I like the sensitivity changes to the keys, the sounds are very nice, the only thing I don't like is the noise of the "realistic foot pedal" but you can turn that off in the settings... I don't really look to customizing sounds like other people that prefer thier own specific voicings ... Hello, I am Korean and I am writing because I cannot understand what is in the video.
      I just want to ask you a few questions. Can you answer them?
      1. According to another px-s1000 reviewer, the length of the keyboard is about 2mm shorter than the analog piano, so it's a little annoying when he plays. Is there such a thing in the video?
      2. I wonder if the keyboard sizes of px-s1000 and 3000 are the same.
      3. When video reviewer Chuck plays the piano, I wonder if you feel uncomfortable or awkward with your hands because this product and analog piano have different keyboard sizes.
      (I know that this Cassio series is a very compact model. Especially 1000.)
      4. Is there a difference in piano sound between the two products in the video? (normal and mellow piano sound )
      Thank you . .!

    I looked at the specs on your website but didn't see something the Yamaha's have, now - MIDI and Digital Audio over one USB. I found this would be really helpful to eliminate an audio interface - does the PX-S3000 have this?

      No Midi over Bluetooth.

      The PX-S 3000 has usb midi, line in, line out or Bluetooth for audio, so that you can connect your phone to play songs through the piano.

      The 'issue' only exists with James Shawcross. When the unit is turned on and running, the firmware's "Smart, scaled hammer action" makes up for any weight differences while you play. There's only a 'problem' when the unit is turned off and trying to compare apples with oranges (acoustic pianos with keysticks multiple times the length of a digital piano's keys) with weights.

    • @PianoManChuck
      @PianoManChuck  4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      This is something that James Shawcross started with the black keys to get his viewer count up. Originally he praised the keys as he played difficult classical passages on it... then took a 180 on it figuring he'd get more viewers. He deletes any comments on his videos that don't agree with what he says. In reality, you cannot compare keys on a keyboard with that of an acoustic piano in that they're not wood, they're not over a foot in length, etc... unless you play a Kawai digital piano which is around $3k. Rest assured the PX-S1000 / 3000 is an awesome piano that anyone who's tried falls in love with. The keyboard player for the rock band Kansas uses this, as does many other popular pianists / keyboardists.

      Casio's SP34 (3-pedal) for these units are proprietary, so no - you cannot use a 3rd party 3-pedal unit. It sells for $99.99 everywhere - you don't need to buy it "where you live" since you can mail order it from just about anywhere. If you want just a single pedal to do sustain with, it comes with a cheap one... otherwise you can buy a universal sustain pedal from just about anywhere.

    Is kawai vpc action better or not ?

    • @TMartialarts1
      @TMartialarts1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whether it's better or not is slightly subjective. The VPC1 by Kawai has wooden keys, weighted and it's probably the closest keybed to an acoustic piano. The pivot points are quite large so you can play from any point in the key without much effort. However the keys are heavy and they tire your hands way faster and it doesn't have speakers or any settings/sounds. It's just a keybed you connect to a computer.
      The px-sXXXX series have lighter keys but still weighted, ivory touch imitation (which gives a nice grip), speakers, 700 sounds (with very good quality), it's very light(25 lbs approx) however the key pivot point is slightly short, which means the keys get heavier as you get closer to the board. That's sucks a little bit for repertoire like Moonlight Sonata mov.3 in which a lot of arpeggios are done very close to the board, but it's a small sacrifice for the quality of instrument you get for such a low price.
      The purpose of each keyboard is very different, if you want something like the VPC1 but with build-in speakers and sound, more built for home/recreational purposes, I would suggest the Kawai KDP-110. If you want an instrument which you'll use for gigging and for producing music, then the Px-s3000 would be a better choice.

    • @RA-el6zj
      @RA-el6zj 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the vpc action is better.

  • @kokopelli314
    @kokopelli314 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I ended up purchasing the s3000 mostly for rehearsals. Of course a light weight instrument and graded hammer action are big factors for for me.
    The grand piano is OK but IMO yamaha samples of Pianos, EPs and Organs are necessary for a realistic performance of covers.
    Still though with the onboard sound and so many presets it's a good instrument for songwriting and more intimate venues.

    Hi Chuck do you think the PX3000 is better than the PX5s? And is Casio likely to replace the PX5s this year with PX3000 technology?

    • @matthewgaines10
      @matthewgaines10 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course the PX-3000 isn't better than the PX-5. But it may be better for your needs. Without stating what you want or need, does it matter which is better? What is better and what is best for you are two different things. The function set of the PX-5 far exceeds the PX-3000. It isn't even close. The PX-5 has 4 appegiators, The PX-5 has deeper DSP. The PX-5 has a synthesizer. The PX-5 has more customization. One isn't a replacement for the other. Is an F-150 pickup truck better than a mustang? It depends on whether you want a truck or a performance vehicle.
      Chuck has no access to what is going to be replaced when. Those who know, won't tell. Those who would tell, don't know. Anything he could say is just as speculative as what you or I would say.

    • @mikeradcliffe6847
      @mikeradcliffe6847 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matthew Gaines why ‘of course it’s not better’? How would someone who has never tried the PX3000 know this? I used to work for Casio and their product launches would often be random and invariably they would release a new lower priced keyboard that would have a much better sound than the previous high end model. I suspect this has happened with the PX3000 and the PX5S. With regard to the question about a PX5S replacement I was simply asking Chuck’s opinion.

  • @vccranker
    @vccranker 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't mean to be negative, but ya spend considerable money and then have to follow a road map of sorts whenever you need to change something like velocity. This on top of learning new piano playing skills! Thing that gets me even more is hearing that although you can record with the PX-S1000, the files are not accessible externally, via USB or SD Card for example. it is one thing when a manufacturer has a better keybed for a higher price, but to limit features on one model seems to be punishing the customer one way or another, sort of the opposite of a win-win. Almost an extortion tactic of sorts. lol

    • @PianoManChuck

      As a reseller I think you'll find this interesting: I get many inquiries from people who just want a keyboard for playing piano only! They don't want to spend an extra dime on things like being able to record or pitch bend or having hundreds of worthless sounds - all they want is piano with an excellent key action and great sound - nothing else! They feel taken advantage of by manufacturers because they don't want to pay more for "features" that they'll never use and never wanted to begin with.

    Chiming in a bit late, but the price difference between the 1000 and 3000 in Europe is a lot bigger. The PX-S1000 costs 545 euro (roughly 600 dollar US), the PX-S3000 is 899 euro (roughly 990 dollar US)... That's a difference of almost 400 US dollar. I'm guessing the PX-S1000 might be more popular over here, even though it hasn't got a display and you're more or less flying blind when selecting sounds or effects (which is better on the cheaper CDP-S100 because it's marked on the 'fallboard'...). I'm looking for a portable back-up to my MP11SE to play at my girlfriend's appartment and to do some small, intimate gigs from time to time, and I'm considering the Kawai ES110, PX-S1000 (and also the CDP-S100) and the Korg D1. Been trying out every model in a store, and although I like the Casio action a lot, the more I play the PX-S1000, the less I like it ; somehow the shiny casing and the touch controls don't agree with me. The CDP-S100 is dirt cheap but also rather limited. So I guess it's between the ES110 and the D1 (plus a pair of Roland CM30's or a KC220 I think, good for both home and gigging use) In any case, love the channel, keep up the good work !

    Great video! How does the 3000’s acoustic piano sound compared to the older px-330?
