18:43 you just created petshop from the jojo fight game that capcom made, ignoring half of a characters move set makes him incredible at worst and one of the top tiers at best. A fly state from specials would probably be better
I swear the moment you told me about Carock I could not believe it. I am very glad I convinced you to keep him. Thank you for letting me illustrate him and Ganondorf for you!
He’d fit the bill as a Ganondorf enforcer more than Skull kid though. Not at all saying he should replace Skull Kid in the roster but I can’t imagine Skull Kid being loyal to ANYONE but himself
This all sounds really good, though while watching I had some thoughts Id like to share. 1. Don't know how well it would go but maybe instead of another timestream/multiverse crossover an original take on all the characters. The series has remade characters over and over, so how about a new variation? This could take up most of the roster with guests from other zelda games being dlc or only 1 to 3 slots. 2. How about using the Soulcalibur series as a basis instead of Street Fighter? 2.5d fighters I feel are over represented, though with good reason. That being said, using the Soulcalibur system as a basis would account for weapons better and help to stand out. 3. Id cut back on the number of characters who are the same person. Getting DB Fighterz Goku flashbacks. While I think its inevitable due to how often the protagonists names are re-used, I think we could start with way more diffrent characters to start with atleast. 4. I really wish you added Yuga. Thank you for uploading, I enjoyed the video!
@@xaviertradewell-hutchins6811 it was cool that he used that wizard from Zelda 2, but Vatti is one of the only major villians not associated with Ganon. He deserved a mention.
I love what you came up with for adventure mode. A 2D top-down overworld to explore, simplistic enemies that teach you how to deal with certain archetypes, boss fights against other playable characters, it all sounds very similar to the story mode of an indie fighting game called Them's Fightin' Herds. It’s nice when fighting games have substantial single player modes that aren’t just regular CPU battles back-to-back. Vaati not being mentioned as a potential playable character feels like a kinda glaring omission, but overall I think your roster choices were great. Bringing back an obscure boss like Carock and making them the main villain was a pretty crazy idea, but I honestly kinda dig it.
My only issue is that the Calamity Era takes up a lot more roster space than I would’ve liked. With 6 fighters - two of whom are alternate incarnations of other characters on the roster - that’s about a quarter of the roster representing a relatively small slice of the series’ history. That said, the only one that I can imagine replacing without removing an entire distinct fighting style is Sage Zelda, since not only is she an alternate incarnation, but as a magic-user she’d have a similar ‘vibe’ as OC Zelda. But even then I don’t have a big pick for a Wisdom fighter to replace her with, and her Lv3 Force would undoubtedly be my favorite move in the entire game. Mwegh. I see it as a problem but I don’t have a solution quite yet.
Personal opinion of course. I'd probably limit the Golden Three to one representative in their basic form and one in a very different form. So no filling the roster with all of Link, Toon Link, Wolf Link, and Champion Link. I'd probably keep it to Link (but swap him from Balance to Courage), Wolf Link and Midna, Zelda, Sheik, Ganondorf, Ganon. And save additional versions for DLC characters. This would, somewhat surprisingly, leave exactly 1 opening for each type. So to fill out the roster I'd add Vaati to Wisdom, a Great Fairy to Courage, Twinrova to Power. And since I think we want someone who's kinda standard and Link-adjacent to make a simple starting character for Balance, I'm kinda leaning toward Linkle. There are admittedly other characters I'd probably prefer adding before Linkle, but none really fit as a basic all-arounder that this system has set up.
Feel like twinrova would be wisdom as a spellcaster. King bulbin would be power. Totslly agree with cutting clones though. Just make them alternative skins
@@firenze6478 Yeah, I can see it. Though the reason why I put them in Power was specifically so we can see what a magic focused Power character would look like, since I took away the Power!Zelda. And the Twinrova narratively through their strong ties to Ganon made sense to place in that Power focused slot. Now that said, you are very right that the actual gameplay we see the Twinrova use in each of their iterations would more directly fit into the zoner/Wisdom slot than bruiser/Power.
Not keen on the idea of Skull Kid being one of Ganondorf's enforcers. Him and Majora's Mask always seemed more like agents of chaos, acting by their own whims, so following under someone feels like a stretch. Maybe include a different henchman instead, like Yuga, Agahnim or Vaati? I actually like the idea of Carock as the sorcerer behind it all. It's a deep cut that few would expect and characterises a long-forgotten character, rather than just being someone wholly expected that easily fits the role like Agahnim. Lastly, Groose Gang LET'S GO!
I feel like Ganon could take advantage of Skull Kid's whims and empower him to do more evil than he intends to, only to have a last minute heel face turn
@@BJGvideos That works for Skull Kid, but I'm not so sure about Majora's Mask itself. My best attempt at an explanation is that Skull Kid isn't actually an enforcer for Ganondorf. Instead Skull Kid and Majora act more as a last-ditch nuke for if all else fails. He can't control Skull Kid & Majora, or force them to submit to him, but he can keep them hidden away as a deadly ace up his sleeve. Skull Kid's dungeon could even act as his holding cell, Ganondorf entrapping Skull Kid so he doesn't run amok and make things difficult for both sides.
My thoughts on Skull Kid are weird. I get the popularity, it's just weird seeing folks constantly want him in crossovers as a villain rep when he's like... Not, truly. It's just a lonely kid possessed by some freaky deaky mask spirit ultimately, i wonder do ppl really want just Majora in there but go with Skull Kid cause Majora's actual body would lowkey be weird to look at? Lol.
I thought for sure that mysterious reveal was going to be Vaati - the sorcerer from the Minish Cap/4 Swords, only for my smug face to be soundly shocked at the actual reveal. Well Played.
I think a lock-in (for DLC at least) would have to be Echoes of Wisdom Zelda. Not only is she from THE latest Zelda game, this game also marks the first time she's actually the main playable character in a mainline game, and she has a fairly unique moveset that'd fit pretty well as a wisdom-type character. She could be a tactical zoner, or maybe even a puppet fighter, she could have a sword install...
Someone else I think would be pretty cool is Demise, as a Shin Akuma-type character. Essentially Ganondorf but souped up to a ridiculous degree. Yes he'd be banned in tournaments. Speaking of villains, like everyone said, where's Vaati? That speaks for itself. Oh and tbh four swords Link(s) would be pretty cool too. I think they could fight like Ginyu in DBFZ does, with one "main" link in front assisted by the rest, coming together for force attacks?
