Veli Karppinen true true but the thing I was pointing out to is it wasn’t linear, you had freedom in that level and you had to search for the people and sander Cohen wasn’t on you the whole time if that makes sense, he just said kill the 3 ppl he didn’t specify how or in what order of if you could kill all 3 then paste them at the same time.

I remember, I was 10 years old when I was woken up in the middle of the night by my dad, wake up I got a surprise for you. I dragged myself out of bed. My dad pointed me to the computer, I asked what it was and my dad pointed to the new .exe on the desktop "Bioshock?" I started it up and my dad told me how he heard about the game from one of his co workers, we sat there and complained/made fun of the loading time but when the game started up, instead of just leaving me to the game my dad grabbed a chair, sat down and watched me play the moment the plane went down, he watched me play up until the first big daddy encounter before going to bed and when he woke up I was still playing.
I first saw the JT music videos on them, then I really wanted to get it. So I searched and searched EB Games(basically gamestop, I think, never been there) until I found the collection for PS4, and HOO BOI, it was worth it! On my 8th playthrough, but I eventually stopped. Haven't played it for 6 or so months. I may play again.
@@vergilonachair4487 We love it, but we're stuck in Neptune's Bounty. We went to find the spider splicers to take the pictures of them, but 1 didn't spawn or something. We walked there for like 2 hours before we gave up and we haven't touched it for about a year.
The twist of Bioshock also struck me strongly for its timing: for me it came just at the moment when I began to ask myself "but why am I doing this? It's true Ryan hurt Fontaine but I don't have anything to do with this matter, why I'm not trying to escape?" and then BOOM the would you kindly room... What a game
Tried it, setting + ambiance are 10/10 but controls and feel (ps3) are shit tier and makes no sense even when considering its age. By that I mean heavy and clunky along with a controler layout that is idiotic (to put it mildly). Too bad couldn't bring myself to finish it
What was so insanely brilliant about the "would you kindly" twist is that it uses the video game platform perfectly to tell the story. We ARE the character fully. He knows as much about his past as we do and because it's a video game, we do every thing our quest giver kindly asks us to do. In fact we have no choice but to obey. If we don't obey, the game does not move on, therefore we must. Just such a brilliant way to show what video games are capable of when it comes to story telling.

Another nice detail is the tattoos on Jack's wrist. 2 chains, one on each wrist. Jack was never in control, he was always a slave, chained to Fontaine's orders. Goddamn, I love this game.
Cryo Judgement well as Jack really doesn't have anything to do with the great chain (plus he's a slave) it seems more likely to be standing for that he is chained to someone of higher power
Honestly it's why I stopped playing the demo and didnt pick the game up until I got around to playing Bioshock 2, and after completing 2 and the bundle came out played 1.
Back then I was like this game looks cool!!! Downloaded the demo and saw him get disemboweled and then hit the xbox home button, Y for dashboard, then didnt play until a couple years later.
Frrrr at first I thought to me myself "Oh God this is a horror game isn't it" and started cautiously tiptoeing around Rapture A couple dozen hours in and I was blasting Splicers with heat seeking RPGs left and right without flinching lol
Played BioShock 1 last year for the first time and immediately was like why the hell did it take me so long to play this masterpiece of a game. Loved it so much I even bought the prequel BioShock audiobook just for more lore.

I got a nintendo switch for Christmas and got the whole trilogy, just started the second one, I love the 1910s vibe it has and as a person who loves the mafia aesthetic the Tommy gun is a pleasant inclusion
whowantsacheezburger I’m gonna give an extremely hot take and say that hl2 is just an okay game. It has good pacing and a few great areas but the enemy variety is boring (besides the zombies in ravenhold) and the weapon balance is kinda garbage (the shotgun and smg are clearly the best weapons while the fun weapons are garbage). The story is also only okay and has only 2 good characters, those being alyx and the g-man. That’s just my opinion though, feel free to call me objectively wrong as much as you like

Fun fact: If you pay attention to Ryan's dialogue, you can see the moment where he realized that Jack was his son, the shock in his voice is subtle, but you can sense it.
from what I played, remastered had small graphical improvements but more importantly dlc and really cool dev commentary and you got it free if you owned bioshock already

It’s such an incredible twist, and it honestly only could’ve been pulled off in an interactive medium like a video game because the themes of the game apply to the players themselves, not just the main protagonist. This makes Bioshock one of the most revolution games of all time in my opinion
For some damn reason I guessed in the beginning "hey what if this guy that's trying to help me is actually the bad guy" and it ruined the twist for me almost entirely.

