i saged my tarot cards then placed a quartz crystal on it. then i blessed it w cinnamon incense cuz it increases psychic powers. i asked it to reveal itself to me and flipped the cards over and blesssed them w the incense. as i went thru some of the cards began to resonate w me. i took that at her telling me who she was. she's eccentric and a free spirit. but she is caring a nuturing ike a mother. she is vain and values her beauty. she is a goddess bc she says she is so she's hella confident. which is good and makes me trust her.
I got my Rider deck today. I had 2 others I was working with previously and I didn’t feel the same way as I did when I opened this deck. I unwrapped the plastic from around the cards and I wanted to cry. Like, I feel so emotional and like I cannot love it enough. If I could, I’d make love to it. Lol. It’s so unreal how your body and spirit react to new decks. I’ve had goosebumps for the past 10 mins, and that’s the same “electric” feeling I get when I see my intentions and manifestations coming to fruition. I’m literally in love and feeling so connected right now!! 😍🥰😍🥰
I've been reading tarot for over 40 years. Both my mother and grandmother did and my daughter does. I don't use incense or crystals or clean my cards with a cloth when I get a new deck, I just handle them to put something of myself into them. There are NO rules about handling or reading Tarot, or which deck is the best. If I were a beginner I'd use the Thoth Tarot deck, simply because every card(including the minor arcana) has it's meaning written on it. It makes it easier to interpret and learn.

I relate to tarot decks being cheeky or rude! I get sarcastic answers more often than not; if I ask why I'm going through change they'll give me the death card. And I get rude answers too! For example, I couldn't understand the knight of pentacles in the question that I was reading for so I pulled from another deck and got the knight of pentacles too haha
Just broke in my new deck that was gifted to me from my friend who also reads. the first personal reading made perfect sense so I just kept going more specific and my cards started giving me a pep talk like success is on ur way girl! Never mind ur final outcome goes down hill 😂 it’s done this to me twice. I’m thinking wtf goes wrong cards?!
I experienced my deck being not really cheeky but... I suppose a bit playful for the first time today. As I flipped over the cards they were all reversed and I had to really laugh. Some were intentionally reversed and others had a "you already know the answer to this who you trying to fool" vibe. "You already know this. Stop playing. You're good. You literally just got a reading online from someone else, I was here and saw you. Just keep doing what you're doing you're fine." was the message I got like okay thanks for the reassurance ahahaha sorry for asking when I already know 😂😂😂
Im new to doing tarot reading. When I received my first tarot deck I felt a good energy coming off of it. I felt drawn to it. Is that how your supposed to feel a pull towards your tarot cards.
adiegiese23 yes. That what you need to feel. If you have a positive draw to the cards, go for them. I came across a couple of decks online and I looked at their images and I immediately knew that these were my cards. I use them all the time now because of that initial draw.
I just got my cards yesterday and they were attached to me all day. I kept putting them in the box and taking them back out. Lol I’m just like drawn to them
I totally agree with you and understand you clearly. If you don't tune in with your deck then you're just reading the cards and you don't feel the cards and they don't feel you. Therefore you're not able to give a real accurate reading and there's no true meaning behind it it's just reading it like a real rookie and the rookie should read them over and over until the cars feel that person and until they feel the card before they practice on other people and waste their time and possibly money if they're charging. They really shouldn't charge until that happens. I would suggest do it on oneself because we're the only ones that really know what's going on in our life and to see if the card will pick up on your own situation. And only then will you know if you're tuning in with the cards and they're tuning in with you.
omg I know what you mean about your decks energy having a personality of its own, I didn't know it was a thing, but one of the decks that I have, it feels like when I'm doing readings tries to be so philosophical, and they know that trips me up sometimes. I prefer more direct answers, and when I get pissy because I don't understand they get pissy back or quiet.

Thank you so much for this. I had a covdn that never really taught me how to get connected with my decks. It was pretty much just burn some sage and lavender. Now I have a real good idea that it is truly the intent you put into the cards. It is August 2020 right now, and I just got some awesome new cards I am super excited to welcome them home!

Rider Waite is definitely the best learning deck! The images are so much better than most other decks at explaining meanings and different sides to those meanings. I started backwards with another tarot and it took me blood sweat and tears to get to know it just a little - Rider Wait I am ZIPPING through learning because the visuals speak so clearly.

