling and floor, was really really cool!
I love that entire sequence. You've just punched through a small army of Covenent to stop them from securing the Control Room, thereby stopping them from eradicating humanity with the push of a button. You're gunning for another fight and ready to hold the area against hell itself. Instead of that, you get sent to save the Captain from a trap without your constant companion. You arrive and can't see far because of fog. The enemy that has brought him to the brink of extinction is absolutely terrified. And not of you. As you progress you find nothing but panicked Covenant, a single insane Marine and corridor after corridor of silent blood covered walls, ceilings and floors with nothing for all that gore to come from. Then you open one last door and a dead Marine falls into your arms and the hell you thought you were prepared for arrived. You were not prepared.
I was like "aight this guys making decent points" and then you showed the bullshit part of the rocket flood guy from the Library and I was like "FUCKING FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT". Fuck that flood. Good vid though!
I actually like the repeated missions and the feeling of dread they give you. To think not too long ago, in this same burning lifeless room sprinkled with blood, you were tossing grenades to clear out several enemies constantly swarming you that you start to miss fighting rather than the gruesome, scary flood. When you finally make it into a more open area, its either empty or you can see small patches of the covenant get overrun and the whole story gets turned to it's head. No unsc, no consistent enemy, and a creepy ass soundtrack. Fighting the flood was much nastier, and you always felt hopeless making you want to fight the covenant again settling the good ol' rivalry in massy populated canyons and ships like everything felt like it had meaning, and I feel you got an Easter egg of this thought in Keyes where you spawn in the ship but everything's upside down and you plop down to the ground. With just a simple change in view, the perception is wayyy different. Keyes and 2 betrayals usually felt like what it would feel like to walk around a chuck cheese or another entertainment center after it closes (the maw gets that feeling worst) if you get my drift.
Wurmo damn right I also have nostalgia because it was my first FPS and I was 5 when I played with the music and cutscene and the scary flood damn all those emotions in that game.
Two betrayals was hands down my favorite CE level. I thought it was fun doing an old level backwards at night. I love it. I also just love the level though, 5 was class.
I remember my dad seeing me and my buddies play combat evolved split screen in 2017,and he questioned why we were even playing it when we had halo 4,and we told him, because its a relic of our culture that we know and love, and no matter what,it will always be good to us.
This game changed so many people’s lives, including mine. Ever since I’ve first played it with my friends, we’ve been hosting LAN parties on our school’s computers to enjoy the same sense of community halo brought to the world and created a new generation of gamers.
It makes me cringe into the 5th dimension whenever I see people call this game a "simple generic cover shooter" They have absolutely no idea what makes this game great
I was 18 when Combat Evolved came out. I’ll never forget playing through it - I was so amazed with it as a whole, the story, the gameplay, the experience Bungie had created was so impressive to me as I watched the credits role on the first ever completion I cried a few tears. I don’t share that with everyone but I feel like if I can’t share that here, where can I? :-) Bungie had me at Halo.
@@RuinerNet Is that what people do? Just play halo 1? And like I said Im envious, cuz even for its time I think red faction was better, released few months before halo 1 Just my opinion tho.
@@KabegamiTheGreat lots of good stuff was out around then, I was sucked into MechAssault which was made by the people who are making world of tanks now, but this was 2001, today I’m stuck on Destiny which is also made by Bungie :-)