I pitched the idea for a Cucco being a “joke character but not really”. Being in the courage class as an unga bunga rush down fighter that overwhelms with merciless attacks. They’d even have a gimmick that references how those demon chickens behave in the main games. With their stats and power of their force attacks increasing as their health goes down. All coming at the cost of limited options to work around zoning and being very predictable.
Only issue is not having one of the Oracles and Vaati in the base game honestly. Vaati is the second biggest antagonist in the series going off purely with his recurring. And the Oracles just think it would be fun and just a good bonus surprise pick. Honestly was disappointed the two of them weren't in either Hyrule Warriors.
Balance: Link (original design) Urbosa Tingle Zant Ghirahim Dark Link (the Akuma to Link's Ryu) Hylia (the secret final boss of the game. after clearing certain objectives in the story you'll unlock the Trial of the Goddess and must fight her to unlock her. She can switch between the powers of the 3 goddesses in order to lean towards a Courage, Power or Wisdom fighter) Courage: Impa (original design) Toon Link Revali Skull Kid Midna Byrne Wisdom: Zelda (original design) Wise Zelda (based on Echoes of Wisdom) Agahnim (the one responsible for the portals. the story revolves around his plot to use the new Ganondorf as a vessel for his Ganon to come to this world and take over) Vaati Rauru Gohmara (essentially Gohma in human form, inspired by original characters like Volga & Wizzrobe) Power: Ganondorf (original design) Ganon (A Link to the Past) Darunia Groose Master Kohga Sidon
@@BJGvideos I suppose they could we changed. I just remember Byrne zipping around all over the place for his boss fight, so Courage seemed to make sense to me. Kohga also used a bunch of big mechs and giant projectiles for his fights so I thought power would work
Maybe I'm biased but I think Rauru would be a nice balance type given his outright power, long ranged attacks, light shield, and his willingness to get up close and personal ( like he did against ganondorf. Plus He has claws.) Not to mention what different kind of zonai abilities he could have with both of his arms using the ultrahand and fuse abilities.
Wisdom, Courage and Power as a format is pure genius! I know Smash Bros is the only Nintendo fighting game that'll ever exist but a spinoff like this could be fun! Y'all combined Tekken with Pokémon and it worked well enough so why not LoZ?!
I guess it's due him being co-owned by Capcom still. Makes him a Geno of Zelda, essentially (come to think of it tgey slightly share same design elements too)
I think it would be fun to have some recognisable enemies as playable fighters like Darknuts, Stalmasters, Lizalfos, or Moblins. I sort of pictured a Zelda fighter to be somewhat like Soul Calibur to reenact duels and mini-bosses from both 3D and top-down titles.
I think we can safely shift Champion Link and Sage Zelda to DLC since, despite what they bring to the table, they're still closer to the native Link and Zelda compared to Wolf Link, Toon Link, Sheik, and Phantom Zelda. Replacing them would be two other missed opportunities from Hyrule Warriors and thus two more to the forces of darkness. Vaati: Wisdom-Cunning Wind Mage Mentally restored to who he was prior to his initial imprisonment, this ambitious Minish magician seeks to finish what he originally started with his Zelda and the Light Force with this Zelda and the Triforce of Wisdom. Retaining his current power but now with the mind to properly wield it, Vaati mixes powerful wind magic with other various projectiles to make his opponent's approach quite difficult, and should that not be enough, temporarily shift to his Eyeball form for his Level 3 Force Attack. Twinrova: Balance-Dual Elemental Trickery Our current Ganondorf's secondary magic tutor, this composite witch lends her spells to her surrogate child's invasion while taking interest in Carock's knowledge of other dimensions and timelines. Mistress of both fire and ice, Twinrova utilizes a stance system that lets her alternate between the two at will, with a meteoric flurry of the two serving as her Level 3 Force Attack.
Honestly I was expecting the hooded sorcerer to seem to be Aghanim but then be future Ganondorf in disguise. I like that you're using pigman Ganon instead of the full on pig demon I'm imagining Sage Zelda leaning over to Champion Link as Urbosa walks by. "We can't tell her. You know we can't tell her. Under no circumstances can we tell her..." and then it turns out that Urbosa is from the Age of Calamity timeline instead. Know who would make great dlc is Nabooru. She got shafted in HW and no, getting a Divine Beast named after her isn't sufficient she wants revenge. A fighting game with an adventure mode...reminds me of Ergeiz, if anyone remembers that for any other reason other than it had FF7 characters in it. Though the adventure mode was entirely disconnected from (and a lot better than) the fighting game part. But a game like you propose could make things work nicely.
Legit an awesome roster The second dlc should have Purah Vaati Fi And maybe also Mask Link if you don’t have a limit on links Maybe Lana and Linkle could show up
Not going to lie, after Carrock and Ganon, I thought the last character would be the game original Link as a fully realized hero with the courage class and a few new things from his default depiction that would be upgrades to his abilities, at least in terms of lore. Suffice to say, I was way off =P But this was a really good video. I especially love what you did with Carrock and the Assist Item mechanic.
Characters I thought up for Hyrule Warriors would be just as cool in a fighting game in my opinion. - Nabooru (Gerudo weapons AND Iron Knuckle Armor) - Vaati - Byrne - Quill (attack with mail or something idk) - HERO'S SHADE!!!!!!!
Also, I know this doesn't really fit into the video's format, so I'm not saying you should've mentioned it, but I feel like this game would definitely have *at least* two fully original fighters other than the incarnations of the triforce wielders.
Yeah, I thought this exact same thing. Hyrule Warriors had original characters too and they're also present in many other crossover fighters like with the MVC2 OCs and the second best Persona character. A real Zelda fighter would most likely make an original character or two. I assume it was just too much of a hassle to design a completely original character concept and commission artwork, though, which is why it wasn't there.