I was drawn to this for my first deck too and I love it! I think it helped me to develop my intuition because it has lots of symbolism but not as much or as obvious as on the Rider Waite. I did buy a RW deck afterwards to compare them and for when I was learning through watching TH-cam videos.
My grandma was REALLY into Tarot when I was growing up, like she had to get a new deck because I touched one of them when I was growing up she took it super seriously. My friend Friar swears by it too. A few years ago in 2018 I acquired my recently deceased aunt Rosemary's vintage 1971 Rider Tarot deck from her son when he moved out of my trailer cause he said he didn't want it. He actually gave it to me almost a year before she died the next year in 2019. I had all 78 (80) cards and I have the original little booklet Manuel but I hung the title cards/major cards bordering the top of my trailer walls to charge them with my own energy and I lost The Hanged Man but I redrew it and colored it almost spot on and glued it to one of the 2 index/joker cards I had. The average person won't even notice and the card is recreated from one of the same deck's 2 index/joker cards and because I redrew the image myself it's imbued with even more of my energy now. I was sitting by my still unused deck in the kitchen tonight after restoring The Hanged Man, basically meditating on my preparation to break it in and make it officially mine finally, and I shit you not I had Bob's Burgers on in the other room and Linda legit says "You're into Tarot cards and stuff like that right?" I practically screamed hahaha, like GTFOH!! AND, to boot it happened at 11:11 (22, -very- personal meaning to me especially on clocks.) I haven't even actually used the deck yet but weird shit is happening. My roommate actually has Sage and Bay Leaves and I had various crystals, incents and candles. I'm all set, if I can stay awake. Something drained my energy earlier while I was redrawing The Hanged Man first I felt full of energy then weird and like something or somebody was reaching through me and now I've been tired as hell since. That card, or my dead aunt, definitely got some of my energy, like a lot of it. LOL jeez. Fair exchange I guess and I'll take the Bob's Burgers Tarot coincidence as a sign that I've followed my feelings in the right direction and I'm synced up with my fate and basically on the right track atm. I even have a gnarly witching wand I found myself in the woods and instead of a crystal ball I've got a shiny little black baseball sized ball of Obsidian. I should make a little wheel cart with a window and little curtains, like a little outhouse I can pull behind me downtown on foot. I can paint it all cool and be like a pop up live action Zoltar lol.
you're so inspirational jess! i've been in this community actively practicing only for a shirt while and it is truly a journey. it can be hard sometimes because sometimes i don't feel like enough and sometimes i do make mistakes but that's why i look to fix them and learn! i know i can only grow stronger and be better but that will take time. i love my main deck(pagan otherworlds) and we do get along well, he's a harsh, straightforward slap on the back kind of friend but it's something i really need so i thank him

You make some good points in this video about building a strong relationships with your decks. As a Reader I do have multiple decks but there are only about 4 that I use regularly for clients. I have built a strong relationship with them and I trust how Spirit works through them as a tool for accurate readings. I was always weary of readers that every week was purchasing new decks and giving readings with them. Their readings seemed shallow because they were getting information from a deck they didn’t know (just like his when we first meet a person the conversation is formal and surfaced until we get to know that person better). Regarding your deck being cheeky and rude, that hits me so true. I always know that a new divination set and I are starting to warm up together when they start to sass me. This has happened with rune sets I have, tarot, oracle decks, and the sortilage or bone casting set that I've collected together. I always know that that system and are working well together when it sasses me. Like my bones told me Nourishment and Present Time and Self when I was having dinner once. Or the runes told me Mouth and Ice when I needed to literally freeze my mouth, and shut up. I completely understand your deck being cheeky or rude. Or your deck Reading you. That's kind of funny actually. It's hilarious to go to get a tarot reading and you get Read. 😜 And I agree with you about sage. For me sage doesn't "cleanse" per se. It neutralises energies, to allow you to put your own in. Then you can add protection over the top of that, or sanctify, or whatever you are planning on doing.

