DISCLAIMER:
I do not mean to brag in any way, shape, or form. I love RISD portfolio videos and i watched tons of them before my application process. I hope to provide a different perspective and helpful tips to applying to art school.
RISD is the only art school i applied to and i did not use any outside resources (art studio etc.) the only traditional art school "event" that i did attend was national portfolio day. I highly highly recommend attending.
ALSO!! I will not be attending RISD in the fall:((

BACKGROUND:
I attended a sci tech high school so art was not my first priority. my pieces were made for class or for fun.
I stopped taking studio art classes before high school, but I took 2 high school art classes: graphic design (9th grade) and AP art (11th grade). A majority of my pieces were created in AP art and before senior year.
I attended my school's National Art Honor Society (NAHS) from 10th through 12th grade. My senior year, I served as NAHS president and started a free art lesson program for Title I elementary students.
My recommendations were written by (1) the teacher that taught me from 9th-11th grade and later retired and (2) the teacher that was hired my senior year and could attest to my commitment to NAHS.

this is so cool!! although the smaller text (like the disclaimer and the ECs listed) was hard to read sometimes. for future videos, can you put that text on a solid/transparent background so it's easier to read? (or color the text so that it contrasts more with the background)

I literally just love how you’re so blunt about the entire process you went through to create your pieces ( which I needed because I’ve been psyching myself out of applying to art school because I think I’m not good enough ) a lot of art youtubers are so,,,braggy ( ?? ) about how they created their art but you just admitted that you just chaotically created everything in your portfolio lmaooo

Hey, I love how you show the process of making your artwork. Just wondering that if you have any suggestion on the writing? I'm very frustrating when explaining the work...:(
hm for most of the writing it ended up just being me coming up with a random title that either made me sound smart, made the piece seem more interesting (LOL sometimes I had a friend offer name suggestion) or a title that is super obvious from looking at the piece (@ face pond). as for like concentration writing... I would recommend just to be super open minded and go with the flow. Since art is super subjective anyways there can be no wrong interpretation. I tended to describe my pieces kinda abstractly(?) and I was inspired because my art teacher gave me a comment of how my pieces reminded him of an “organized mess” or “creating mess out of chaos” so I just went with those ideas and ran with it. I hope this helps!
