The Buddhist temples in Colombo are beautiful, the food looks unbelievably delicious, and the beach with all the kites and the sunset seems like a great place to spend an evening or two or three! You are making me sooooo hungry watching this video...haha. Thank you for another awesome video, Christine! 💕

Rarely had takaways in the 1960's in Sri Lanka but one sound that got me excited was when the Gothamba Roti trolley made noise similar to kothu being made . So yummy childhood in Colombo with neighbours from all nations. African American, Indian Chinese Muslim Irish English German Dutch burghers all lived down our small street of 100 houses
Wow from Hawaii. A beautiful paradise. In the 1960's my dad grew orchids. Hawaii used to have brilliant orchids. Ironic that you have come to Sri Lanka. Thank you Christine
So much nostalgia! I visited Sri Lanka in 2016! I'm craving Kottu Roti so bad now 🤗 Thanks so much for sharing this! I remember being scared/amazed by the huge monitors lizard!

This is such an enjoyable video!! I work in Colombo, so it's was fun to see all the places I pass by on my way to work. You had an excellent guide as well.
U had nice full set of med spicy Sea food+ for dinner, must try rice & curry lunch, hopper, dosa, pittu, roti, string-hopper, etc all w meat + sea food + vege curries, regular & seeni sambol, omlets, etc combos for Am, Pm or nite meals( medium hot mostly possible if cooked for u & otherwise too).
Wow, a trip down memory lane. I am glad you got to eat Kottu Roti. My favorite. Seems like the dollar got even stronger now. Did you get a chance to eat egg hoppers?

@@harindaeranga7434 it because Nana's is the place to try kottu "when someone visit Galle face'. Also its famous among tourists because of the vibe there.

You missed out on a lot of other great food stops. Normally guys from the Tourism board won't take you to the local spots - Find a foodie and ask him/her.