The ending in Bioshock 1 is just so well done; throughout the game, you only have ONE choice: save the little sisters or don't. That single choice determines what kind of man Jack becomes, anything else in the game is "scripted" because he (you) is nothing but a slave and it ultimately determines what ending you get. "A man chooses, a slave obeys"
Mf turns evil after harvesting two sisters that shit is done super poorly but the endings themselves are good but the events leading up to which one you get are not
Its such a binary choice, I hated the ending. Shoot everyone you meet, except small monsters, but kill the big monsters next to them in the metal suits who are entirely nonhostile, and you're a saint. It doesn't add up.
@@Pangora2 I felt it was right to save the sisters since I never trusted the guide, and also it was the only choice I had, and I wanted to make sure that I did not kill anyone if i could. I got the good ending and I was happy with it but I did youtube the other ending, curiosity killed me.

The most OP weapon in the game is a plasmid. And that plasmid is, Target Dummy. Makes the game sooooo easy even on Survivor! Big Daddy? No problem, hack a turret, stand next to it, shoot the big daddy and then keep putting out target dummys and the turret goes to work. Easy.
I played the whole game with winter blast, freezing everything and then melee wrench with bonus damage equipped. Telekenisis is crazy too, definitely you can abuse mechanics in this game.
I didn't end up playing Bioshock until late 2020, but I was blown away by how good it was. Between the story/lore, voice acting, and especially Rapture being my favorite setting in any video game I've ever played, it's one of my top 5 favorite games ever!
I don’t think Bioshock 2 gets enough credit. It wasn’t a necessary sequel, and it could never match the initial wonder and mystery the original had, but it was still great. Also greatly improved the core gameplay.
Big Daddies and little sisters are practically the heart and soul of Rapture, Bioshock 2 is like my favourite game of all time possibly, i loved the addition of the Alpha Series and i think Delta was a better silent protagonist due to never seeing his face and letting his actions speak for him Bioshock 2 was also smart in story telling as going the exact opposite of what the first story was, Jack was a free man who found out he was actually a slave, while Delta was a slave who found his freedom and yeah the main story isn't as good as the first game's BUT its DLC is though haha, if Minerva's Den was the main story of Bioshock 2, people would praise it as an amazing sequel
Bioshock 2 is the best one with gameplay and the story of main game and DLC is good plus the MP is suprisingly good. Then again, the MP was made by the same people behind gems like Wolfenstien and Quake Enemy Territory as well as Dirty Bomb.
The interesting thing is that even though Andrew Ryan claims to be a free market capitalist, he regularly contradicts his own ideals, ultimately becoming an authoritarian.
It's a paradox of tollerance. If you allow for everything to happen, then you also allow for that world to be corrupted. In the end, Ryan was also a free man in Rapture. A free man with the most power. Even without Atlas it should end like that.

Who will enforce it? The state of course and here is the funny part: The ONLY reason the state enforces the law is because he has the monopoly of force. The reasons why it is this way is another discussion but yes, markets exists and they would naturally be responsible for protecting the property rights if not for the state intervention in this area.
In a perfect world bioshock 2 would be widely considered as good or maybe even better than the first one but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world
Ive come back to play this game at least once a year since it released, and still. The attention to detail never fails to impress me. It really makes the replay value of the game go up 100x. I know the story of the game like the back of my hand, but the game itself is so complex, and immersive, it still feels different every time

The only reason they consider it okay is because people still pre order and overhyped games or allow them to pass as "oh they'll fix it eventually" We shouldnt put up with this.
With regards to cyberpunk i think they had little to no choice to release when they did. Between cancerous fans sending death threats to devs for delaying the game before, and shareholders pushing it out for their Christmas cash, and if it took another couple months (which would have been needed to iron out bugs and make it playable on last gen consoles) the hype would have died. I still like the game and think in a couple years when next gen versions are out, bugs gone, content added (that shouldn't have been cut in the first place) i think we'll look back on it in admiration as the great RPG i know it can be. Too bad the release version was sub-par.
When I first played I harvested all the little sisters. On my second one I went in equally blind and saved them all. And the ending literally brought tears to my eyes. And not many game stories can do that. It was so beautiful and sad
I had a damn morality battle going on in my head, Harvest and become more powerful, rescue and be less powerful but also not evil..... Brilliant game design.

