    I consider the next Rambo movie one of the best . Stallone made it based on real world events specifically to bring attention to the civil war that has been going on in that country that most didnt know existed . One of the most insane things about the next Rambo is that the guy playing the villain had his whole family killed by the exact character he is playing in the movie in real life ..... Keep that in mind when you watch it and it is pretty mind blowing he was able to do that .

    Coincidentally (or not), the USSR pulled out of Afghanistan about a week before Rambo III came out. Of the original three movies I'd probably rank this one third but it's still a very good action movie, and I love that we finally get Rambo and Trautman teaming up. And Stallone gets to show off his humorous side as Rambo a bit more more with some funny lines, like in First Blood when he tells the guy to keep his eyes on the road, "That's how accidents happen!"

    Most of Rambo III was shot in Israel. Several of the minor characters, including in the sheep game sequence, are actually Afghans.
    Sasson Gabay (playing the guide Mousa Ghanee) was also in "Not Without My Daughter" starring Sally Field.
    Marc de Jonge (playing Russian Col. Zaysen) was actually French.
    Spyros Focas (playing the Afghan spokesperson Masoud) is actually Greek.

      And we were, in fact, supplying Stinger antiaircraft missiles to the "rebels."
      By this time this film was ready to be released, the Soviets had given up and were withdrawing. From what I've read, they were so afraid of the negative publicity from this film that they actually sped up the withdrawal process so that by the time of the Premiere they could say they were "effectively out" (and therefore the content of the film was no longer relevant).

    • @ConstantineFurman
      @ConstantineFurman ปีที่แล้ว

    A great third instalment to the series, even better than the second in some ways.
    Two things that didn't age real well are the dedication at the end and Trautman saying "They'd rather DIE, than be slaves to an invading army. You can't defeat a people like that. We tried! We already had our Vietnam! Now you're gonna have yours". 👀

    The wound treatment he did with the bullet served 2 purposes. First the burning sealed or carterized it also the powder contained sulfur that acts as an antibiotic with the flash killing any germs already present. A hospital trip would be better as deep burns risk both infection and dehydration but not as fast as bleeding to death or a wound turning septic at once. It is a field treatment to buy a few days for better care or to remain in the fight longer.

    Some see the mindless violence and Action, some watch for effects and acting, while others see the significance of the story... This movie had something for everyone.

    The movie wasn't as successful as the prior ones because by the time it came out, the Russians were already leaving Afghanistan. The Afghan scenes were filmed in Israel until production problems caused the production to move to Arizona. Stallone was almost decapitated during filming when one of the helicopters rotor blade came too close. Rambo's horse is the same horse used by Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade. The Russians were played by US Marines. Rambo's knives keep getting bigger with each film, in this one it's almost the size of a machete.

    The helicopter featured heavily in this movie is the Mi24 'Hind', an absolutely terrifying machine. It's almost totally invulnerable to rifles and grenades, and it's weapon systems are devastating. The Mujahideen needed Western anti-air weapons and training because they were getting slaughtered by the Russians. On the ground, the Mujahideen did plenty of their own slaughtering, but against the Hind they had no choice but run or hide.

It’s about how one congressman (played by Tom Hanks) was nearly single-handedly responsible for turning a token $5 million dollar commitment to arming and training Afghan fighters into a several billion $ effort that eventually led to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It’s written by Aaron Sorkin so it has his trademark witty dialogue and Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s character is one of the all-time greats.

    1:46. You're referring to Kurtwood Smith, who also played Clarence Boddicker with panache in Robocop.
    4:12 John Rambo had two sides two him that developed over time and that now he must reconcile. One half of him is the combat machine that was built in Viet Nam, and the other half developed out of necessity, first in Hope, Washington and now here in Thailand. In Thailand, of course, he thought he could leave forever behind him the combat machine that he'd become, but when Trautman is taken prisoner by Zaisin in Afghanistan, he realises the truth of Trautman's words, that the soldier was always there and just needed to be fine tuned, but he also realises that he must find a way to live with both halves of himself, which he learns to do in Burma and later, finally, back home in Arizona.
    6:19 Chem-lights, also known as Cyalumes. There are varying colours in which they come, and they're primarily for military use, and they even come in infrared for use with night-vision devices.

    I thought it was really cool that Colonel Trautman got the opportunity to fight in this one as well. He's a Green Beret as well, just an officer instead of enlisted like Rambo.

      @@ConstantineFurman he wasn't lying either. That war was hell on both sides. Many of the soldiers that returned to Russia faced a lot of hardships, especially after the collapse of the soviet union. Lot of them were stripped of their ranks and dishonorable discharged since many put missions at risk to save civilians from the crossfire.

      It might be my memory playing tricks. But I'm sure the original line from Trautman was "they're the Taliban a group of freedom fighters" I'm assuming they edited that part out post 9/11 !! Either way yes those fighting the Russians are the Taliban

    I can't watch Rambo now without thinking of Obi-Wan-Nairobi (Christian Craigshead). He was an SAS soldier who said he grew up watching Rambo and would run around in the woods with a knife pretending to be Rambo. Joined army at 16 and retired in his 50's after being in the SAS for around 20 years. He went into a hotel on his own to stop a terrorist attack in Nairobi, hence the nickname. He got his Rambo moment. Saved a lot of people that day. Lives in the US now and seems like such a quiet humble guy.

    Don't worry about the subtitles, even on the original release these movies don't have subtitles for the russians of afganistan people, that was the intention. To make you feel that you are in a foreign land and you dont understand the language, and need an interpreter to have a conversation with another person. Thats the reason why they don't have subtitles.

    • @ConstantineFurman
      @ConstantineFurman ปีที่แล้ว

      The theatrical prints did have subs. But they wound up being removed for home video and it's a crapshoot on if you get the subs on your DVD/blu-ray (mine have English subs cause they're mastered from theatrical prints).

    ALL the Rambo movies are great I personally think the 4th one is by far the most impactful !!! Why ??? Because it is absolutely as REAL as I've ever seen as a war situation !!!! It will take your bloody breath away !!!!! So very intense !!!!!! You have to mentally prepare yourself for that one !!!!!!! Last blood might be right on the same level as the 4th just called "Rambo" !!! They're are all good just like the Rocky Franchise !!!! PS . I just want to say without going over any lines I think the deep red gives you a certain sex appeal !!! Just my opinion !!! I'm a red head so I'm biased !!!! You look great !!!!!
