  • Made a DIY online shopping drop off box for "no contact" deliveries. This is one way to receive small to medium packages. This project was built during the pandemic to avoid unnecessary COVID exposure and stay safe. Now we can receive packages without touching them. #DIYweekends
    Sketchup plans available here:

    The following deserve credit, in part, for this build:
    My brother Gerry Sy-Quia who helped me carry the damn thing on to the foundation and was kind enough to serve as my camera man for this fun teaser.
    Hettich Group and Veris Int'l Dist. Inc. for the AWESOME 165 degree hinges that give a lot more access to the compartment than standard hinges!
    Makita Tools Philippines for the 40v line which made the build so much more enjoyable!
    Stanley Black and Decker Philippines and DEWALT for all the tools sent over including that sexy circular saw and jigsaw!
    Lotus Tools Philippines for always supporting this page.
    Majestic Chemicals Industries for the resin used in this project.
    Tejas Inc. for the roofing for this project. Check them out, they do all kinds of roofs!
    ...and MATIMCO and Nuwood for always being ready to support my build ideas!

    Can I suggest an modification to your project. What if you built it into your wall and the access to the door is on the inside of your property. What do you think? So you dont have to come outside to collect your packages. Also it prevents access to any lock that is possible of being picked?

    • @VincheroKarpintero
      @VincheroKarpintero  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      We considered this but I wasn't too keen on making a hole in the wall into our property. Agree though that it might have been nicer to do this.

    Finished product looks amazing. Looking to do the same! One thing I noticed tho is if someone really has the intent to get your stuff, they could just simply cut the cord that pulls the flap. I will sketch up something that keeps the flap horizontal and only goes down when the roof cover is closed.

    Great video and nice place to start. There is a security flaw though, what if someone just cuts the rope? I think that maybe it should be a cable that goes through the top and bottom boards so it can't be cut or removed or did I miss something?

    1 pry bar and 5 seconds later your package is gone. need better locks, hinges and doors. Its an idea. Maybe make it from steel and weld it. Or perhaps make the access door inside your property.

  • @artguy2133

    Someone asked how much the materials cost; for me it would cost thousands as I don't have any of the "fancy" power tools. If I did, I wouldn't know much about how to put it together without a materials list and a blueprint. I guess since the title doesn't indicate that this is a tutorial it was a good video for what it is: watching someone build something. BTW, nice camera work.

    • @VincheroKarpintero
      @VincheroKarpintero  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it would but said invader would still have to climb in to reach the packages. You could use a chain instead of rope. Our neighborhood is fortunately pretty good and have had no "invaders" so far.

  • @exfolios
    @exfolios 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Except that, any thief with a good master key can open any lock. I propose the same thing except that instead of package dropping down, it slides into the inside of the house through the wall. A thief sure could open any front door or window and can steal your delivered package of corn flakes but will have to deal with Rex the Doberman inside.

  • @Big-H517
    @Big-H517 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey their my friend made his mailbox by copying off your video. I suggest some design changes. Instead of using para cord use some type of heavy duty steel like rope and with some metal plating for parts that could be easily accessed. Saying this because he got robbed last week and I’m the one picking his packages up while he was on vacation. They got in from the top and bottom top by cutting the para cord and by snapping the heavy duty lock on it. I suggest for the bottom part is to put a metal box with a combo or key access on top the first lock. He also used laser cut metal for almost anything that goes through the top. After that he’s got tons of theft attempts and they all failed after that lol.

    • @VincheroKarpintero
      @VincheroKarpintero  2 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @reeeeeem69420

    I'm pretty sure the purpose of his project is to be an oversized mail box which can fit parcels from amazon etc. He probably lives in a good neigborhood, It's not meant to protect his parcels from porch pirates. I don't get why people in the comments are malding over security flaws.

  • @wt9653
    @wt9653 ปีที่แล้ว

    What happens when someone cuts the string. Uses a long handle grabber and takes your package.
    A simple modification is to add limiter so your flat board cant fall flat to the wall.

  • @ksnax
    @ksnax ปีที่แล้ว

    With a box that tall, is the trap door even needed though? Obviously these things just slow thieves down and hopefully discourage them entirely, and I am thinking most aren't going to bother if they can't actually see anything inside. Having to dive in head first to get it if they do is another roadblock.

  • @deerarebigdogs
    @deerarebigdogs ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay but if someone just opened it, then cut the string, they could access the packages.
