Sony goes more in depth on Dualsense Edge features: th-cam.com/video/UvmmWeov68s/w-d-xo.html
I haven't watched anyone else's video on this matter yet, so if I stepped on someone else's toes that's my bad!
Let me know what you guys think of the info Sony dropped on their new pro controller. I obviously plan on buying, reviewing, and comparing it to other Controllers that are available. Everything seems nice on paper, but I'm personally worried about its price. I suppose we'll see!

I thought the same about the replaceable sticks before watching this video... Crazy how they continue to do everything to NOT fix the drift problem, so that they can continue to sell more controllers (and in this case more replacement sticks) by making them last fuck all. Now, of course this is under the assumption that the analog sticks used in those modules are the same garbage all their other controllers use.
I really hope Microsoft care to fix it directly on their future controllers, but wouldn't surprise me if they did the same.

Actually charging tech on computers and phones has gotten more sophisticated. To the point where you can safely leave your device connected and it will know depending on use patterns and energy needs if it should charge or not.
For the controller it might be a bit different. I have the elite 2 and it comes with a foldable soft piece of cloth on top of the dock, so if you need to charge you move the cloth away, if you don’t need it you leave it on top of the connectors so that there’s no contact between controller and charger.
However, from the many unboxing videos I have seen, nearly everyone peels off the cloth wrongly thinking it shouldn’t be there…

Plus a lot of people still believe in the battery having “memory”. Nickel based batteries had this issue where if you charged it before it died you’d train the batter that your 30% was the new 0%. Lithium based batteries actually benefit from proper charging/staying at a fuller charge.
The real catch is not the lithium but wireless charging itself. Wireless charging creates more heat in the battery which damages how long it lasts.
Lol also not arguing with you just agreeing and adding to it bc I’m bored and procrastinating from real life responsibilities.

GuliKit may be planning a magnetic module for this controller, so if an when that ever releases this controller might actually be decent.
Though, I have to wonder what the overall quality will be like. I also wonder how the trigger stops will work with the haptic triggers, and why they're not just using variable haptics to emulate trigger stops. The back buttons on this are also super weird on first glance, they just don't look reachable; I wonder if the levers are actually inversed, rather than a pull motion they require a push motion, a finger could almost rest between the grip and the lever based on the render, I wonder if they're experimenting with a flick actuation to avoid accidental grip inputs.
At the end of the day it's just more of the same, with currently unknown quality, and a new style of back button whether that's just paddle design or actuation direction. Nothing special, it'll be overpriced, etc.
I wonder how price will compare to DIY kits. Like what eXtremeRate provides, though XR also provides kits with more functionality, like the four back button kit, plus they have a clicky button kit. Or whoever it is that provides the trigger stop shells that some of the custom controller companies use. With the costs of 'pro' controllers, I wouldn't be surprised if the DIY market sees a lot of business this generation.

@@ArtietheArchon You have fairly low reading comprehension, don't you? Same with logical thought as well? Figure out that this was, like most comments under the video, posted half a year ago, long before anyone knew details about the controller and less so about third party offerings for the swappable sticks; such as how Sony was going to be doing the triggers, adjustable trigger stops with hall sensors makes sense yet Sony historically only used a variable carbon strip resistor up until this controller, thus the relevant portion of their comment. Also GuliKit isn't the most reliable of companies when it comes to what they say they're doing, just look at how long it took them to make a JoyCon module after hyping it up for so long, a fairly trivial task if you understood how these sensors work. Hall effect sticks are mostly hype anyways and won't last all that long, the sensors themselves have a quiescent period of low voltage drift that typically ends after 1000 hours of use and becomes a runaway issue with further use, it's just how the technology is and there's no way around this; which is an issue considering sensor implementation with sticks, as you're constantly within the sense range with a centering voltage, it just will not work long term, whereas triggers with their implementation are fine considering issues will never realistically be noticed. Not to mention other issues when it comes to these sticks as a module for a product not originally intended to use them.

V Cuda can you tell your requirements for a four paddle controller or two?, so I can send you one of mine to review because scuf and Sony are well overpriced, the most a controller should cost with all the trimmings is 220 max, 250 with shipping near anywhere

    1) It depends on how solid and tight the thumbstick module docking will be too. If the module won't be completely secure in the dock and it is going to wiggle after some time/swaps, then there is no point, and you might as well replace the whole controller or mod it or whatever.
    2) Two back buttons aren't much these days, but as first party controller maker, Sony can do one thing, that others cannot. They could make it another pair of addressable buttons, like L4&R4 instead of just let you assign other buttons to it.

Sony: "Because there is a semiconductor crisis we cannot get parts to sell many controllers. But we can still get shit thumbsticks, so we will make them swappable so we can continue to make a f ton of money on selling bad products"