Alright another roster Video, and I think this one is your best one yet, Del! Despite the series' (current) lack of spin-offs, I too always thought that The Legend Of Zelda could do a fighting game really well since the franchise has a lot of combat involved! I love the massive amount of variety you've chosen as the potential playable fighters for The Legend Of Zelda: Fighting Edition, as well as giving different Triforce members different fighting style classes; Courage fighters being all about Rushdown, and Footsies, and is green like Farore, Wisdom fighters being all about Zoning, and Trapping, and is blue like Nayru, Power fighters being all about Bruising, and Grappling, and is red like Din, and even a Balance Type Class that are, of course, a jack-of-all-trades with no benefit over any Class, and is purple (which was a nice callback to Purple Link as well), and in the center of the iconic Triforce artifact! I also love not only the amount of iconic Zelda items with each having its own Triforce, but also each Class can equip them for their own benefit regardless of their fighting style, as well as giving them a power meter called the "Force Gauge" with a maximum of 3 like the Triforce, and not only giving each Class their own strengths, and weaknesses, but also each filled gauge allows fighters different types of attacks! Plus making the Adventure more Zelda-like rather than just the usual fighting game Adventure where characters just casually meet each other over time, and the addition of an obscure Zelda II Boss being the mastermind as well as expanding his lore, followed by Ganon showing up as the true final boss, and then of course last one being Tingle! And no, I didn't think you went too overboard with the Wild Era characters; 6/25 isn't too overkill. I think other characters like Zelda Unrivaled Impa would make for a great DLC fighter with enough differentiations from Skyward Sword Impa! Excellent Video once again! I look forward to the next Roster Video!
the lack of vaati, the only non-ganon(/ganondorf) villain to appear in multiple mainline games, who was only hijacked by ganon once out of his three appearances, a genuinely interesting villain especially in minish cap, a genuine threat coming from the toon games, and who would be fun to play as due to his vast magical capabilities, is the biggest, most glaring, most painful omission, especially because 1. you used minish cap footage 2. he could have taken the slot of champion link(i understand the idea and it's a sick idea, but you do not need four links in base roster) or totk zelda(the least interesting of the zeldas in the roster) and 3. he was nowhere to be seen in hyrule warriors. he would either be a power or balance class zoner- he's intelligent, sure, but his impulsivity doesn't lend well to wisdom. the rest of the roster is cool though, especially groose and zant!
Fantastic concept!! I really like your character choices, and especially the "choose a Zelda item" mechanic. The story mode is a really interesting idea too. Plus, recognition for the best Zelda character, Groose.
This roster is FRUSTRATINGLY realistic. 6 Wild era characters and no Vaati? You could tell me this was official and i'd almost believe you. Only giveaway is that you went with items and not Runes, and they wouldnt remember the Kokiri or Carock even exist, let alone put them on a roster lmao.
I love these roster building videos you’ve been making. And seeing these fighter concepts has got me thinking of some of my own… Lana-Overseer of eras (Hyrule Warriors) Class: Balance I’m not sure of the original characters from the warriors spin offs would be eligible for this hypothetical game. But if they are, Lana would embody the frantic hack and slash nature of her origin game to a T. Using magic not to zone, but to slash with short range waves of spell book pages, creates walls to bounce around and detonate for pressure, and make the pace of the battle as chaotic as she desires. Just be sure to think clearly and not to jump into attacks by mistake. Her high damage is balanced by her ironically low health. Wisdom Zelda: Damsel turned hero (Echoes of wisdom) Class: Wisdom Echoes of Wisdom isn’t even out and I already have a perfect idea of how this iteration of the princess battles. Wisdom Zelda would be a puppet character that uses the echoes as proxy fighters and controls their movements for either disjointed attacks or extra hit boxes on her own. Throw in the tether ability as an emergency “get off me” or repositioning for the echoes. And a level 3 force attack where she outright creates a boss monster to fight for her while she retreats to catch her breath, and she’s bound to be playing chess while everyone else is fencing. Majora’s Wrath: Furious demon mask. (Majora’s Mask) Class: Power No longer bothering with puppeting around Skull Kid, the mask decides to cut lose and unleash its full strength. With a hulking ogre body that has unfairly long range whips of flesh, this behemoth is actually a power class that has zoning potential with telegraphed attacks that hit hard if not blocked, and leave them open if they fail. Oh, I should also mention this thing has a gimmick based on its game of origin. Their force gauge builds up from attacks slower than other fighters, but passively fills up automatically at all times. With a level 3 that has fittingly apocalyptic damage. Your opponent is essentially fighting you on a (second?) time limit before the mask can drop a moon on them. Cucco: Feathered fiend. Class: Courage Room for one more “joke character but not really”? This practical joke/nightmare is definitely worthy of a slot on the roster of Hyrule’s mightiest. With a basic but still formidable unga-bunga rush down style of pecks, talon swipes, and feather slaps, the Cucco would be a fierce beast that wants to keep their rival’s face in eye gouging distance at all time. And to reference their mob justice retaliation in the main line games, their force attacks would all call in other members of the flock, and get stronger when the belligerent bird is at low health. Though they do have a big weakness; being very predictable as a mindless animal that has no real answer to zoners other than throwing themselves forward and hoping they can get a combo going. You want to play a mindless animal that tears prey apart? OK, but you got to take the downsides that come with it.
I could see Ravio having elements of both an item and puppet character, having a move that uses a random assist item (not using the gauge of the assist item you already picked), and using Sheerow to assist with pokes and combo starters (for reference, think Rosalina and Luma).
While I do think you leaned a bit too heavily on the wild era its hard to blame you for that. Out of the 4 races of the champions the characters from the wild era are by far the most popular representatives across the Zelda franchise and the Wild era was simply huge for Zelda. Personally I'd switch Sage Zelda for Vaati though.
This is actually such a cool concept. we can see how characters that wouldn’t work in other fighting games like smash would would still work in a fighting game while also not being set to a singular incarnation of the character and seemingly triforce users
Not a bad roster and the mechanics could be really interesting. I might try to make the cast a little more evenly varied over the whole series but that's just me.
Love the idea for a story mode! Reminds me of Subspace Emissary a bit in how it'd use all the characters. (Which I can imagine this being a great way to see some fun interactions.) And, since everyone else is doing it: Courage: Epona, the loyal steed who will help their master no matter what! While I'm suggeting her by herself, you could add someone like Malon or Romani to ride on top to shoot arrows. Power: King Bulblin, a wandering warrior, who fights only for the strongest side, but where will he allign in this fight? Wisdom: Beedle, with his pack of goodies and unconventional weapons, this man is set to join the battle, and maybe make a quick buck (also considered Malo for this role) Balance: (and maybe a bit of a stretch) Ralph, from Oracle of Ages, either his own version in this world, or the original whose found himself in this new one, he's bound to do whatever it takes to achieve his goal.
