Good day. I think you said in one of your videos some time ago not to lay sand on top of aquarium soil. Can you give me reason pls because I did that before I saw that video. And now I see there's like a thick mirky layer at the bottom of tank. Do you think it's the cause layer of sand over aquarium soil ?

A sand layer on soil when it is just that, a layer comprised of something like potting soil, compost and peat mixture, is fine. In fact it is essential to keep the soil from going into the water column. This is mostly referred to as a dirted or Walstad tank. However, Aquasoil (those little balls) is treated in such a way as to keep its shape so that it doesn't get loose in the water column and it also interacts with the water chemistry, often softening it. Therfore aquasoil should not be capped with sand to get the most out of it. If you did, it will do no harm, it is just not optimal. If you have soil on the bottom (dirt like the Americans say) and there is a murky layer on top, then your sand layer is not thick enough. Should be around 5cm. If you have AQUASOIL on the bottom, then I am not sure. Just siphon it off, give it time and see what happens.
