thank you so much bro, i thought i was gonna have to pay another 60 dollars to play for 2 months, i saw another free dedicated server video but yours was 10 times more simple and i saw country comments of people running, i ran into a couple problems but fixed them eventually. one is kinda funny, i went to the uptos not realizing its an Australian, i was on live support and they told me id have to travel to Australia(literally from across the world) to get one of their products😆
hey man, gotta say I love how clear your video is about setting up the server. I've been looking for this since ascended came out and I'm not good with PC yet so I put it off until now. I edited this comment 3 times at different parts that I got stuck at but managed to figure out after lol😂, everything is working fine now and man I really appreciate this video, well done!
Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad it helped, and thanks in particular for about it being clear - I'm never sure if my accent makes it hard to understand me from time to time🤣
Hi - Your video is very helpful, thank you. I am a first time PC user, after playing on console for many many years; I was setting up a cross-platform dedicated server last night and your guide worked great; I even managed to open my EEro mesh port for remote access with my friends. Thanks again, very, very helpful.
Welcome to the PC world! It can get pretty complicated, especially with all the different tools/ programs and settings. Thank you for the feed back, I appreciate it. And thanks for the sub ❤
@@zentisca You're welcome. I was wondering how many maps can one cluster to a PC and is it related to your CPU and RAM capacity? I use one of those HP Z800 Workstations with 48GB RAM - 2x Xeon Hex Core X5670 2.93GHz CPU - 4TB 2x Quadro 5000 Storage
@@AL_McLoud Assuming this the computer is only running the servers and not being played on at the same time, I'd safely say 3 servers at once, but possibly 4-5, depending on how active the servers are A single server for myself is 10.5Gb of memory, and using hardly any processing power If any of your friends, or yourself have another system laying around, you should be able to use that to run another cluster. Worse case, you could have all the servers set up. and have the 3 always active, but use the 3rd "slot" as a revolving map schedule. I use to do that with my old group, The center as the permanent map, then every week have a 2nd that switched between the others. It gave us a bit more of an extended play time too, as we waited for the map cycles to complete out Dino-dexs
@@zentisca thank you for your reply. Yes, this computer is a server only unit. It's only three of us and we are not very active, not all three at the same time anyways, and I was thinking to do 3 maps or 4 at the most but we won't need all of them on at the same time, maybe just 2 on, or 3 on at the most. It sounds like we should be able to do it. Last question: Could we transfer a saved file from our Nitrado server (Island) and somehow add it to a new Island map on this server? I say this because it would be nice to be able to take all our progress from there to this new server. Thanks again for your time.
@almcloud you should be able to get your saves from nitrado. In the section where I talk about deleting your saves, you'll want to find those files on your nitrado server. I haven't used nitrado for a while, but most server host have a access IP, host name and password. You're looking for FTP access, which should be on the home screen of your server page. You'll need an external tool like FileZilla, which is essentially, just 7zip/Winrar, but for accessing FTP connections. Download that, and up the top you'll have the fields to enter the details But I think it's just the IP:port and password you need to access it. Something like xxx.xxx.xx:xxxx Give it a second to connect and then navigate to the folders I show in the video. Copy and paste them, or drag then out of FileZilla on to your desktop. Then copy them to your ark's folder, replacing them in their folders. If in future you want to upload your files to nitrado, you can copy and replace the files in the FileZilla Window If it doesn't work let me know and I can make a quick guide on it. There might even be a nitrado written guide for it. I probably should have checked that before I typed this out lol server.nitrado.net/en-GB/guides/using-your-nitrado-server-ftp
I ran into a problem and I don’t know how to fix it. Basically I have a Nitrado server that is my “main” server. I wanted another server so I can transfer to other maps, but I don’t want to buy another server. I followed this guide and the cluster id is the same on both servers, but it doesn’t pop up to transfer. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Once again, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to create this guide, it helped me get my first server up and running 😊 I did encounter a bit of a road bump with making the server joinable from outside networks. I followed your Port Forwarding guide and I managed to make the server visible on the list of servers in the game and I even managed to get on it from my Xbox and play with no issues. The problem I have though is that my friend can't get on from his home even though he can also see the server listed. It keeps loading for a bit then he's getting the Joining Failed / Connection Timeout error. I don't think the problem is not on his end because he is also renting a Nitrado Unofficial server and he can hop on that one. My concern is that I have some security settings that I need to tap on maybe on my computer/server, or on my Eero port forwarding settings or both. What do you suggest I do?
At face value, it sounds like it could be Battle Eye. If you have it enabled on your server, try disabling it, and if it is disabled, also try it while having "Manually define Launce Arguments @4:44" I'm unsure if console has a different launch mode, or an option on their end to change whether they load with Battle Eye or not, but if they do, have it launch without Battle Eye. And I'm sure you already have, but just incase you haven't, make sure the versions are the same. If the server isn't up to date, or the person trying to connect to the server isn't up to date, you'll get the same error too. It's *unlikely* it's related to router settings and if it is, I don't have a definitive answer to it. If another client is able to connect in any way from another device, then it should be related to Battle Eye settings, or Version Desync
@@zentiscahi, I'm still trying to figure out what's going on, battleeye off didn't do the trick :( I have noticed something. If you look here where you show your server in the list of Unofficial servers, there is a semicircle icon on the far left side of the server row, next to the lock icon. My server doesn't have that, do you know what it means? 10:37 I've noticed that all Official servers have that icon, most Unofficial ones do and none of the Non-dedicated servers have it.
@almcloud that icon is the battle eye, if you see that icon on, it means battle eye is enabled, if you don't see it, battle eye is disabled The only other suggestion I have, would be to remove all the mods from the server (check the description as well, as the launcher can manually assign them
Great video but a quick question. I am new at setting up this up and I only want to run an "in-home" server. There are just a few of us that play at my home. Am I safe to assume this will work fine running my server on a separate high end laptop with all of us on the same LAN? I have set one up manually using SteamCMD and it works but this looks so easy and want to try it.
Hey there! Great video. Updating the game files returns an error saying "Update may have failed, exit code -2147450730" and nothing downloads. I have .NET8 and am running as administrator. Any ideas for a fix? Thank you!
I haven't seen this error before. Where does the error occur, in the update tool's window, or a separate window? At first glance I would be inclined to say this is a permissions error from window. It *may* be worth trying the following Options 1) Go to your Folder that contains the server in question. Right Click on it and click Properties (Alt + Enter on selected folder). Then go to the bottom where it says Attributes, and try pressing the checkbox that says: Read-only. You want to press that until the checkbox clears, so that it's not semi-enabled and not checked. Then press Apply, then when the next window pops-up, just press OK on that. Press OK on the Prosperities window and Try updating again. 2) Failing that, Create a new Server. Copy your files from the "Old" server to the "New" server. Then try updating the "New" server to see if it Updates. 3) Trying Uninstalling/Reinstalling the Creation tool to see if it makes any difference
Out of the box, no, you'll need a way to run .exe files, and the mac version of .NET8.0 Alternatively, you could look into just dual-booting your mac, though I have no idea what that's like these days.
There's currently no creation tools for Mobile Servers. I'd need to look into Nitro's services to see if there's a way. Though I'm sure there's people a lot smarter than me who've tried.. I'll see what I can do :)
I’m running as admin and it still won’t let me open the creation tool