Disagree, give every child a copy when they're old enough to appreciate it, I played the bioshock games when I was a little kid and it left me wishing I could re-experience them for the first time as an adult and fully enjoy it for the first time again
The online multiplayer for Bioshock 2 was incredible, and tied directly into the overall story. The end of multiplayer goes straight into the beginning of Bioshock 1. Also the book Rapture is an awesome addition that makes the games even better to replay after reading it.
@J.C. Denton For me, the idea of playing a big daddy was awesome. But, in bioshock 2, you didn't feel like a big daddy.. The art direction was also a bit to drastic for my taste, and, well, the story was disappointing.
I had an odd experience with Bioshock. When I first started playing it, I really didn't like it, but for some reason I kept coming back to it hoping something would click, and I would get why so many people loved it. It finally did, and now, 10 plus playthroughs later, it's one of my absolute favorite games of all time. I really hope this game is remade some day.
My introduction to Bioshock many moons ago ended when I was to battle my first big daddy of the game. It felt like such an insurmountable task compared to the weapons I possessed at the time. Pretty weak reason honestly, but I redeemed myself by starting Bioshock again recently and finishing it too!
First time I played bioshock I was a bit scared and the game was scary for quite a while without giving you anything to fight back. Today it has become one of my favorite games and I am not a person scared easily, but I just hate it when games try too much to be scary that it turns out like a walking simulator. In the beginning you feel like that and it puts people off. That being said, there are some horror scenes in the game but it will never be as bad as the very beginning when you are left at the mercy of the unknown.

Fast forward to about 3-4 years ago I decided to finally give it another go and damn yeah I see the hype. It only took like 13 years for me to finally experience it 🤷🏼

There were two moments in BioShock that always stuck with me. When you meet the doctor and he freaks out after seeing you, and Andrew Ryan when you finally confront him. The voice acting was fantastic and gave me goosebumps. Still one of my all time favorite games
I still get the urge to chuckle every time I hear the "Circus of Values" vending machine, knowing that's Ken Levine's voice. If I recall correctly, he says in one of the behind-the-scenes videos for Bioshock's remastered collection that he used to do that voice for his wife occasionally after the game came out. And she HATED it every time, which he found hilarious.
I like how the phrase "Would you kindly" is literally everywhere when bioshock is referenced, yet people keep the twist hidden. People new to the franchise see this all the time, but they never saw the twist coming.
Honestly "Would you kindly" is an amazing phrase to use too, the subtlety of coming across as merely polite on first glance, but when you see the twist and replay you can see the twist unfold in real time.
I saw it used in the community and assumed it was just a silly meme referencing Atlas’ catchphrase. Boy was I wrong and pleasantly surprised by the twist
When I heard "Break that puppy's neck, I spat out my drink, and got chills down my spine. Then the whimpers from the dog, legitimately made me want to kill every single thing in sight. That was horrifying. Like I remember thinking "SERIOUSLY WHAT THE ACTUAL FRICK" I felt incredibly disturbed for about 15 minutes, and thinking about still makes me shudder.
I expected him to say or do something awful because it seemed obvious he wasn't just being nice but I wasn't expecting something so brutal. What really sells it though, is the way the kid cries & says "no". They knew they couldn't disobey so all they could do is beg him to stop saying it. It was so cathartic finding Suchong's corpse & the audio diary next to him.
From the beginning when you crash in the ocean and make your way to the dark, foreboding tower sticking out of the surface, I knew this game would be great. One of my all time favorites, brings back a lot of good memories. 2007 was an insane year for gaming.