I got myself a new tarot deck for Christmas...its the Smith-Waite deck and I'm sooo excited omg!! I love love love the coloring and artwork and it's the first traditional tarot deck I've ever owned. I grew up around Tarot but it was my brother's Rider-Waite deck and until recently (this year 2020) I fell out of Tarot sadly...due to years of things that kept me FULLY distracted from who I truly am. This deck is calling to me...I literally can't wait to touch the cards and unlike my other decks I'm resonating with it already...it is the one deck I understand and I know it's got sooo much to tell me 🔮🌠 Thanks for the informational video 🥰 When I first started getting back into Tarot and Oracle I ordered 3 decks...Osho Zen Tarot deck, Energy Oracle Cards and Moonology...now Ive got the Smith-Waite and waiting until Christmas is very exciting...just cannot wait to hold it lol 😊
So when we get a deck that's new to us, should we be going through and writing down our reactions and feelings towards EVERY card, or just the ones that jump out at us when we go through the deck? I know you said "write down for each of the cards that makes you feel something", but I just want to clarify that it doesn't have to be for EVERY card? I'm going through the major arcana at the moment and I have certain feelings towards all the cards I've done (so far), though I'm not sure if I'm going to have as strong reactions to some of the minor arcana cards

The interesting thing is I found this deck on amazon and placed it on my wish list 2 years ago, but while I was out at Barnes&Noble with my grandmom I saw the deck and got super excited and she bought it for me. The Wild Unkown Animal Spirit Deck and Guide Book. Could I just cleanse them with palo santo or would you recommend sage just because it was in a library?
I just got my first deck! Its the Spiral Tarot and i swear when I first saw it it said Spiritual Tarot. I did an interview spread with her and she showed me shes very romantic, emotional, intuitive, feminine, and sensitive. She very much hits my heart chakra which has been blocked for months now... Right now, i have her charging under sodalite, rose quartz, apatite, selenite, and clear quartz, along with lavender incense. I'm so excited 💓 I have a Celtic deck from my mother but we havent really connected and I need to cleanse it with sage until i feel comfortable using it. But this is my first own new deck 😊💕

i’ve had the animal totem deck for a few years but now i’m trying to really get serious and learn tarot so i got the rider waite and it just came in today and absolutely punched me in the gut with energy. i’m super excited to have a relationship with it and learn from it
I would def agree that the tarot has an attitude. As does my guides and Angels. My kids were testing my patience yesterday and I was at my Whitt’s end. So I snapped at them and as I did and was getting more irritated. A glass jar of Lavender buds I have on my work desk was pushed off. I took it as a sign to calm down and collect myself. But yes I don’t use a tarot deck unless I connect with it and it has to be a strong connection. The rider Waite so far is the only one I work with.
My oracle cards are rude and cheeky....and quite literal with the answers with an uncanny sense of humor....basically me in a deck of cards...i love it!!
My first deck isn’t the Rider Waite, but I was called to this beautiful nouveau style. I’m actually very happy that it’s my first, and I’m thrilled to be working with it. The overall feeling is positive. That said, I’ll be getting the OG Rider Waite deck at some point. So far that’s the advice I keep hearing from seasoned tarot readers.

thank you so much for making this video! I’m relatively new to tarot and I’m really delving into my spirituality and I really want to do things right and start off on a good foot with the deck I just got! I decided not to go with rider waite for my first one even though I know it pretty well, I gravitated toward the fountain deck as soon as I saw it and there was no doubt in my (or my friend’s) mind that it was right for me. since it’s not the traditional rider waite, I want to take extra good care of it and really develop a good solid connection and know it well. this video is so helpful for that!!
A friend of mine passed a worn and used deck to me because she felt it needed to move on... I was so surprised how easy it did connect with me and yes. They do tend to be cheeky! I studied 2 different decks and I found that they won't carry the same meaning. Its interesting how you cant always go by the book

Before I got my first tarot deck I made sure to do my research which I don’t remember who it was but they recommended me the rider Waite tarot deck and when I got the deck I didn’t know that I was supposed to cleanse the deck so whenever I tried to do a reading it would just be sooooo off and then when I found out that you have to cleanse I was so relieved that it wasn’t the tarot deck just rejecting so it is very important to cleanse your deck or literally anything that you’re using.

