228 kg dry. I thought this was going to be heavy.
I like how the panniers attach. No ugly, big frames.
    Great sounding exhausts/engine.
    Good review.

Wonder why the Caponord wasn't a bigger sales success? On paper it seems a winner, other than a bit more weight you'd think this would give the GS a run for its money - but in the UK at least you never see them...???

Likely the same reason most Aprilia's don't sell as they should, dealer network. Or at least thats the case here

TheMissendenFlyer Lack of dealerships plus I think there's an Italian reliability worry against the rock solid German GS. This is a great looking bike though, front end edges the GS. With the suspension, Brembos, it's a lovely package.

Agreed, I really wanted the tuono last year. But I ended purchasing the BMW S1000r for that very reason.

JerrySmirk It's a small world I'm faced with the same question. Tuono or s1000r. Or even the big Duke.

I came from a Z1000, and those were my 3 bikes. I think you would be happy (I would for sure) with either. The warranty and features on the s1000 won me over. But I often youtube test ride the others. LOL

hey Jamie great review as usual - how did you find the MPG? I've heard it drinks a bit too much for an adv bike - awesome engine and the sound is brilliant!!!

    Excellent, down to earth review.
Could you be interested in a review of the Tiger Sport 1050? Would like to know your thoughts about the model.
Congratulations for your videos. Keep on the good work.

    Hi
This Caponord is better than the Africa Twin or no?

What location did you use for recording the video?

I have been looking at the travel version of this bike. Coming from an 09 SV650sf, I really love the V-Twins. How comfortable do you think this would be for a 2-up ride over a weekend trip?

Two up is fine, I took many passengers on the Caponord Rally with me with no troubles.

Lovely bike that will get totally ignored by everyone queuing at the BMW GS counter.

    • @Mik01ist
      @Mik01ist 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Lee McDonald it has been ignored already... and aprilia isn't helping either since they've discontinued it this year (at least in Europe) - great bike tho

I owned one, i tour around Europe a lot. Sadly this bike is not good to live with long term. My engine had to come out of the bike 3 times to be rebuilt. the slave cam gear is on a shim not a bearing and it wears out every 5 to 6 k. Its super deep in the engine the cog that drives the cams. the clocks are busy and the fuel gauge is next to useless doing lots of mile on the first two notches then the next to go at 20 miles each completely random. There was a recall for dangerous brakes so make sure thats been done. Good points the auto suspension was good but that lovely rear shock does start to rust really quickly around its pivot. Berware the service cost when it comes to the big one. The valves are a bitch to get to and you will be parting with an extreme sum of money. something about the pulse of the engine make the rear tyre wear out super fast i was getting half the millage that i should out of mine. We were in 35+ heat and i have never ridden a bike that burnt my inner leg so much the engine cylinders are long and tuck in right under your inner legs. the heat it gives out is incredible so its not good in traffic in hotter countries. You can watch the trip we were on where the bike engine finally let go on my utube page. Aprila european breakdown that comes with the bike is not worth the paper it is written on. We were stuck for four days waiting then they sent a van to small to fit the bike into in Italy. Overall I sadly would say keep clear its a beautiful bike but no matter what a good bargain you can find on one it will cost you more in the long run.... Honestly do your research about the engine slave cam drive. If you have to pay to get that done it will be 4 figures to drop the engine out the bike....
