You would need to download the server files using steamcmd. Check out my video explaining how to do this and then host the server on your dedicated PC. By adding the argument -crossplay to your batch file. You should be able to run a crossplatform server. th-cam.com/video/xqtZNxdhXo8/w-d-xo.html
But how do “other” people see and join your server? Where do they put in your ip address? You only see your own server under “unofficial” because it detects it on your LAN network. But other players not in your home won’t see the server in their “unofficial” tab. So how do friends join?
Hi thanks for watching. When you open your ports on your router it will broadcast to the unofficial tab and your friends should be able to see it. Also be sure to open your firewall ports as well like in the video. ( only host needs to open firewall on PC hosting the server) I’ve tested it using my cellular network tethered on another PC and still seen it also had a friend join as well.

Hey man, great video! I was able to follow ur steps and setup the server. I had no issues joining the server (on the same device it’s being hosted on); however, my buddy tried joining the server and it gives him the following error: JOINING FAILED Connection Timeout. Do you know what that could be related to? Perhaps I messed something up during the setup?
@@bearattack574 Yes I was able to solve it by doing a factory reset. I have an AT&T router so I found a guide on the community forums. Just did a factory reset on the router. Reopened the ports, recreated the firewall rules & now the server is working. I’m online with my friends right now.
Make sure the server is up to date and double check your ports on your router as well. Make sure the ip address didn’t change if you are using dhcp you may want to setup a static ip address. You can update the server by making sure you’re in offline mode and it should install an update if there is any. Then enable offline mode again and run. Hope you get it working
I'm having the exact same issue. Server was running fine, didn't make any changes to game files, friends could connect easily and then now my server won't appear in the list even after updating both the game and dedicated server client. Double checked IP configuration and ports and all still the same. Seems like a lot of us are having similar issues and your video is the most up-to-date info I've been able to find in troubleshooting dedicated server setups for ASA. I've been looking for a fix for the last few days but for the life of me can't figure it out. Maybe the comment section will come through with a fix.
@@boomtown9145 I don’t know if this is has to do with it but right now the newest official version has turkey trials running and it is run through a mod. Maybe you need to enable the turkey trials mod in order for it to show up on the server list. I will check my test server out and see if that is what is happening. Also important to note, launching from the steam app will use up your steam ARK token. So you can't play ARK and host ARK at the same time. I'm moved over my start.bat file to launch anonymously.
I have been launching the server with steam in offline mode to keep it from disconnect me on the pc connecting. Just need to switch to online mode when you want to update the server automatically otherwise may launch an older version.
@@ghosttechtips6944 I copied over the *.bat file I made, dropped into dedicated server folder, and launch with that. It will launch anonymously, and it works fine. :) I'll just have to remember to drop my client when I want to upgrade server.
You would need to access the router if you want to play with others online. Might be advisable to ask the server provider if they can open them for you

Glad you got it going. To change the map just change the map name in the script. I have another video showing how to do this in a cluster. Be sure to backup your save if you have saved stuff on the island. I believe the centre is wp_thecentre instead of wp_theisland.

So my route only gives me a listing of External Port, Internal Port. I can only place in one set of numbers ranging from 1 to 65535 in each. Which one would be listed at the Port and the Query Port and which sting of numbers to I put in which slot on my routers "Port" listings? I am new to all this.
You would want 7777, 7778 27015 and 27016 external. You may have to make 4 rules. UDP/external is for allowing incoming connections outside of your network whereas tcp/internal would be within your network so if you are hosting a lan server on your home network you only need tcp but udp anyone can join which is why you should want a password so not just anyone can join.
To make it easier I would use external and internal 7777, 7778, 27015, 27016. Because I am testing on lan in the video I have both UDP/TCP or External/Internal. So your router you might need to set 8 rules if that makes sense. 7777 external 7777 internal etc. I have tested and others were able to join my server as well because udp is open.

Be sure you have all checked under pve/pvp and also ensure that you have a password on the server and have show password protected checked. As long as ports are open and firewall ports opened should be able to see it. Hope that helps :)
If you are referring to your ip address. Open CMD and type ipconfig. Where it shows your Ethernet adapter you should see your ip address which you’ll use for port forwarding and where it says default gateway would be the address to get into your router.

Ensure that you have updated your server to newest version before running in offline mode on the pc holding the server. As long as you open the ports 7777,7778,27015 UDP in your router and firewall inbound rules you should be good. You may need to setup a static ip address depending on your router but I have not had to do this. If they can’t connect there is something going on with your port forwarding usually.