The idea of inanimate objects having a spirit or "life of their own" is not too weird or uncommon at all, think The Velveteen Rabbit, or Japanese Tsukumogami or Yokai even. I am sure there are numerous other examples when we think about it. 😊 The Empress, pregnant...Perhaps you are about to give birth to a new project, spiritually or idea, something along that line? My mother used to use that metaphor in some spiritual situations. More long the lines that she sensed it spiritually. Super sweet candid moment with your journal. I seriously need to be more faithful in my journaling. So, that was great encouragement for me. I love your energy and not for nothing... but I randomly clicked on your video after completing a tarot deck haul and recognized your channel name from Etsy!! I have not purchased from you yet but I remember your shop and products were the FIRST I was drawn to. Clearly i resonate with your energy...and i use to do a similar technique using a head scarf. I would wear it as a head wrap to absorb my psychic energy throughout the day and then wrap my cards in them periodically before a major reading. Mine is a newer modern twist on it that incorporates more diversity (came out in 2020 btw) in the Rider Waite deck so that’s why I gravitated towards it over the original. Awesome video!

Just broke in my new deck that was gifted to me from my friend who also reads. the first personal reading made perfect sense so I just kept going more specific and my cards started giving me a pep talk like success is on ur way girl! Never mind ur final outcome goes down hill 😂 it’s done this to me twice. I’m thinking wtf goes wrong cards?!
I experienced my deck being not really cheeky but... I suppose a bit playful for the first time today. As I flipped over the cards they were all reversed and I had to really laugh. Some were intentionally reversed and others had a "you already know the answer to this who you trying to fool" vibe. "You already know this. Stop playing. You're good. You literally just got a reading online from someone else, I was here and saw you. Just keep doing what you're doing you're fine." was the message I got like okay thanks for the reassurance ahahaha sorry for asking when I already know 😂😂😂
Im new to doing tarot reading. When I received my first tarot deck I felt a good energy coming off of it. I felt drawn to it. Is that how your supposed to feel a pull towards your tarot cards.
adiegiese23 yes. That what you need to feel. If you have a positive draw to the cards, go for them. I came across a couple of decks online and I looked at their images and I immediately knew that these were my cards. I use them all the time now because of that initial draw.
I just got my cards yesterday and they were attached to me all day. I kept putting them in the box and taking them back out. Lol I’m just like drawn to them
I totally agree with you and understand you clearly. If you don't tune in with your deck then you're just reading the cards and you don't feel the cards and they don't feel you. Therefore you're not able to give a real accurate reading and there's no true meaning behind it it's just reading it like a real rookie and the rookie should read them over and over until the cars feel that person and until they feel the card before they practice on other people and waste their time and possibly money if they're charging. They really shouldn't charge until that happens. I would suggest do it on oneself because we're the only ones that really know what's going on in our life and to see if the card will pick up on your own situation. And only then will you know if you're tuning in with the cards and they're tuning in with you.

omg I know what you mean about your decks energy having a personality of its own, I didn't know it was a thing, but one of the decks that I have, it feels like when I'm doing readings tries to be so philosophical, and they know that trips me up sometimes. I prefer more direct answers, and when I get pissy because I don't understand they get pissy back or quiet.

Thank you so much for this. I had a covdn that never really taught me how to get connected with my decks. It was pretty much just burn some sage and lavender. I got my first deck today I got one called modern witch tarot deck it’s just like the rider Waite but the only difference is it’s all Women on the cards and I feel super drawn to it I’m so excited to start my journey 🥺❤️❤️
Rider Waite is definitely the best learning deck! The images are so much better than most other decks at explaining meanings and different sides to those meanings. I started backwards with another tarot and it took me blood sweat and tears to get to know it just a little - Rider Wait I am ZIPPING through learning because the visuals speak so clearly.

I was drawn to this for my first deck too and I love it! I think it helped me to develop my intuition because it has lots of symbolism but not as much or as obvious as on the Rider Waite. I did buy a RW deck afterwards to compare them and for when I was learning through watching TH-cam videos.

