12 years old living in Los Angeles, 1977. A Dodger fan, Hated the Yankees and still do. But? That was the first GREAT Sports act I ever saw. Its still my favorite. I am a Reggie Jackson fan. Mr. October. Even his candy bar was good.
Reggie Jacksoni is the only player, in baseball history, to win the World Series MVP with two different teams. The '73 A's and the '77 Yankees a tremendous postseason clutch performer.
When Reggie Jackson retired in 1987, he hit 563 home runs, struck out over 2500 times, knocked in 1700 runs, and was the last Kansas City A’s player to retire. 1972, 1973, 1974, 1977 and 1978 World Series Champion. 1973 AL MVP award when he led the American League in HR, RBI, R, SLG% and OPS. Four times he stole 20 plus bases, four times he led the AL in HR, three times in slugging percentage, four times he led the Majors in strikeouts (batting) Between 1968 and 1980, he hit 409 of his 563 career homers. 2820 games played.
My favorite athlete of all time!! Reggie was amazing. I was 12 when he came back to Yankee Stadium as an Angel. My brother and I watched together and cheered so loud when he hit that upper deck home run off of Guidry. Steinbrenner had insulted him as he traded him and we were so happy he got his revenge with that home run.
He was, without a doubt, the most impactful player of the 1970s…. Five World Series wins! And what he did in game 6 of the 1977 series is probably the greatest clutch display I’ve ever seen….
Great video. One omission - steal of home in ALCS against Detroit 1972 in deciding game 5 - scored but broke his leg and missed A's WS. It was cool to see all the famous blasts though!
5:48... I was there. Reggie homered off Reggie Cleveland to walk it off in the 9th. Jackaon had reached over the RF wall to pull back a Red Sox HR earlier, then broke up a scoreless tie in the 9th to win 2-0. The late great Thurman Munson was on first.
I've always been loyal to the closest team to me & as a kid in the 70's we lived east of Cleveland & it was not easy. But as an individual player it's ok to be a fan of players on other teams & in the 70's Reggie was my baseball Hero.
One of best clutch players in MLB,sports history Reginal Martinez Jackson.Saw him play three times with NY Yankees 1979,1980 at old Staduim dude was the truuth
I like how he dropped the bat when he got a hold of one. Also cool to hear keith Jackson on the call for a couple of these. The voice of college football for me growing up.
The most impressive homerun I have ever seen was Reggie Jackson in the 1971 MLB All-Star when he played for the As. The game was played in Detroit. I was 12 and was a huge fan of Reggie and baseball. He hit the ball off a transformer on the top of Tiger Stadium. If it had not hit the transformer it might have gone another 100 feet. Some experts say it might have gone 550 feet or more if it had not hit the transformer. His third homerun vs Dodgers that landed in covered seats was also very impressive.
Reggie's 500th HR accounted for the Angels' only run in a 10-1 loss. The Royals increased their AL West lead over California to 1.5 games. KC won the division by three.
You could tell Howard Cosell had his guys, Ali and Reginald Martinez Jackson, he was spectacular. Even though I'm a Mets fan Graig Nettles is my all time favorite Player, but Pete Alonso is rapidly climbing the ranks.
You know I just want to say something I’m tired of 2023 and I’ll tell you why when I was a little boy I was a tremendous Yankee fan now I don’t care because everything is about money because I’m older now and I understand more and also when I was a little kid my favorite player was Reggie Jackson and a few other Yankees but mainly Reggie Jackson now I think Reggie is half Spanish and half black but in my eyes when I was a kid he was a Yankee my point is I feel nowadays everything is about race and I feel it’s involved in sports more now than then through my eyes because I was just a little kid rooting for my team and I didn’t see color and sports back then there wasn’t gay night there wasn’t this night it was just sports at least it was through my eyes and now in the year 2023 I can barely watch it I do feel baseball does a pretty good job with race but the NFL the NBA is constantly talking about race and politics sports is supposed to be a situation where you can relax and just watch a game from the daily grind of life and the daily grind of hardship This is just my opinion I am just one person and this is my honest opinion that’s all
Four pitchers, four pitches, four swings, four Hrs. In the World Series. Some writer said Shakespeare wouldn't write that if he were smashed. But it happened! #44 in '77!
Jackson has his detractors. I must day however the teams he played o..n were at or near the top in the standings. He was a great ball player, certainly
Being from Cleveland, Ohio, I loved the footage of the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium. As for Reggie hitting them off of my Indians well, anyway he HR's never get old.
I had a LOVE-Hate relationship with this guy for 10 years! I copied his HR batflip! I wore #44. But I lived 60 miles from NY Yankees Stadium,…., this guy’s whining daily about Billy Martin and Steinbrenner Got TOO OLD!!! I was Avid Red Sox fan, so I hated him TOO!
His career batting average was .262, but I wonder what his batting average was from the 7th inning on. His World Series and playoff exploits notwithstanding, even during the regular season, he was one of the most feared hitters in late-game situations to ever play the game.
I am 60-years old and all I know, Reggie Jackson was the man!
His three blasts in a World Series will forever live in my memory bank!
Me too, born on May 18th, 1963 ⭐️ …..Reggie was also born on 5/18 ❤️