I did that once or twice on hard for bioshock 2 haha They specifically give you more ammo drops after that happens same with cash tho so 🤷♂️ Idt I ever had the problem in the first one because I loved the wrench so much
Im gonna give you a tip... Use the wrench forget about plasmids research elite bouncer (drill big daddy) get wrench jockey, most power full weapon is the wrench with wrench jockey 1 and 2 plus electro bolt
Bioshock 1 is the most unique and original. Bioshock 2 is the most emotional. (When she tosses the doll in the water = makes me tear up every time) Bioshock Infinite is the most creative/story that could easily be made into a movie. All three are excellent in their own ways.
Fun fact: I got into Bioshock by accident. Around like 2010, I was a little pipsqueak who loved anything horror. Also I was really into “the grudge” series at the time and I wanted the game for the wii because I saw an ad of it in “gameinformer” magazines. But because the ad was laid out next to a bioshock review, I thought bioshock was the grudge game (now that I look back on it idk how I mixed up the two but I was 9 and kinda stupid so it makes sense). So I ended up getting bioshock and within the first minute of the intro, I loved it. I knew I had gotten the wrong game at that point but I didn’t care. Bioshock is now my all time favorite game.
That was me with the Mega Man Battle Network games(I found them used at GameStop, so they didn't even have the box to show me some screenshots). I thought they were just going to be another dose of Jump and Shoot Man on GBA, but it was so much more.
I played the remaster for the first time, after I got the wrench I got curious and smacked a glass panel and I freaked because it felt and sounded so real I thought I busted the glass wall. 10/10 wrench physics.
True fact: in 7th grade when I first played this game, I was so engrossed in the atmosphere and story, I decided to read Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead, and eventually the majority of Atlas Shrugged my sophomore year which the creators said inspired the storyline of the game. Reading Ayn Rand would eventually expose me to philosophy as a discipline and when I finally went to college, chose that as my major. I honestly am not sure I would have gone down that road if I didn’t read the works of Rand and that would never had happened if I didn’t play this game over a decade ago. Video games as art are severely underrated in our culture, but as more people like myself age, I don’t think that will continue to be the case. Side note: BioShock also gave me an appreciation of Art Deco architecture; something that has stayed with me since, and when I took a trip to NYC, I made it a point to stop at and soak in the pure artistic beauty of Rockefeller Center and Radio City hall.

The special thing about Andrew Ryan as a villain, is that most villains in other peace’s of media r the bad guys because they have absolute control, but Ryan is different because of his lack of intervention
I think the whole Bioshock series is a masterpiece. It's not easy to make a game with meaningful story + gameplay in first person works so well. Kevin Levine is like the Kojima of the first person games lol

I'm still ready for a boss fight... but the sixth sense is awakening... n ur added cut scenes... yeah... that really happened... exactly like that... thank u so much for the trip down memory lane... the games we were blessed to play in those days... thank you to everyone who had a part in making that game... it was truly a masterpiece...
When I was 15, I was obsessed with Call of Duty. My friend Ian and I went a Gamestop one day and he told me that 'BIOSHOCK' was a must play game. He said "You've gotta try something other than COD." That night, I gave Bioshock a try, and I was hooked. Ever since that first play through, Bioshock has been one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. It holds sentimental value to me almost 10 years later. When I saw you put out a video discussing this game, I was freakin' PUMPED! Thanks for another great video Act Man!

i bought the package with all 3 games and finished the first two so far. I'd say the second is my favorite so far, playing as big daddy felt amazing. As soon as I finished the first I started the second and they both feel very similar, I think a lot of people prefer the first because of nostalgia.
Just finished playing it and went straight to this video. MASTERPIECE of a game and story, loved it all the way through and can't wait to play Bioshock 2 and dive more into Rapture.
The first Xbox game I ever played was this when I was 7, I still play Bioshock 1 and 2 over and over to this day. an absolute masterpiece of a video game and if it did not exist I have no idea what my childhood would look like.