Great video. Really fun idea. I decided to make my own roster before I watched this. 16 of the 25 were the same. The nine that I picked that you didn't were as followed: - Dark Link - Agahnim - Tetra - Vaati (I think this was your biggest snub) - King of Red Lions - Hilda - Revali (Tulin was close enough) - Riju (same as above but replace Tulin with Urbosa) - Rauru I didn't have Toon Link, Ruto, Urbosa, Champion Link, Sage Zelda, Tulin, Phantom Zelda, Carock or Tingle on my roster. I'm surprised you didn't pick Rauru since I know I've seen you do videos with him before including a full moveset. But either way, everyone's roster will look a little different. The amount of love and detail you put into these videos is awesome. I'm a 33 year old Zelda nerd who has a Master Sword and Hylian Shield hanging up inside my house, so keep these videos coming!
No joke, the one thing I came into this video with in mind, was that this game NEEDS an assist system that utilizes various items from across the series. Gold star.
A few changes I’d make: Not including Vatti is a crime, cut tulin. I think that the shadow nightmares could make for fun antagonist characters, if they constantly shift hurtboxes and attack styles, like switching to DethI for a strong attack, but switching to a zol to hop away. Not like a swap character, just a singular fighter who can shape-shifter. Marin is a good choice, I would cut shiek, since impa fits that role well. A construct/ guardian may work, but I could see disdain for them as they are basic enemies. Demise is cool, and it would be nice to see him, but he’s not necessarily with giraham on the roster. Just spitballing. It could be a funny reference to include a 8 bit link for a “classic” reference. Also not necessary, but it could work, with the choppy animation style. Master kogah, I think he would be a great inclusion to the roster.
Sidon should be cut not Tulin, he has a unique and relevant primary weapon type and is of the more relevant species to the series than Vati is We would still have a Zora and a Spear user with Sidon gone but lose both the only Rito rep and bow user and his unique element of wind
@@elemomnialpha fighting style is fine, but tulin as. Character is garbage. Just make him revali, if you really want a bow user. I do think vatti is important enough, as he’s the final boss of 2 different Zelda games.
If Link from the first two games was playable, he'd be a Power type Hero of Hyrule. Reasons: - Movement in the first game is fairly stiff, but he gets a lot of hearts, defensive gear, and powerful weapons; he also is immune to the explosions of his own bombs, frequently using them point blank on enemies for hard hitting AoE attacks - At the end of the first game after vanquishing Gannon, he takes the Triforce of Power and returns to Zelda her Triforce of Wisdom - While his movement is more nimble in the second game, it's still fairly stiff for a platformer with relatively stubby jumps outside of setting up the Jump spell first, and his primary attacks are the Downward Thrust to slam heavily onto an enemy with his sword facing down or a ducking crouch stab to sneak in powerful hits around enemy shields. He levels up his Power in this game from the starting Magical Sword of the first game (4x damage) to _eight times_ that (16x damage compared to his childhood Wooden Sword, 8x compared to the bow). His other spells either directly augment his attack or defense, largely (adding fireballs to his sword stab to extend its reach, reflecting enemy projectiles with his shield, and reducing incoming damage for a duration). One of his big supers could just be the Life spell, trading a bunch of meter for a health recovery - he's RELENTLESS - He's the first user of the Power Bracelet and also obtains the Handy Glove, a gauntlet that augments his sword to smash rocks (anti-projectile or anti-shield mechanics probably) This is a Link who _wields_ the Triforce of Power. Hence Ganon's minions wanting to kill him and use his blood in a ritual to raise Ganon back from the dead.
I kind of hope the Fierce Deity Mask shows up as a one-use item that gives its user a great but temporary boost in strength, alongside a new FDM-unique skin for each fighter to go with it.
I'm old enough to remember how, after the launch of Soul Calibur II, some fans were practically begging Namco to make a LoZ 3D fighter using the SC engine. Still a little sad that never happened
I really enjoyed this! Although there are many characters I wish could've been in. Purah and Robbie as a duo character, Mipha, Vaati, Terrako, and so on. But oh well. Can't have everyone.
What I would do if I had to make a roster for such a game is that I would focus on making each hero a separate character with a moveset based on the games they're featured in and make the other characters supports
Awesome idea and roster! Mine would probably be: Link Zelda Ganondorf Impa Sheik Demise Ghirahim Zant Midna Skull Kid Vaati Rauru (TOTK) Mineru Yuga Hilda Ravio Ganon Twinrova Master Kohga Daruk Revali Urbosa Mipha Sidon The new villain Possible DLC would include Onox, Veran, and Dark Link.
I could see a dlc season based around villains that are final bosses. Onox as a power type that use a ball and chain or an ax with his moves including his dark dragon form. Veran as a wisdom type that attacks with spells and transforming into her different forms for attacks such as her Dark Fairy true form, her tortoise, bee and spider forms. Each would give her an advantage and a disadvantage such as beetle having armour but being slow, bee being fast flyer but useless on the ground. Spider being fast on the ground with range attacks but very frail. Another weakness is that she can only spend a limited time in each form before transforming back into her human form. Her Dark Fairy form is balanced with having attacks from each of her other forms but not as strong as her other forms, she doesn't share the other forms disadvantages or advantages either. Vaati would be a courage type fighter. Dehtl would use moves from other fighters in the roster as a balanced fighter.
14:20 Dude I just had an big realization, WHAT IF.........Groose made the gauntlets and iron boots for Ocarina of Time? 24:48 Yes maybe too much BotW, Bern from Spirit Tracks could've been interesting to see, after he dies he gets reincarnated into this game and plans to help the heroes defeat this evil to make up for his weakness in Spirit Tracks.