I had them same problem but I have an ASUS router and with their program there is a switch that turns on/off port forwarding rules. Once I toggled them on it worked fine.
Check out my other video explaining server settings. You can change Dino stats also by using ShowMyAdminManager and have cheats enabled on your server. You would also need to be admin of the server to do so.
Anyone know using this method how to get mods installed since you aren't launching specifically with the bat file instead you are just using the steam launcher. Just need to figure out how to add the mod command line on server start up as the other portion is just adding it into the ini files. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@@ghosttechtips6944 I was able to run it on both windows and Linux (although using Docker with Linux). Havnt decided what OS to run it on, I know Linux has more overhead than windows. What’s your experience with running it on either, do you prefer one?
@@Cevap05 I got it running with Ubuntu using proton and I found it only took 12GB ram to run it. Windows is easier to manage for those unfamiliar with console commands and navigating Linux but I would use Linux because it uses less resources at least in my experience.

So am I able to run a dedicated server on PC for me and my ps5 buddies? I tried but can't seem to get it working. It doesn't show up in unofficial, but if I try to connect to it via console command 'open (ip):7777?(password)' it just says my password is wrong though it should work
I notice this as well when there is a password using open ip:7777 password. I haven been able to connect that way unless I remove the password which isn’t ideal. Gives me same error. I am unsure about crossplay. There might need to be a parameter set in the batch file: others are saying it works on console by default but I don’t have a PS5 to test it out.
Yep got the port forwarding and firewall stuff done. Ok I'll give it another crack. I was just using the official dedicated server app, I'll try the more technical method too
Generally on the official guide to ASA server hosting it mentions to use the ports 7777,7778 and 27015 I use 27016 as well because I’ve noticed people have easier time joining and it doesn’t hang.

If you are connected to the same network I don’t believe you need to open any ports. As for security opening ports only allow specific ports to be opened while still keeping you protected behind a firewall. Having a password on the server is ideal so you don’t just have anyone join your server who might have malicious intent. UDP will allow others outside your network to join whereas tcp only allows within your network so if you can’t connect with no ports open then only open TCP and try that. You could copy the saved folder for the local single player files to the path you are hosting the server. Glad to hear ya got it working. I have a video showing how to copy single player modifier settings to the dedicated server. If you copy the whole saved folder it should copy your saves.
Copy entire C:\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved folder to the new path that steam installed to. Believe its C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ark Survival Ascended Dedicated Server\ShooterGame\Saved
@@LesterSuggs if you are still having trouble joining your server. Press ~ to get to console at main server page and type open 192.168.*.*:7777. This method only works if you remove the password. I am unsure what the command is if there is a password. Let me know if you are successful :)
I would backup your gameusersettings.ini file and after delete C:\Program Files (x86)\steamapps\steam\common\Ark Survival Ascended Dedicated Server\Saved folder. Start the server then close. After replace the gameusersettings.ini mentioned in the video. Hope that will help :)
Under gameusersettings.ini in [ServerSettings] you can add a line to change it. Can find server options here ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Server_configuration#[ServerSettings]. Also be sure to check my other video showing how to easily set server settings.
It is free you are allowed one dedicated server per copy of ark survival ascended/ steam account. If you have the hardware can host your own. Edit: wildcard has enabled multiple server hosting by allowing you to login anonymously.

I’ve never had this problem. I launch ark and ark server both in online mode and it works for me.

If you forward the ports on your router it will be public to anyone.

I would backup your gameusersettings.ini file and after delete C:\Program Files (x86)\steamapps\steam\common\Ark Survival Ascended Dedicated Server\Saved folder. Start the server then close. After replace the gameusersettings.ini mentioned in the video. Hope that will help :)

Works for me perfect. Do someone know can you transfer to server your progress from singleplayer ?
There is a guide on steam for ASE that may still work. Just gotta rename some files and stuff.
how to set it to pve?
Under gameusersettings.ini in [ServerSettings] you can add a line to change it. Can find server options here ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Server_configuration#[ServerSettings]. Also be sure to check my other video showing how to easily set server settings.
Is this for free? Have i to buy a server?
It is free you are allowed one dedicated server per copy of ark survival ascended/ steam account. If you have the hardware can host your own. Edit: wildcard has enabled multiple server hosting by allowing you to login anonymously.
Is this server cross platform
if you add the argument- crossplay to the batch file it should allow cross platform. I don't have an xbox or ps5 to test but it should be working.