I remember seeing the commercials for this game on the tv playing to "beyond the sea". I was enraptured (pun unintended) and every time it came on I stopped whatever I was doing and just watched in awe. I knew I had to get it and begged my mother. The rest is history. Own the game on like 3 or 4 different systems by now. Forever in my top 3 games of all time

@@huntclanhunt9697 Yeah funnily enough the original Half Life was the game that pretty much set the standard for telling a story without cutscenes, with environmental storytelling... by comparison Bioshock relies much more on cutscenes to tell the major parts of its story.
Dead Space and Bioshock are peak gaming. Still remember the first time going against a Big Daddy in the Medical Pavilion and being killed so many times, exhausting every bit of ammo, health and Eve. The feeling when he finally went down was epic.
I love how I finally got around to playing Bioshock's 1 and 2 a couple months ago and now all these people are making videos about it because of the nostalgia wave. Makes me glad I finally picked them up at the right time.

So I searched and searched EB Games(basically gamestop, I think, never been there) until I found the collection for PS4, and HOO BOI, it was worth it! On my 8th playthrough, but I eventually stopped. What was so insanely brilliant about the "would you kindly" twist is that it uses the video game platform perfectly to tell the story. We ARE the character fully. He knows as much about his past as we do and because it's a video game, we do every thing our quest giver kindly asks us to do. In fact we have no choice but to obey. If we don't obey, the game does not move on, therefore we must. Just such a brilliant way to show what video games are capable of when it comes to story telling.

Another nice detail is the tattoos on Jack's wrist. 2 chains, one on each wrist. Jack was never in control, he was always a slave, chained to Fontaine's orders.

Played BioShock 1 last year for the first time and immediately was like why the hell did it take me so long to play this masterpiece of a game. Loved it so much I even bought the prequel BioShock audiobook just for more lore.

whowantsacheezburger I’m gonna give an extremely hot take and say that hl2 is just an okay game. It has good pacing and a few great areas but the enemy variety is boring (besides the zombies in ravenhold) and the weapon balance is kinda garbage (the shotgun and smg are clearly the best weapons while the fun weapons are garbage). The story is also only okay and has only 2 good characters, those being alyx and the g-man. That’s just my opinion though, feel free to call me objectively wrong as much as you like

The remaster is perfect they added the right amount of dirt on the window
from what I played, remastered had small graphical improvements but more importantly dlc and really cool dev commentary and you got it free if you owned bioshock already

It’s such an incredible twist, and it honestly only could’ve been pulled off in an interactive medium like a video game because the themes of the game apply to the players themselves, not just the main protagonist. This makes Bioshock one of the most revolution games of all time in my opinion

The ending in Bioshock 1 is just so well done; throughout the game, you only have ONE choice: save the little sisters or don't. That single choice determines what kind of man Jack becomes, anything else in the game is "scripted" because he (you) is nothing but a slave and it ultimately determines what ending you get.

The most OP weapon in the game is a plasmid. And that plasmid is, Target Dummy. Makes the game sooooo easy even on Survivor! Big Daddy? No problem, hack a turret, stand next to it, shoot the big daddy and then keep putting out target dummys and the turret goes to work. Easy.
I played the whole game with winter blast, freezing everything and then melee wrench with bonus damage equipped. Telekenisis is crazy too, definitely you can abuse mechanics in this game.

I didn't end up playing Bioshock until late 2020, but I was blown away by how good it was. Between the story/lore, voice acting, and especially Rapture being my favorite setting in any video game I've ever played, it's one of my top 5 favorite games ever!
I highly suggest reading the book"Bioshock : Rapture" by John Shirley. He basically collected all the lore and turned it into a badass novel

I don’t think Bioshock 2 gets enough credit. It wasn’t a necessary sequel, and it could never match the initial wonder and mystery the original had, but it was still great. Also greatly improved the core gameplay.
I feel like Bioshock 2 was just made to allow you to play as a Big Daddy. I know a lot of people were asking for that before Bioshock 2 was released.
Big Daddies and little sisters are practically the heart and soul of Rapture, Bioshock 2 is like my favourite game of all time possibly, i loved the addition of the Alpha Series and i think Delta was a better silent protagonist due to never seeing his face and letting his actions speak for him
Bioshock 2 was also smart in story telling as going the exact opposite of what the first story was, Jack was a free man who found out he was actually a slave, while Delta was a slave who found his freedom
and yeah the main story isn't as good as the first game's BUT its DLC is though haha, if Minerva's Den was the main story of Bioshock 2, people would praise it as an amazing sequel
Bioshock 2 is the best one with gameplay and the story of main game and DLC is good plus the MP is suprisingly good. Then again, the MP was made by the same people behind gems like Wolfenstien and Quake Enemy Territory as well as Dirty Bomb.
I'm fairly sure Bioshock 2 was because they had so many unused concepts from the first game. Some of the writing is cheesy, but most of it is great