Maz Kosha could be a rep for all the Sheikah tech. Guardian lasers. Swift rush down attacks. I could see Balance since he embodies all three classes. Kohga would also be an excellent Wild era addition. Have him be a massive double edged sword character that can summon these giant wrecking balls that are almost impossible to avoid but if it gets interrupted may fall on him. Burne being a power type with a claw shot type command grab to zoom in on opponents to deal massive damage would be neat. Mipha as a courage type could be this unique “glass tank” where she has plenty of moves that reward her with heals but her max HP is considerably low compared to most. She’ll also have water attacks to zone with but mainly focuses on dolphin diving her way into opponents. Could pull the Orcane style water fountain warp from AOC. Revali can be a super zoner but unlike Tulin, isn’t as slippery and is a lot more reckless. Focuses on spread shots and raining arrows across the stage. Twinrova as a wisdom type can have all sorts of fire and ice moves. Can also be an excellent enforcer for Ganondorf in the story. Maybe they can be a weird form change character where you can have them split and one will be hovering in the air out of reach firing down projectiles whilst the other is more vulnerable and have half the offensive power but is smaller and harder to hit. Link’s Uncle from LTTP could be an interesting power variant of Link in terms of swordplay. No projectiles, just powerful slashes and spin attacks. Pure fundamental character. Linebeck as a balance class could pull from many Phantom Hourglass items and the force attack could be the steamboat appearing in the background and laying cannon fire onto the stage. If you wanted to get weird, have Malon or Ilia as a character riding Epona into battle. Could see that as a courage type. King Bulblin could also be a heavyweight power class. That large ax/mace thing can be slow but have vicious knock back. Can shoot flaming arrows and maybe can use fires to set traps and have stage control. Force attack is riding King Bulbo and stampeding. Young Link but as a mask wielding form changer could be unique. Don’t bother with Y Link himself since you already have a ton of Links and four seems like a lot, but Deku can be wisdom focusing on snot bubbles and Deku nuts bombing below. Darmani is power for obvious reasons. And Mikau is courage as he dives in headfirst and electrifies opponents. And the force attack will obvious be Fierce Deity. Nabooru I can see being a stance change character based off HP%. Starts the battle as a power type Iron Knuckle and once the armor breaks off she becomes a swift scimitar wielding courage class who is much faster due to her being a cunning thief. More unorthodox but requires both her player and opponent to adapt to changing circumstances. Riju is wisdom class with overlap with your Urbosa and the liberated Nabooru I mentioned before. Give her a Gerudo bow she can whip out to fire an arrow and if the arrow pierces an opponent, her powerful but poor aim lightning strike would hit without fail. Yunobo is a power class but I want to take what he had in AOC to prevent too much overlap with Daruk. Eats rock roasts to self buff and can whip out powerful roll attacks boosted by the rock roast. Maybe the force attack can be the marbled rock roast that makes him extra aggressive. A fun idea for a DLC character is Cadace from the NecrodancerxZelda spin-off who has a little rhythm meter on her HUD and you get bonus damage when timing attacks with the rhythm. So she has rather easy combo chains but messing up the timing could make the payoff lackluster.
If you’ve played Age of Calamity, then you’ll know that Urbosa could very easily be the Nero function of the game (especially with the rev mechanic). Outside of that, hopefully MvC4 wins the vote.
While I think this is a pretty good roster, having 1/3 of the roster from the Wild era might be a bit much. I would switch TotK Zelda for the new Zelda from Echoes of Wisdom, Tulin for another flying character such as Medli, and Sidon for a character in a game not yet represented, like Linebeck from Phantom Hourglass, or Vaati from Minish Cap.
I feel like this roster is a bit "Era of the Wild" heavy, but otherwise I like it. Medli from Wind Waker could be an echo/alt for Tulin to add another Wind Waker rep. Likewise, Nabooru could be an echo/alt for Urbosa and Darunia or Darbus could be echos/alts for Daruk but personally I would like to see a version of Darmani taken from a time before his death in Majora's Mask as the Goron rep since that could add an element of tragedy to the roster and also give us a hero from that game. What I would really like to see is Onox and Veran from the Oracle games as playable villains since they have cool designs and didn't get to appear in Hyrule Warriors. Onox could be another heavy, utilizing his flail for attacks as well as his dragon form for specials and Veran could be magic focused and able to transform into her dark fairy and insect forms.
Definitely not the route i would go when designing systems for a possible game like this. The courage, wisdom, power, balance categories i don't think help really portray what playstyle they encompass. I'd just provide a couple titles to each category that help describe what archetypes the character fall into as well as difficulty like several recent fighters have been doing. If we still wanted to provide a triforce aspect, I would instead at character selection provide a choice of choosing courage, wisdom, or power, each providing a slight passive buff for the fight. like slightly better movement speed or damage. Id also adust the item system instead of only be a once per round use for item, id actually make each item its own kind of attack, with the puropose of the items to let characters either further emphasize their strengths or to cover weaknesses. Like a bow item could allow everyone access to a simple projectile, a bomb item could be used for trapping or certain combos, clawshot could latch on and let you get in close more easily, etc. Id also choose some different characters and change how others work simply for the purpose of better drawing from the series as a whole and providing a greater variety of playstyles. Like I think Midna in her imp form could be one that could worked to be made at least partly into a grappler and provide something for that archetype. Toon Zelda would be an easy choice to make a puppet character.
My ideas for this concept: Balanced - Princess Hylda (Link Between Worlds) Power - Demise (Skyward Sword) Wisdom - King Rauru (Tears of the Kingdom) Courage - Great Fairy (Link's Awakening) What do you think?
Since the Zoras are the only non-Hyrulian race (or non-Twili or non-Sheikah if you count Sheik, but shhhhhh) that seems to get doubled up on here, I personally would have changed Ruto out for one of the kings of Hyrule, perhaps. Though, it would be hard to adapt one of them to a Wisdom role, to keep the archetype balance you laid out. Maybe King Rhoam has a Royal Guard step in to fight as he issues them commands, in addition to his mastery with claymores and axes? Or King Daphnes uses magic to bend wind and water to his will, which throws his King of Red Lions ship across the battlefield for ranged attacks?
I think Hrule Warriors's other most significant omission was Twinwrovia. But I get it's a strange Pick. She could be a Wesdom type or the only Power type Zonner with our offensive fire and ice magic.
With this concept, I would love to see Vaati in his minish form in as a DLC addon. Maybe bring in some more four-swords influence and have a lot of disjointed attacks where he summons copies of himself to lunge at foes, as well as his dark wind magics?
I think this game would do better as a 3D fighter like Soul Calibur. I'm not too big into fighting games, but I feel like that kind of game lends itself better to Weapon-based fighters. Not saying that this couldn't work, just a feeling I had. Maybe that's just because of the one time Link was in Soul Calibur. Hell, maybe they could do this like in Pokken and just partner directly with the makers of SC.