My grandma was REALLY into Tarot when I was growing up, like she had to get a new deck because I touched one of them when I was growing up she took it super seriously. My friend Friar swears by it too.
A few years ago in 2018 I acquired my recently deceased aunt Rosemary's vintage 1971 Rider Tarot deck from her son when he moved out of my trailer cause he said he didn't want it. He actually gave it to me almost a year before she died the next year in 2019. I had all 78 (80) cards and I have the original little booklet Manuel but I hung the title cards/major cards bordering the top of my trailer walls to charge them with my own energy and I lost The Hanged Man but I redrew it and colored it almost spot on and glued it to one of the 2 index/joker cards I had. The average person won't even notice and the card is recreated from one of the same deck's 2 index/joker cards and because I redrew the image myself it's imbued with even more of my energy now.
I was sitting by my still unused deck in the kitchen tonight after restoring The Hanged Man, basically meditating on my preparation to break it in and make it officially mine finally, and I shit you not I had Bob's Burgers on in the other room and Linda legit says "You're into Tarot cards and stuff like that right?" I practically screamed hahaha, like GTFOH!! AND, to boot it happened at 11:11 (22, -very- personal meaning to me especially on clocks.)
I haven't even actually used the deck yet but weird shit is happening. My roommate actually has Sage and Bay Leaves and I had various crystals, incents and candles. I'm all set, if I can stay awake. Something drained my energy earlier while I was redrawing The Hanged Man first I felt full of energy then weird and like something or somebody was reaching through me and now I've been tired as hell since. That card, or my dead aunt, definitely got some of my energy, like a lot of it. LOL jeez. Fair exchange I guess and I'll take the Bob's Burgers Tarot coincidence as a sign that I've followed my feelings in the right direction and I'm synced up with my fate and basically on the right track atm. I even have a gnarly witching wand I found myself in the woods and instead of a crystal ball I've got a shiny little black baseball sized ball of Obsidian.
I should make a little wheel cart with a window and little curtains, like a little outhouse I can pull behind me downtown on foot. I can paint it all cool and be like a pop up live action Zoltar lol.
you're so inspirational jess! i've been in this community actively practicing only for a shirt while and it is truly a journey. it can be hard sometimes because sometimes i don't feel like enough and sometimes i do make mistakes but that's why i look to fix them and learn! i know i can only grow stronger and be better but that will take time. i love my main deck(pagan otherworlds) and we do get along well, he's a harsh, straightforward slap on the back kind of friend but it's something i really need so i thank him

You make some good points in this video about building a strong relationships with your decks. As a Reader I do have multiple decks but there are only about 4 that I use regularly for clients. I have built a strong relationship with them and I trust how Spirit works through them as a tool for accurate readings. I was always weary of readers that every week was purchasing new decks and giving readings with them. Their readings seemed shallow because they were getting information from a deck they didn’t know (just like his when we first meet a person the conversation is formal and surfaced until we get to know that person better). Thanks for sharing!
Regarding your deck being cheeky and rude, that hits me so true. I always know that a new divination set and I are starting to warm up together when they start to sass me. This has happened with rune sets I have, tarot, oracle decks, and the sortilage or bone casting set that I've collected together. I always know that that system and are working well together when it sasses me.
Like my bones told me Nourishment and Present Time and Self when I was having dinner once. Or the runes told me Mouth and Ice when I needed to literally freeze my mouth, and shut up.
I completely understand your deck being cheeky or rude. Or your deck Reading you. That's kind of funny actually. It's hilarious to go to get a tarot reading and you get Read. 😜
And I agree with you about sage. For me sage doesn't "cleanse" per se. It neutralises energies, to allow you to put your own in. Then you can add protection over the top of that, or sanctify, or whatever you are planning on doing.

I got myself a new tarot deck for Christmas...its the Smith-Waite deck and I'm sooo excited omg!! I love love love the coloring and artwork and it's the first traditional tarot deck I've ever owned. I grew up around Tarot but it was my brother's Rider-Waite deck and until recently (this year 2020) I fell out of Tarot sadly...due to years of things that kept me FULLY distracted from who I truly am. This deck is calling to me...I literally can't wait to touch the cards and unlike my other decks I'm resonating with it already...it is the one deck I understand and I know it's got sooo much to tell me 🔮🌠 Thanks for the informational video 🥰 When I first started getting back into Tarot and Oracle I ordered 3 decks...Osho Zen Tarot deck, Energy Oracle Cards and Moonology...now Ive got the Smith-Waite and waiting until Christmas is very exciting...just cannot wait to hold it lol 😊
So when we get a deck that's new to us, should we be going through and writing down our reactions and feelings towards EVERY card, or just the ones that jump out at us when we go through the deck? I know you said "write down for each of the cards that makes you feel something", but I just want to clarify that it doesn't have to be for EVERY card? I'm going through the major arcana at the moment and I have certain feelings towards all the cards I've done (so far), though I'm not sure if I'm going to have as strong reactions to some of the minor arcana cards