With regards to cyberpunk i think they had little to no choice to release when they did. Between cancerous fans sending death threats to devs for delaying the game before, and shareholders pushing it out for their Christmas cash, and if it took another couple months (which would have been needed to iron out bugs and make it playable on last gen consoles) the hype would have died. I still like the game and think in a couple years when next gen versions are out, bugs gone, content added (that shouldn't have been cut in the first place) i think we'll look back on it in admiration as the great RPG i know it can be. Too bad the release version was sub-par.

When I first played I harvested all the little sisters. On my second one I went in equally blind and saved them all. And the ending literally brought tears to my eyes. And not many game stories can do that. It was so beautiful and sad

The online multiplayer for Bioshock 2 was incredible, and tied directly into the overall story. The end of multiplayer goes straight into the beginning of Bioshock 1. Also the book Rapture is an awesome addition that makes the games even better to replay after reading it.

I had an odd experience with Bioshock. When I first started playing it, I really didn't like it, but for some reason I kept coming back to it hoping something would click, and I would get why so many people loved it. It finally did, and now, 10 plus playthroughs later, it's one of my absolute favorite games of all time. I really hope this game is remade some day.
My introduction to Bioshock many moons ago ended when I was to battle my first big daddy of the game. It felt like such an insurmountable task compared to the weapons I possessed at the time. Pretty weak reason honestly, but I redeemed myself by starting Bioshock again recently and finishing it too!
First time I played bioshock I was a bit scared and the game was scary for quite a while without giving you anything to fight back.
Today it has become one of my favorite games and I am not a person scared easily, but I just hate it when games try too much to be scary that it turns out like a walking simulator.
In the beginning you feel like that and it puts people off.
That being said, there are some horror scenes in the game but it will never be as bad as the very beginning when you are left at the mercy of the unknown.

There were two moments in BioShock that always stuck with me. When you meet the doctor and he freaks out after seeing you, and Andrew Ryan when you finally confront him. The voice acting was fantastic and gave me goosebumps. Still one of my all time favorite games

I still get the urge to chuckle every time I hear the "Circus of Values" vending machine, knowing that's Ken Levine's voice. If I recall correctly, he says in one of the behind-the-scenes videos for Bioshock's remastered collection that he used to do that voice for his wife occasionally after the game came out. And she HATED it every time, which he found hilarious.

Honestly "Would you kindly" is an amazing phrase to use too, the subtlety of coming across as merely polite on first glance, but when you see the twist and replay you can see the twist unfold in real time.

When I heard "Break that puppy's neck, I spat out my drink, and got chills down my spine. Then the whimpers from the dog, legitimately made me want to kill every single thing in sight. That was horrifying. Like I remember thinking "SERIOUSLY WHAT THE ACTUAL FRICK" I felt incredibly disturbed for about 15 minutes, and thinking about still makes me shudder.

I expected him to say or do something awful because it seemed obvious he wasn't just being nice but I wasn't expecting something so brutal. What really sells it though, is the way the kid cries & says "no". They knew they couldn't disobey so all they could do is beg him to stop saying it. It was so cathartic finding Suchong's corpse & the audio diary next to him.

For me, it was Grim Fandango, and thanks to it I got into Bioshock
From the beginning when you crash in the ocean and make your way to the dark, foreboding tower sticking out of the surface, I knew this game would be great. One of my all time favorites, brings back a lot of good memories. 2007 was an insane year for gaming.
Just bought the trilogy on sale today. Crazy timing.