Very fun video! I'd never come across you before; always great to find a new creator. I think I'd want more characters; Marvel vs Capcom 2 kinda let it out of the bag that you need 50+. To that end, I think everyone would have a valid Echo Fighter in our collective imagination.
just saw your reddit thread from nine years ago about doing smash bros analysis, i googled your name by curiosity, happy to seen your doing fine and still love smash bros
One idea I have is that rather than an obscure secondary character from Zelda Adventure of Link, the main villain is actually a completely new character from the distant past of the Era of the Wilds part of the timeline, specifically I’d have this character be the reason why there are only two Zonai in TOTK since he killed all the others and Rauru was forced to seal him away and this guy is Rauru’s brother. His ultimate plan is to destroy the entire timeline and remake it in his image. After he is defeated, rather than just summoning LTTP Ganon as a last ditch effort, he summons the mindless Ganon from the Oracle games and then pulls a Yuga on Ganon and possesses him to become a non playable boss character and ultimately this leads Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf to momentarily team up with Ganondorf’s motive being that he hated that he was used as a pawn and as such he decides to help Link and Zelda beat this threat out of spite for this villain. He did this once before in Subspace Emmisary so it’s not too out of character for him. After the fusion is defeated and the dark Zonai is killed, the world’s separate once again. And then Ganondorf flees to set up either a sequel or a DLC story.
if Sprit tracks is in the conversation than I'll bring up Byrne. Also the chance to kill him off again in a story mode to deal damage to the audience all over again. Still wondering how Ajean fought him off screen to a draw so she could be in the conversation. we could do Twinrover or Kotake and Koume as another wisdom fighter and they have their obvious elemental affinity to base attacks on. maybe both turning into twinrover for their focus mode If Medley got to be in warriors I think Marker deserves a chance but he'd have to feel different than Saria. but with flying, his instrument, seeds, and maybe maracas based on hestu he could work. Demise feels like a given and we could potentially get a villian civil war and see how Ganondorf and or Ganon react to him. picture what TP and WW ganondorf would have to say about each other. down the road consider Laruto and Wind waker Fado. they could be fun.
5 links (ravio and midna) and 4 zeldas? I can understand 3 of each (including Ganondorf and his various forms) after all DLC. The rest of the roster is good but those duplicates feel like wasted space. -Midna is fine on her own, whether imp or true form -ravio is fine, but I'm tired of the Hilda erasure, I'm including her -Phantom Zelda is unique, get rid of Sheik or TotK Zelda -no toon link, use the King -default Link is young is good, then BotW Link can also be used -get Vaati somewhere in base roster
I think the triforce should be a mechanic rather than a roster designation, it makes sense more canonically for it to be a usable power too. Smaller roster and then have a selectable triforce act like old melty bloods moons, selecting a triforce would change a characters specials and abilities to fit an overall playstyle.

Nice
I thought this was a Thorgi video for a moment, considering his Build the Roster series.
Do you have a link to the full artwork?
@@cam7990 Over here! twitter.com/AShadowLink/status/1829967592192172145
Master Kohga not making it in is criminal. Vehicular manslaughter for his force attack would go crazy.
To be fair, Zant kinda fills the same niche, but I can easily see him as a bonus character of some sort
He’d fit the bill as a Ganondorf enforcer more than Skull kid though. Not at all saying he should replace Skull Kid in the roster but I can’t imagine Skull Kid being loyal to ANYONE but himself
@@VR275KG
Maybe the Hero's Shade. But I digress.
If anything, Skull Kid should be Majora’s Mask’s enforcer, unless it is decided Majora itself would be a fighter.
Beedle and Dampe have been in more than a third of the entire series, so they deserve a spot.
Groose and Skull Kid? I love this roster! I just hope Vatti from Minish Cap and Four Swords shows up as DLC.
And how about one or two guest fighters? Like Pit or Marth?
Oh yeah, he totally forgot about Vaati
@@xaviertradewell-hutchins6811 it was cool that he used that wizard from Zelda 2, but Vatti is one of the only major villians not associated with Ganon. He deserved a mention.
I'd personally axe one of the human Links to add Tetra in but overall cool roster and overall game concepts.
THEM’S FIGHTIN’ HERDS MENTION LET’S GOOOOOOOOO
REST IN PEACE STORY MODE DON’T DO PUBLISHERS PEOPLE
My only issue is that the Calamity Era takes up a lot more roster space than I would’ve liked.
@@Neutra77 That would be neat.
I agree with the motive, but Skull Kid is too iconic to be removed.
WE WANT MORSHU AS DLC! But I know it'll be a great video despite the glaring omission.

MORSHU AND KING HARKINAIN FOR DLC
Sorry, Link, I can’t give credit. Come back when you’re a little, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, richer!
He can totally be the character you get the items from since Ravio is indisposed
Hello fellow blue Shyguy.
1:37 Yooo this was lowkey my idea for the roster in the Zelda Fighting Game post glad to see other people recognize its potential
I think Guardian (heck, I'll even take Terrako) to be in the roster because every game needs an unexpected playable character
I'd choose Morshu instead
I think Tingle and Carock were meant to be those unexpected additions.
@@mdalsted Carock was sick
Only issue is not having one of the Oracles and Vaati in the base game honestly. Vaati is the second biggest antagonist in the series going off purely with his recurring. And the Oracles just think it would be fun and just a good bonus surprise pick. Honestly was disappointed the two of them weren't in either Hyrule Warriors.
Balance:
Link (original design)
Urbosa
Tingle
Zant
Ghirahim
Dark Link (the Akuma to Link's Ryu)
Hylia (the secret final boss of the game. after clearing certain objectives in the story you'll unlock the Trial of the Goddess and must fight her to unlock her. She can switch between the powers of the 3 goddesses in order to lean towards a Courage, Power or Wisdom fighter)
Courage:
Impa (original design)
Toon Link
Revali
Skull Kid
Midna
Byrne
Wisdom:
Zelda (original design)
Wise Zelda (based on Echoes of Wisdom)
Agahnim (the one responsible for the portals. the story revolves around his plot to use the new Ganondorf as a vessel for his Ganon to come to this world and take over)
Vaati
Rauru
Gohmara (essentially Gohma in human form, inspired by original characters like Volga & Wizzrobe)
Power:
Ganondorf (original design)
Ganon (A Link to the Past)
Darunia
Groose
Master Kohga
Sidon
Byrne for Courage and not Power? I'd honestly swap him and Kohga (provided that's Age of Calamity Kohga, who had the backbone to switch sides)
@@BJGvideos I suppose they could we changed. I just remember Byrne zipping around all over the place for his boss fight, so Courage seemed to make sense to me. Kohga also used a bunch of big mechs and giant projectiles for his fights so I thought power would work
@@xKOSATx Oh so specifically TotK Kohga then. Yeah it depends on which version
Y'all combined Tekken with Pokémon and it worked well enough so why not LoZ?!
the lack of vaati is almost criminal
Everyone always snubs Vaati!!!
