    Great tip when the sand is nice & fluffy. Can you post another instructional vid when the base is hard packed? Like how the bunker might appear after a heavy rain or there simply isn't a lot of sand.

    At 10 years of age I was taught to hit flop shots on grass. Until I perfected it with 100% confidence. My instructor took me in a bunker and had me hit a flop shot. I hit the shot and put it 12’ from pin. The next one was 4’ the 3 rd in the hole. Learn the flop on grass and take it in the bunker works.

    Alex, you obviously are perfectly right, *however* , the sand you're using here is perfectly fluffy. Dosing your shot on a hard crust of sand is something totally different... It's a frequent problem and l should be glad to find the solution. Can you help? ☺

    Brilliant 💪🏻
    Finally I understood how to play it.
    I normally don’t get into bunkers that often and when I do I don’t have the feeling nor the experience and I panic a bit…
    But now I have been out on my golf curse and training from what you said on the video and now I got it 😂

    This is a GREAT tip. Was struggling at a practice facility with sand shots. Remembered I had this on my phone. Checked it, used it and BOOM. Worked like a charm.
    I also adapted the Jon Rahm technique the last time I played. Placed my driver about 6 inches behind the ball on drives and had a consistent round off the tee.

    Great lesson! I've been struggling with the bunker shot all season and I practiced today and that tip about lowering the shaft angle to get the club face more on line helped a lot!! Also that low stance with the weight forward. I got 8 in row out with 4 on the green and 4 just off but out of the bunker. I also tried it out from the rough just off the green and it works great in that situation too,

    The left wrist looks slightly cupped. Is it? And does this come into the stroke automatically?

  • @mikerodrick2430
    @mikerodrick2430 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Alex; If you're in a bunker with a decent lie, after you dig your feet in, shouldn't you hit behind the ball automatically because your feet are lower in the sand than the ball? You should hit it fat which is where you want to hit it anyway. Also, & this is only my experience, if I open the face before I take my grip, it sometimes comes out too low with way too much spin to the left because I'm swinging from the outside across the ball. Lefty golfer. I just use my normal grip as for every other shot & allow my right wrist to cup which opens the face. The 1 thing I don't do is get lower with hands lower so I definitely want to try that. Thanks for all of your videos.

    Alex, I enjoy your golf tips on videos. Years ago in a golf lesson, I was taught to “visualize” hitting a saucer of sand and ball is the teacup. Also, taught to open left/lead foot about 20 - 30 degrees to keep the opened club face traveling square to target. Your thoughts and comments? PS - from Alabama, USA.

    Alex, I saw another TH-cam video explaining how to hit bumper shots. But the teacher was a hall of fame golf coach. The interesting thing was he showed a technique to use without a ball to learn the proper setup and swing technique. Since there is no ball its takes the anxiety away of hitting a bad shot. It was brilliant. I now have a practice technique to use to hit better bunker shots. The technique you demonstrate is similar but not as detailed. As always you are spot on with your videos.

      @mikerodrick2430 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not Alex or a pro but I can tell you that you can't use this method on firm or wet sand. The club will bounce off of the sand & you'll blade it or not get it over the lip if there is one. Don't open the face as much & hit it like a chip. What makes it more difficult is that you have to hit closer to the ball & it won't have a lot of spin so will roll farther. Definitely a hard shot.