Me having no idea how to play bioshock properly: I've run out of ammo and health items so I'm just going to beat these people to death and if I die I'll just respawn so it's fine.
I did that once or twice on hard for bioshock 2 haha
They specifically give you more ammo drops after that happens same with cash tho so 🤷♂️

Bioshock 1 is the most unique and original.
Bioshock 2 is the most emotional. (When she tosses the doll in the water = makes me tear up every time)
Bioshock Infinite is the most creative/story that could easily be made into a movie.
All three are excellent in their own ways.
Fun fact: I got into Bioshock by accident. Around like 2010, I was a little pipsqueak who loved anything horror. Also I was really into “the grudge” series at the time and I wanted the game for the wii because I saw an ad of it in “gameinformer” magazines. But because the ad was laid out next to a bioshock review, I thought bioshock was the grudge game (now that I look back on it idk how I mixed up the two but I was 9 and kinda stupid so it makes sense). So I ended up getting bioshock and within the first minute of the intro, I loved it. I knew I had gotten the wrong game at that point but I didn’t care. Bioshock is now my all time favorite game.

That was me with the Mega Man Battle Network games(I found them used at GameStop, so they didn't even have the box to show me some screenshots). I thought they were just going to be another dose of Jump and Shoot Man on GBA, but it was so much more.

I remember being a small child when my dad bought a PS3 with Bioshock and Infamous. I got lucky getting introduced to such good games early on.
Infamous being good is debatable. But the 2nd one is a underrated gem.

I played the remaster for the first time, after I got the wrench I got curious and smacked a glass panel and I freaked because it felt and sounded so real I thought I busted the glass wall. 10/10 wrench physics.

True fact: in 7th grade when I first played this game, I was so engrossed in the atmosphere and story, I decided to read Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead, and eventually the majority of Atlas Shrugged my sophomore year which the creators said inspired the storyline of the game. Reading Ayn Rand would eventually expose me to philosophy as a discipline and when I finally went to college, chose that as my major. I honestly am not sure I would have gone down that road if I didn’t read the works of Rand and that would never had happened if I didn’t play this game over a decade ago. Video games as art are severely underrated in our culture, but as more people like myself age, I don’t think that will continue to be the case.
Side note: BioShock also gave me an appreciation of Art Deco architecture; something that has stayed with me since, and when I took a trip to NYC, I made it a point to stop at and soak in the pure artistic beauty of Rockefeller Center and Radio City hall.

The special thing about Andrew Ryan as a villain, is that most villains in other peace’s of media r the bad guys because they have absolute control, but Ryan is different because of his lack of intervention
and because he is not a simple black/white- "because I can, cocksxcker!"-Villain.
I think the whole Bioshock series is a masterpiece. It's not easy to make a game with meaningful story + gameplay in first person works so well. Kevin Levine is like the Kojima of the first person games lol

When I was 15, I was obsessed with Call of Duty. My friend Ian and I went a Gamestop one day and he told me that 'BIOSHOCK' was a must play game. He said "You've gotta try something other than COD." That night, I gave Bioshock a try, and I was hooked. Ever since that first play through, Bioshock has been one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. It holds sentimental value to me almost 10 years later. When I saw you put out a video discussing this game, I was freakin' PUMPED! Thanks for another great video Act Man!

i bought the package with all 3 games and finished the first two so far. I'd say the second is my favorite so far, playing as big daddy felt amazing. As soon as I finished the first I started the second and they both feel very similar, I think a lot of people prefer the first because of nostalgia.

Just finished playing it and went straight to this video. MASTERPIECE of a game and story, loved it all the way through and can't wait to play Bioshock 2 and dive more into Rapture.
The first Xbox game I ever played was this when I was 7, I still play Bioshock 1 and 2 over and over to this day. an absolute masterpiece of a video game and if it did not exist I have no idea what my childhood would look like.

You started on, in my opinion, one of the greatest video games ever made. So did I in much, much different way. It was called Mario Bros.
I remember seeing the commercials for this game on the tv playing to "beyond the sea". I was enraptured (pun unintended) and every time it came on I stopped whatever I was doing and just watched in awe. I knew I had to get it and begged my mother. The rest is history. Own the game on like 3 or 4 different systems by now. Forever in my top 3 games of all time

@@huntclanhunt9697 Yeah funnily enough the original Half Life was the game that pretty much set the standard for telling a story without cutscenes, with environmental storytelling... by comparison Bioshock relies much more on cutscenes to tell the major parts of its story.