That too. Would reel back the Wild era stuff and/or iterations of Link a bit to make more room personally.
I guess it's due him being co-owned by Capcom still. Makes him a Geno of Zelda, essentially (come to think of it tgey slightly share same design elements too)
@@KonaKonaKaabisteru oh I didn't know that, it's a shame
Vaati: Wisdom-Cunning Wind Mage
Mentally restored to who he was prior to his initial imprisonment, this ambitious Minish magician seeks to finish what he originally started with his Zelda and the Light Force with this Zelda and the Triforce of Wisdom. Retaining his current power but now with the mind to properly wield it, Vaati mixes powerful wind magic with other various projectiles to make his opponent's approach quite difficult, and should that not be enough, temporarily shift to his Eyeball form for his Level 3 Force Attack.
Twinrova: Balance-Dual Elemental Trickery
Our current Ganondorf's secondary magic tutor, this composite witch lends her spells to her surrogate child's invasion while taking interest in Carock's knowledge of other dimensions and timelines.
I like that you're using pigman Ganon instead of the full on pig demon
I'm imagining Sage Zelda leaning over to Champion Link as Urbosa walks by.
I was expecting Tingle to be the resident joke character and you did not disappoint on that
Legit an awesome roster
The second dlc should have
Purah
Vaati
Fi
And maybe also Mask Link if you don’t have a limit on links
Maybe Lana and Linkle could show up
Yes, linkle being more lost.
And
Morshu
We can’t forget him
Not going to lie, after Carrock and Ganon, I thought the last character would be the game original Link as a fully realized hero with the courage class and a few new things from his default depiction that would be upgrades to his abilities, at least in terms of lore. Suffice to say, I was way off =P
But this was a really good video. I especially love what you did with Carrock and the Assist Item mechanic.
I think Master Kohga would be better as troll character than Tingle. But great choices you made with the characters. 😄
Nah; Tingle works. He's basically Dan Hibiki.
Characters I thought up for Hyrule Warriors would be just as cool in a fighting game in my opinion.
- Nabooru (Gerudo weapons AND Iron Knuckle Armor)
- Vaati
- Byrne
- Quill (attack with mail or something idk)
- HERO'S SHADE!!!!!!!
@@wariothelegend9645 Indeed, I thought the same. I'm not holding it against him or anything.
18:09 Congrats. you made a Zelda version of PET SHOP.
Love this idea! Two characters that instantly come to mind for me that I personally would’ve also added are Demise and Master Kogah
Very impressive! The unique mini-adventure spacing between fights for a story mode is a great idea I was not expecting!
I love these roster building videos you’ve been making. And seeing these fighter concepts has got me thinking of some of my own…
Lana-Overseer of eras (Hyrule Warriors)
Class: Balance
I’m not sure of the original characters from the warriors spin offs would be eligible for this hypothetical game.
Wisdom Zelda: Damsel turned hero (Echoes of wisdom)
Class: Wisdom Echoes of Wisdom isn’t even out and I already have a perfect idea of how this iteration of the princess battles.
(Majora’s Mask)
Class: Power
No longer bothering with puppeting around Skull Kid, the mask decides to cut lose and unleash its full strength.
Class: Courage
Room for one more “joke character but not really”?
I feel like ganondorf should have a trident instead of a sword or maybe both since they are is most popular weapon of choice.
Nah, Ganon has the trident.
Apart from hyrule warriors, ganondorf has never used the trident
You know my Daruk, Skull Kid, and Tingle triple threat will be menacing. Fantastic video as always
Crazy how I was randomly trying to think up this roster last night and then it pops in my feed today? Hellyeah
As an idea for another video, I always thought a weapon-based Fire Emblem fighting game (like Soul Calibur) could be great.
Girahim no nonses.... are we talking about the same dude? em
Love the idea for a story mode! Reminds me of Subspace Emissary a bit in how it'd use all the characters. (Which I can imagine this being a great way to see some fun interactions.) And, since everyone else is doing it:
Courage: Epona, the loyal steed who will help their master no matter what! While I'm suggeting her by herself, you could add someone like Malon or Romani to ride on top to shoot arrows.
Power: King Bulblin, a wandering warrior, who fights only for the strongest side, but where will he allign in this fight?
Wisdom: Beedle, with his pack of goodies and unconventional weapons, this man is set to join the battle, and maybe make a quick buck (also considered Malo for this role)
Balance: (and maybe a bit of a stretch) Ralph, from Oracle of Ages, either his own version in this world, or the original whose found himself in this new one, he's bound to do whatever it takes to achieve his goal.
Great video. Really fun idea. I decided to make my own roster before I watched this. 16 of the 25 were the same. The nine that I picked that you didn't were as followed:
- Dark Link
- Agahnim
- Tetra
- Vaati (I think this was your biggest snub)
- King of Red Lions
- Hilda
- Revali (Tulin was close enough)
- Riju (same as above but replace Tulin with Urbosa)
- Rauru
I didn't have Toon Link, Ruto, Urbosa, Champion Link, Sage Zelda, Tulin, Phantom Zelda, Carock or Tingle on my roster. I'm surprised you didn't pick Rauru since I know I've seen you do videos with him before including a full moveset. But either way, everyone's roster will look a little different. The amount of love and detail you put into these videos is awesome. I'm a 33 year old Zelda nerd who has a Master Sword and Hylian Shield hanging up inside my house, so keep these videos coming!
something something insert joke about my 7 favourite characters in this hypothetical game being: Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, Link, and lastly Link
I would've included Orca, the old man who teaches you combat in Wind Waker. He's practically made for a fighting game.
No joke, the one thing I came into this video with in mind, was that this game NEEDS an assist system that utilizes various items from across the series. Gold star.
Id personally add morshu, kohga, medli, malon, hestu, and tetra myself
Another awesome roster! I'd play Marin and Din instantly. That Patreon Poll is a tough choice, too...