Fantastic review! I already considered "Halo: Combat Evolved" a masterpiece (not to mention it's one of my favorite games ever), but many of the points that you elaborated on have made me appreciate it even more. Keep up the good work. I only just discovered your channel, and have subscribed.
The final leg of the Warthog run is still one of my top 10 gaming moments. The stakes, gameplay, environment, and the *chef kiss* perfect music all mesh so well.
"Gamers, we led those other games into the review section to keep 'em from getting their filthy claws on our number 1 score! But, we've stumbled onto so many cheap methods that they're so hot for, that they're scramblin' over each other to get them! Well, I don't care if its buying the game early for free additions, or using dirty loot-boxes, We're not gonna let 'em take our number 1 spot! What we will let 'em have, is a belly full of regret, and a pool of their own expenses to drown in! AM I RIGHT, GAMERS?!" "SIR YES SIR!" "MHM, DAMN RIGHT I AM, NOW GO BUY SOME ACTUAL GOOD GAMES, DOUBLE TIME!"
@@BabyN7 I played the game and it was a boring mess, with repetitive gameplay and copy and pasted levels without any variation, it was bad even for its time. I know it's important, but we need to be more objective, without being attacked by the nostalgia. I'm glad that actually halo 2 and 3 were far better and good games. (I'm talking about the story not the multy player)
I just did my very first playthrough of this game with a friend who’s an absolute veteran, we did it on Legendary and it was fucking awesome. So many deaths, but such a perfect challenge.
I finally got to experience this master piece for the first time 2 months ago. Since then, I have played through two times already, and am starting a Legendary play though most recently. I can’t believe 20 years later, I choose this game over any other modern shooter. Well played Bungie, and thank you Act Man 👍🏻👊🏻
The overall effect was jaw dropping experience, campaign and all the difficulty levels, ai, co-op, multiplayer modes, neat packet overall. Yeah and the levels were massive, almost relic feeling into them. Really polished game.
Man, Halo CE does so many things right. Each level looks different and plays different. How the story is told, the music. It's so freaking memorable and well done. What I also love in Two Betrayals, is the contrast with Assault on the Control Room. In AotCR, you had managed to bring together a human resistance and try to push against the Covenant. You had team Zulu on your side, there were large vehicle battles against the Covenant, it was thrilling. But in TB, you come back and it's chaos. The human resistance is all but gone, the Flood is everywhere. You are completely alone. It's literally day and night. It's basically the same level backwards, but that only helps make the contrast stronger. As for The Library, I think it's an awesome level, for reasons you mentioned. I think the repetitiveness of the level is part of the charm. It's really a horror shooter mission. The repetitiveness level design makes you wonder when it is ever going to end. Flood everywhere, in all directions, and it feels like you are not making progress. I think it adds to the horror aspect of the mission. And I love how it totally changes the gameplay. There's no level that plays like this one. It's challenging even on lower difficulties, and fun.
Great analysis. Halo: Combat Evolved is absolutely a masterpiece. This game wasn't just the flagship game of the original Xbox console that spawned an entire series, it was a trend starter. All FPS from 2001 to present day, owe something to Halo CE. Something I can't stand is the entire generation of younger gamers who criticize Halo for not "aiming down the sights", etc. I was 4, close to 5 when this game was released. I've been playing it ever since. Almost 16 years later, this game still holds up. Shout out to all the seasoned Halo players! Let's hope Halo 6 takes some inspiration from this game. Sometimes, less is better. The Mark V suit is hands down my favorite armor. Ever since Halo 3, I've always worked towards unlocking the Mk. V helmet and/or armor for multiplayer. Anyway, Halo CE is my favorite first person shooter of all time. It was innovative and overall a great game. Thank you for doing this video.
Halo CE is my favorite game. And I did play this game too when I was about 4/5. And yes the MK V armor is my favorite armor in the Halo series. I grinded hard to get it in Reach. And I successfully got the helmet. But I didn't bother to get it in 4 and 5. I hate those games.
It doesn't make it bad naturally but you can't blame people for feeling it's dated or not quite as fun for not having that extra fun little layer of iron-sights. It's kind of along the lines of having full control of your aim in a console shooter. It wasn't there in Golden Eye or Perfect Dark and while it wasn't necessary to the game, going back to those does feel a bit weird and yes, even dated (and even more yes, even to those that grew up with them) for lacking that extra layer of control/immersion.
+PhyreI3ird I disagree, not having the ability of the ADS felt more immersive to me, if anything ADS has actually ruined halo more than helped it. Example being Halo 5 and how all automatic weapons have become too accurate and are useful at all ranges. Also, Halo CE in my honest opinion doesn't feel dated in terms of mechanics and controls. The only thing dated about Halo CE is its graphics. It was truly a game ahead of its time.
@@theowl2134 Ah I see, Halo Wars two was very good. I am actually very worried for Infinite; I hope that both my gut and head are wrong about this one though.
Thank you, Act Man, for this wonderful trip down memory lane. Brought me right back to Christmas morning the year Xbox came out and I had an Xbox under the tree with just one game: Halo. And man was that the best Christmas gift, ever.
I’m gonna be honest with y’all. I’ve beaten Halo CE Legendary and can say confidently that The Library wasn’t actually that hard. While it was long and repetitive, killing the flood usually wasn’t a huge problem. All you needed was a shotgun and maybe a pistol. (That’s what I beat it with) The flood have strength in their numbers and if you get to close, that’s when they’ll kill you. In fact, I actually liked The Library as it reminded me of playing Cod Zombies. It was super fun mowing down flood with the Shotgun. But yea, Basically, keep your distance from the flood and take them all out one by one with the shotgun.
You're completely right. It isn't hard, but it's an endurance challenge. You inevitably make mistakes, and the more mistakes on one level the more frustrating it becomes, seemingly resetting on a new level. Since you will undoubtedly make more mistakes on one level, you'll consider that level to be hard, even though really its no harder than the rest of the game
you didn't even go over how amazing and unique the art style is? Reflective textures and volumetric lighting is something modern games can't even do right. Combat evolved holds up to this day as one of the best looking games ever made, just look at the truth and reconciliation!!!!
Paused at 14:36 to say that i got doom 2016 recently and realized i was playing it like halo anticipating and predicting future engagements but them shrugged and got out my chainsaw i also watched your why is doom 2016 so awesome video act man I LOVE the sog in the intro keep up the LEGENDARY content legend
Just wanted to leave you something here - I'd never seen any of your videos before watching this one yesterday. This is incredibly well done. I have so many nostalgic moments and this game holds such a special place in my heart. You were able to capture that in much of your commentary here. I will be a fan of the franchise for as long as it is around thanks to this title. I am now subbed and look forward to checking out your other content. Keep up the good work!
I love Halo's "repetitiveness" of revisiting locations to see how they've changed or in different lighting it prevents globetrotting and it's a good way to use resources more efficiently which is why the forerunner design is genius, hell all of the design is so classic because it's function over form.
Thank you for putting into words all the emotions I have about halo CE. I still remember the first time I played through 343 guilty spark like it happened yesterday that’s how gripping an experience that level was and I was in 5th grade at the time. 20 years later I’ve played all the games and read almost all the books. CE was a masterpiece in so many ways and I’m glad its still getting that recognition to this day. Thank you for making this video and bringing back so many good memories of playIng through the campaign. Might go dust off the original CE disc for a play through sometime soon

