Hey there! Good to hear from you! I hope Texas is treating you well. Life is good here, but the shop isn't quite as fun as when you were around. Take care!
Had a 1971 Transporter single cab, last year VW was able to bring them in, US put a tariff on foreign trucks, the "Chicken Tax" dispute. Bought it new and put 100,000 mi on it. Bought one engine from Sears remanufactured by Southern Volks, when that started smoking a guy in Sunnyvale installed rebuilt heads and swapped the pistons and cylinders with some decent used ones he had. When it started smoking again I traded it in. You're right about the tires, found some Zenith (I think) 8 ply at Tire Warehouse in San Jose for a reasonable price. Drove it from Canada to Mexico, towed my Dad's teardrop trailer to Mexico. Had a camper shell built to cover the bed. Was supposed to have the tarpaulin but dealer sold it and gave me $150 credit. When I tried to order one, they wanted $500 or more (can't remember).
I hate the Chicken Tax- what a load of crap it is. I would have never though Sears would be in the engine business (even if they sold on behalf of others)
Well done Eric we pushed you and Sir you delivered! Hope you don't have anymore budget blowouts. Looking forward to the next video
I've been working on editing a brake video, brake line video, and e-brake video. Lots of editing, but the videos are filmed.
Looks like things are progressing well at Farpoint VW Werks !
You may have noticed some new arrivals down by the lower barn. Stay tuned!
@@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs I will ! This should be interesting!
There is NO WAY you randomly showed up on my youtube recommended. It's Ronnie Booker, how have things been?!
