    I'm thinking of making one with a tension spring and a lip on the barrel, like a rat trap so it's "one way" and a door on the barrel with a combination lock but your idea is good too

    Well now that is a clever way of solving the problem, and it looks nice too. I have designed special hinges too and you are right they can be quite tricky to get them just right.
    Have a good weekend and thank you for the video.

      Thanks Glenn! Trying to catch up on comments today. It's been busy around here. My oldest daughter was getting married.

    You always have good stuff. It's interesting all the design work you put into the hinge. Very clever. I always learn something new from you. Thanks.

    I just made one with a more portable stand. I tried inserting a picture here but couldn’t figure that out…. Anyways, thanks for the video about making one.

    Pretty cool. The box flap probably isn't needed now days with package delivery notifications being what they are.

    curious how does that stop thiefs?

    • @samuelt321
      @samuelt321 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My guesses:
      Packages are not sitting on the edge of the road ready for any passerby to pick up.
      The barrel require any potential thief to actually stop and open the door.
      Both increase the work the thief has to put in for no certain return, so they might simply ignore it.

      It just keeps them from seeing it as they drive by. We live in the country so a box would just sit by the road for hours unattended.

      @@SoatMon I too live in the country. My coons will open everything. And if it's food ....oh man! Forget it! It is gone.

    But it isn't secure? The next person can just nick your stuff??? Why make something like this? You might as well just leave a plastic box outside.

      @sodd1000 Hey, he really nailed it with that 55-gallon mailbox. Figuring out a locking version shouldn't be rocket science.