Mr. OCTOBER
Corey Seager has now done it too dodgers and rangers

The 3rd home run in game 6 of the 1977 World Series was the best one of them all
When Reggie Jackson retired in 1987, he hit 563 home runs, struck out over 2500 times, knocked in 1700 runs, and was the last Kansas City A’s player to retire. 1972, 1973, 1974, 1977 and 1978 World Series Champion. 1973 AL MVP award when he led the American League in HR, RBI, R, SLG% and OPS. You mean 1702 RBIs.
And hit 3 homers on three pitches in the world series making Strinbrenner and Yankee fans the proudest 😊
@Pete970 n hit a Home run on the 1st pitch of the 1978 season 1st game!
@@Pete970
Four consecutive HRs on four swings. He'd homered on his last swing in the prior game, then walked on four pitches prior to his trifecta.
Never heard of him
The most beautiful swing I have ever seen !!!
❤️ Reggie Jackson tiger stadium roof homerun
He was HUGE!!! His own candy bar. 😮 Mr. October. 😊
I’m 60
He’s the best clutch power hitter in the postseason I’ve ever seen
Game 6 1977 WS my favorite game I have ever seen Reggie was my Idol growing up so obviously that was exciting to see

He did all that without taking steroids. And that's why he's in the HOF!!!
He was the Elvis of baseball. Put his heart into it, always came through in the clutch and charmed everyone everyone. There will NEVER be another
Reggie was a money ballplayer for sure!
He was, without a doubt, the most impactful player of the 1970s…. Five World Series wins!

Ridiculous..so many youtubers overstate
Great video. One omission - steal of home in ALCS against Detroit 1972 in deciding game 5 - scored but broke his leg and missed A's WS. It was cool to see all the famous blasts though!
Reggie was the man!! He had bat flips/tosses and swag before they were a thing.
5:48... I was there. Reggie homered off Reggie Cleveland to walk it off in the 9th. Jackaon had reached over the RF wall to pull back a Red Sox HR earlier, then broke up a scoreless tie in the 9th to win 2-0. The late great Thurman Munson was on first.
His bat speed was incredible !!!
Reggie holds the most unbreakable record 4 ws homers in a row off 4 different pitchers on the first pitch
How fitting HR #3 LAST! Thanks for the memories n clips I've never seen b4. 1 HR was when he got 10RBIs in 1 game!
I watched it LIVE!!
@@chrisphillips348 that must have been truly amazing!!!
3:32 The almost sad way the announcer says “Mr.October” on that homerun is great
Howard Cosell he wasn't sad it was like no surprise
reggie the quickist bat swing ever 71 all star game 1977 ws game 6 3 homers 3 pitchs
Nice video! Such an amazing player, with such a high IQ.
That last homerun! 🔥🔥
Reggie!!!
That home run in the 1971 All Star Game at Tiger Stadium would have left the park if it didn't hit the light tower
He's answered the whole world

2:47 Mr. October, period !
Can’t beat Curt Gowdy on the call.
His homers were so majestic, they would dissappear higher than the lights....and with no steroids
Steroids really don’t really have anything to do with distance they aren’t as powerful as you think
Great Stuff!
Thanks

This is like the question of which Kobe was better 24 or 8 , number 9 or number 44 Reggie ?

No player had a better method of releasing the bat after crushing a pitched ball.
Un enorme pelotero.
People who didn't like him would get 😡 when he would pimp a homer, my response to them, if u could hit em like that, u would pimp them too, 😆

When a pitcher leaves in Reggie wheel house...Forget about it !