They should get Bamco to make this Soulcalibur style (a la Pokkén Tournament).
A few changes I’d make:
Not including Vatti is a crime, cut tulin.
Sidon should be cut not Tulin, he has a unique and relevant primary weapon type and is of the more relevant species to the series than Vati is
We would still have a Zora and a Spear user with Sidon gone but lose both the only Rito rep and bow user and his unique element of wind
@@elemomnialpha fighting style is fine, but tulin as. Character is garbage. Just make him revali, if you really want a bow user. I do think vatti is important enough, as he’s the final boss of 2 different Zelda games.
@@aranryan-9440why no medli?
The era of wild bias in the list is overwhelming
@@firenze6478 is merlo the rito girl from the wind waker? If so then that would be ok in my eyes.
@@aranryan-9440 yes, medli
Ghirahim would make for an excellent "trap/combo" character, with his knife summoning and teleporting
If Link from the first two games was playable, he'd be a Power type Hero of Hyrule. Reasons:
- Movement in the first game is fairly stiff, but he gets a lot of hearts, defensive gear, and powerful weapons; he also is immune to the explosions of his own bombs, frequently using them point blank on enemies for hard hitting AoE attacks
- At the end of the first game after vanquishing Gannon, he takes the Triforce of Power and returns to Zelda her Triforce of Wisdom
- While his movement is more nimble in the second game, it's still fairly stiff for a platformer with relatively stubby jumps outside of setting up the Jump spell first, and his primary attacks are the Downward Thrust to slam heavily onto an enemy with his sword facing down or a ducking crouch stab to sneak in powerful hits around enemy shields. One of his big supers could just be the Life spell, trading a bunch of meter for a health recovery - he's RELENTLESS
- He's the first user of the Power Bracelet and also obtains the Handy Glove, a gauntlet that augments his sword to smash rocks (anti-projectile or anti-shield mechanics probably)
This is a Link who _wields_ the Triforce of Power.
I really fell in love with the mechanics more than the roster lolz.
I got my Main Wolf-Link so I'm all good.
I really enjoyed this!
Although there are many characters I wish could've been in.
Purah and Robbie as a duo character, Mipha, Vaati, Terrako, and so on.
But oh well. Can't have everyone.
Magda would sweep them all
What I would do if I had to make a roster for such a game is that I would focus on making each hero a separate character with a moveset based on the games they're featured in and make the other characters supports
Awesome idea and roster!
Mine would probably be:
Link
Zelda
Ganondorf
Impa
Sheik
Demise
Ghirahim
Zant
Midna
Skull Kid
Vaati
Rauru (TOTK)
Mineru
Yuga
Hilda
Ravio
Ganon
Twinrova
Master Kohga
Daruk
Revali
Urbosa
Mipha
Sidon
The new villain
Possible DLC would include Onox, Veran, and Dark Link.
So long as either of Zelda or Sage Zelda have an Ocarina of Time alt, I will be completely satisfied with the roster.
I would love to see a part 2 of this with potential dlc!
I feel like side characters like Byrne, Vaati, Ashei, and even Malon would be interesting choices.
For the final DLC fighter Demise would be lowkey kind of awesome.
My ideas for this concept:
Balanced - Princess Hylda (Link Between Worlds)
Power - Demise (Skyward Sword)
Wisdom - King Rauru (Tears of the Kingdom)
Courage - Great Fairy (Link's Awakening)
What do you think?
Man you cooked with this roster ngl.
Young Link who can transform into Fierce Deity for awhile would be an awesome character
A dlc i would like to see is one with hylia and demise
Nintendo needs to hire this dude. Brilliant work
Once again Vaati was robbed
But really good concept overall
I think Hrule Warriors's other most significant omission was Twinwrovia. But I get it's a strange Pick. She could be a Wesdom type or the only Power type Zonner with our offensive fire and ice magic.
With this concept, I would love to see Vaati in his minish form in as a DLC addon. Maybe bring in some more four-swords influence and have a lot of disjointed attacks where he summons copies of himself to lunge at foes, as well as his dark wind magics?
Maple, Blaino, and FSA Link are all unique enough to show up.
The item assists you are talking about remind me of the Strike Bombs from KoF 1999.
just saw your reddit thread from nine years ago about doing smash bros analysis, i googled your name by curiosity, happy to seen your doing fine and still love smash bros
I'd like to throw in Riju as another potential dual sword user.
She'd be a courage user, I guess.
I'd have each dlc pack be 1 of each category of fighter which would make it 4 per pack
if Sprit tracks is in the conversation than I'll bring up Byrne. Also the chance to kill him off again in a story mode to deal damage to the audience all over again. Still wondering how Ajean fought him off screen to a draw so she could be in the conversation.
we could do Twinrover or Kotake and Koume as another wisdom fighter and they have their obvious elemental affinity to base attacks on. maybe both turning into twinrover for their focus mode
If Medley got to be in warriors I think Marker deserves a chance but he'd have to feel different than Saria. but with flying, his instrument, seeds, and maybe maracas based on hestu he could work.
Demise feels like a given and we could potentially get a villian civil war and see how Ganondorf and or Ganon react to him.
picture what TP and WW ganondorf would have to say about each other.
down the road consider Laruto and Wind waker Fado. they could be fun.
4:09 I feel like either of her Hyrule Warriors designs are more favored in the fanbase
5 links (ravio and midna) and 4 zeldas? I can understand 3 of each (including Ganondorf and his various forms) after all DLC. The rest of the roster is good but those duplicates feel like wasted space.
-Midna is fine on her own, whether imp or true form
-ravio is fine, but I'm tired of the Hilda erasure, I'm including her
-Phantom Zelda is unique, get rid of Sheik or TotK Zelda
-no toon link, use the King
-default Link is young is good, then BotW Link can also be used
-get Vaati somewhere in base roster
I think the triforce should be a mechanic rather than a roster designation, it makes sense more canonically for it to be a usable power too.
Smaller roster and then have a selectable triforce act like old melty bloods moons, selecting a triforce would change a characters specials and abilities to fit an overall playstyle.
It’d still be a 2D fighter, 2.5 means that they’ll use the 3D background somewhat, but we’re using 3D models.
Agitha not being here has to be a war crime
Pretty solid roster although I'd add Beedle and Vaati personally
Ok this needs to exist right now.