Yeah, that was like the most HD grass I had ever seen

It's really set up like a zombie nightmare.
I don't get it, but it's actually my favorite level, just because ov how many enemies and that beautiful constant use ov shotgun and rocket launcher
Nah. The Library isn't that hard really. You might die a few times but there's no parts that are hard af that take 5 lives to get past or anything. If you want some hard levels, then play Halo 2 on Legendary.

Same from CE TO ODST

The people who complain about Halo CE levels being repeated must have had an aneurysm when playing ODST

"Gods own anti-son of a bitch machine" is still one of the best lines of dialogue in gaming ever.
Tell my story!"
Though I limped to the Longsword with a single chunk of health, boy, would I be telling this story for a long time to come.

Same, I love the concept and the way they fight

I was 18 when Combat Evolved came out. It is a masterpiece. It was a complete game changer. I went from playing Goldeneye on N64 to Halo. It was mind blowing at the time.
Now it's 19 years old... man it's almost able to drink and smoke it's so old

+PhyreI3ird
I disagree, not having the ability of the ADS felt more immersive to me, if anything ADS has actually ruined halo more than helped it.
I'm 32, was a teen when Halo dropped. Loved it and still do, but then and still now I hate that I can't aim down the sights lol.

From memory Two betrayals was the hardest level for me personally on legendary.
Yeah dude wtf I didn’t even notice rocket flood half the time. I think people hype it up too much so I was always overly cautious
@@mmcv9679 two betrayals the worst mission in this game same with keyes
You're completely right. It isn't hard, but it's an endurance challenge. You inevitably make mistakes, and the more mistakes on one level the more frustrating it becomes, seemingly resetting on a new level. Since you will undoubtedly make more mistakes on one level, you'll consider that level to be hard, even though really its no harder than the rest of the game
This video made me get out of bed just to play Halo 1.

you didn't even go over how amazing and unique the art style is? Reflective textures and volumetric lighting is something modern games can't even do right. Combat evolved holds up to this day as one of the best looking games ever made, just look at the truth and reconciliation!!!!
