- The making of a Damascus steel gyuto chef knife from start to finish. Cutting the grooves took a while but the resulting pattern was worth it. Thanks for watching!

@@lewgriffinknives216 You're welcome
Wow man, that is an absolute work of art. Gorgeous! Your work always looks great but this one might be on another level.
Thanks for watching 🙏 I like how it turned out also!
Beautiful
I LOVE when people ACTUALLY make the knives/blades rather than taking some metal, tracing an outline of a blade, then cutting it out. You get to see their entire craft on display. So for that, thank you!❤
Thanks for watching. Yes there's more control over the steel when forging the shape and much less cutting!
And no stupid music in background , only machine sound and hammer
@@petar_mrkonjicthank God lol
very beautiful knife!
Super Video echt tolle Arbeit frage was für einen Kleber nehmen sie für den Griff
It was boat building epoxy resin
Мастер,не знаю как тебя зову и из какой ты страны,но это просто шедевр!!!Ты реально МАСТЕР!!!В полном понимании этого слова!!Респект огромнейший!

Lew you absolutly killed it i love everthing about that knife i just finished a couple twisted damascus hunting knives i cant wait to get to your level 1 day happy new year Mark😃👍👍✌
Awesome happy new year
Hello. Good day to you. You did a great job. What liquid did you use in the tube to make the blade emboss the pattern? Is that engine oil/Lubricant? Thank you
Thanks it's diesel
where did you buy your power hammer and press?
A truly remarkable piece, an exquisite knife. I love the grind as much as the pattern.
Yeah, but can you make one out of mithril? Huh? HUH?! Yeah I thought not. Amateur.
Have attempted but was chased by a balrog. Maybe someday
Absolutely Beautiful knife
The crusty part of the blade is visually interesting but there could be food safety issues. I prefer the more subtle pre-coffee pattern... superb knife.
Братишка я повар судовой кок хочу точно такой нож копию этого как могу такой нож купить я сейчас в Голландии

Another amazing knife. Glad my fiancée managed to snag one for me from your site. Keep them coming!
Great to hear one reached your kitchen!
Wonderful, i recommend to do C grind , it's most efficient technically
Thanks. I prefer s-grind for balance but might give it a try
I love it when a knife was hammered into shape like this. getting real tired when the knife makers just cut the metal into knife shape.
Frikun.amazing work!!! Phenomenal job hey
Thanks for watching!
11:01 the knife need coffee a lot
Do you have any videos where you have some voice over sections? I have many questions about some of the things that you do and some of the things that you use 😅
No but maybe I will add something like that on patreon
@@lewgriffinknives216 I would definitely be interested in that!
lovely work Lew.
Thank you! Cheers!
make a karambit please
Bad ass,great work
These sound.. Ohhhh. Great work. Awesome
Thanks much appreciated
What is the purpose of beating on the blade after annealing? Isn't the point of annealing to realign the grain structure after forging? Curious.
To remove forge scale quickly, the annealing makes the steel soft so it's not damaged. Normalizing just above quenching temperature before hardening keeps the blade straight from any stress caused by hammering
Thank you for the answer! Masterful job on this blade! It is stunning!
Brutal master 👏
Hey, Lew, can you make another one after lunch please
Coming right up
👍
Cant you add in your videos what stuff you are using?
In the video description there's some info
Очень достойный уровень. Нож получился очень красивый. Видна рука мастера.

That is stunning, I'll have a whole set for the kitchen pls😀👍 love the handle shape

Nice work. I’m not very OCD but at the same time that broken fire brick would annoy the crap out of me.
Every time I replace it breaks within a few days!
Beautiful Knife, Amazing work here 👍
Great work sir. Could u tell me in what solution you are dipping the bar in?
An acid called gator piss
@@lewgriffinknives216 i mean when you are forging the billet. I see the billet going in some solution before going in to the press.

I could do this if I had all the equipment
Good for you.

Beautiful work!
Exceptional! Beautifully done. Thank you.
Many thanks!
Beautiful blade. Superb craftsmanship. This is why is subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
@@lewgriffinknives216 you’re welcome!
that was amazing! congrats for that excellent work!
Thanks a lot!
Oh my god. You actually forged a knife beginning to end and it came out amazing. Everyone else on TH-cam just grinds a knife shape out of a straight, flat piece of metal and they call it “making a knife” once they put a handle on it. Nice job, your talent is very evident.
Thanks much appreciated. Also thanks for watching more videos on the way!
Yeah it's called stock removal and it's just generally faster and easier, more consistent, and for some types of Damascus also necessary.
@@anthonymullings8539 I’m aware of that

Dude did you make your press off of plans? I have a big chunk of I beam I’m wanting to make a press out of.. I’m currently using a log splitter converter to a press, and it’s alright but I need more rigidity
Followed some plans found online but changed most of the measurements to fit what I had. Takes some time to get it welded up but definitely worth it, best of luck with it!
Work of art
Tempering?
Yes off camera

Absolutely beautiful! What I wouldn't do to have something like that in my knife bag. Been a cook for 30 years now. I have some ok knives, but nothing like that ! Live it !
That’s a dirty little birdy wizard
Absolutely beautiful... Art at it's finest.

@lewgriffinknives216 not that I don't believe you, but, what does it do?
That’s the most beautiful knife I have ever seen. I’m a chef and I would love to work with that beauty. ❤
That spinning whetstone is rad.