I know this video is rather old. I got my first tarot deck yesterday. The interesting thing is I found this deck on amazon and placed it on my wish list 2 years ago, but while I was out at Barnes&Noble with my grandmom I saw the deck and got super excited and she bought it for me. The Wild Unkown Animal Spirit Deck and Guide Book. Could I just cleanse them with palo santo or would you recommend sage just because it was in a library?
She said that she recommends sage, because it completely clears all energy (beings & people) that the deck has come into contact with

I just got my first deck! Its the Spiral Tarot and i swear when I first saw it it said Spiritual Tarot. I did an interview spread with her and she showed me shes very romantic, emotional, intuitive, feminine, and sensitive. She very much hits my heart chakra which has been blocked for months now... Right now, i have her charging under sodalite, rose quartz, apatite, selenite, and clear quartz, along with lavender incense. I'm so excited 💓 I have a Celtic deck from my mother but we havent really connected and I need to cleanse it with sage until i feel comfortable using it. But this is my first own new deck 😊💕

I would def agree that the tarot has an attitude. As does my guides and Angels. My kids were testing my patience yesterday and I was at my Whitt’s end. So I snapped at them and as I did and was getting more irritated. A glass jar of Lavender buds I have on my work desk was pushed off. I took it as a sign to calm down and collect myself. But yes I don’t use a tarot deck unless I connect with it and it has to be a strong connection. The rider Waite so far is the only one I work with.
My oracle cards are rude and cheeky....and quite literal with the answers with an uncanny sense of humor....basically me in a deck of cards...i love it!!

My first deck isn’t the Rider Waite, but I was called to this beautiful nouveau style. I’m actually very happy that it’s my first, and I’m thrilled to be working with it. The overall feeling is positive. That said, I’ll be getting the OG Rider Waite deck at some point. So far that’s the advice I keep hearing from seasoned tarot readers.

I’m relatively new to tarot and I’m really delving into my spirituality and I really want to do things right and start off on a good foot with the deck I just got! I decided not to go with rider waite for my first one even though I know it pretty well, I gravitated toward the fountain deck as soon as I saw it and there was no doubt in my (or my friend’s) mind that it was right for me. since it’s not the traditional rider waite, I want to take extra good care of it and really develop a good solid connection and know it well. this video is so helpful for that!!

A friend of mine passed a worn and used deck to me because she felt it needed to move on... I was so surprised how easy it did connect with me and yes. They do tend to be cheeky! I studied 2 different decks and I found that they won't carry the same meaning. Its interesting how you cant always go by the book

Before I got my first tarot deck I made sure to do my research which I don’t remember who it was but they recommended me the rider Waite tarot deck and when I got the deck I didn’t know that I was supposed to cleanse the deck so whenever I tried to do a reading it would just be sooooo off and then when I found out that you have to cleanse I was so relieved that it wasn’t the tarot deck just rejecting so it is very important to cleanse your deck or literally anything that you’re using.

We must also use scarves or hair to cover the energy portal at the back of our necks (I may have heard this from you on a prior video tbh)...or create a protective intention oil and be sure to apply it there. I found an olive pit with stem attached and I recently ordered Echinacea from your Apothecary to create an anointing oil...I'm very excited about that 😊
The idea of inanimate objects having a spirit or "life of their own" is not too weird or uncommon at all, think The Velveteen Rabbit, or Japanese Tsukumogami or Yokai even. I am sure there are numerous other examples when we think about it. 😊

I love your energy and not for nothing... but I randomly clicked on your video after completing a tarot deck haul and recognized your channel name from Etsy!! I have not purchased from you yet but I remember your shop and products were the FIRST I was drawn to. Clearly i resonate with your energy...and i use to do a similar technique using a head scarf. I would wear it as a head wrap to absorb my psychic energy throughout the day and then wrap my cards in them periodically before a major reading. Now my energy is so strong it just pours out through my hands LOL I gotta CHILL.
