I just bought another G7 for a very different reason. I did large format landscape work a few decades ago, the detail in the image was incredible, but the equipment was huge and heavy, making getting to where I wanted to shoot from almost impossible. These days I do stitched pano work, which gets me the same results with some important advantages. First there is the variable sensor size - effectively my sensor is as wide and as tall as I need it to be because it’s made up of multiple images. Then there is the lack of distortion. With the camera rotating the sensor is effectively curved, so I’m no longer projecting a spherical image on a flat surface. The fact that is digital has its advantage, I bracket my images +/-3 stops to create HDR images, so I have better dynamic range than I ever had with film. But the biggest advantage is form factor. My pano rig is tiny. It consists of an indexed rotator, a modified L-bracket, a second non-indexed rotator and a longish arca-Swiss plate, plus the smallest tripod I could get away with. This mini pano rig started with a GX9, but camera sits in portrait orientation, so the flip-up EVF gets in the way, and the total file sizes were getting out of hand. I then switched to the GX85, but I was forced to use a time delay to eliminate camera shake because there’s no remote shutter input. Image stabilization is always turned off when bracketing for HDR - I’m shooting from a tripod. Then I happen to look at the specs of the G7 vs the GX7. It has a grip (which I love), it has easy to use dials, it has input for a remote shutter, it’s lighter, and the dimensions of the left side of the camera (from center of the lens to the edge of the camera) are the same. It’s like they figured exactly what I needed, and made it cheap! My travel pano rig is an L-bracket (which I machined down a bit), the Sunwayfoto indexed rotator (that goes down to 5 degrees per click) with the arca-Swiss clamp, a Neewer non-indexed arca-Swiss rotator and a longish arca-swiss plate. The indexed rotator mounts to the tripod, the L-bracket mounts on that in portrait orientation, the second rotator mounts to that to do vertical adjustment (for multi-row panos), the long arca-swiss plate does the offset to correct for parallax error. For the best image quality I use the Sigma 56mm f1.4 lens between F5.6 and f8 - if I’m printing something walll sized, the lens counts. For digital media the Lumix 20mm is shockingly good and it’s tiny. In my real work I still use Micro Four Thirds, because it has the best pixel density - sensor size means nothing to me. I use a G9, Fanotec makes a rotator that drops down to 2 degrees per click, and I use the best optics I can find. For now it’s the Rokinon 135mm f2 with a lens collar, which is mounted to a tripod that nobody would think of using for M43 - it’s massive and rock solid. Image quality is then only limited by air quality. File sizes get huge, but detail is endless. I have city skyline pictures where you can see what individual people are doing. Little tip: if you ever want to find out if a high detail image is AI generated or not, look at small imperfections like how cars are parked. AI thinks that everyone parks 6” from the curb…
You talked me into a g7 and it has been a great second camera to my gh6. It is so lightweight. I used to own a gx8 and I like this camera more than the gx8 even though yes the gx8 was a great camera, but the weight, size and shape of the g7 is too good. I don’t need weather sealing so that makes its weight and size fantastic. Very good pictures out of the g7. Video is also very good if you are fairly stable with a lens that has its own stabilization, or on a tripod. Run and gun video with the g7 camera is a bad idea though. Gh6 handles that job very well.
I've had the G7 for about maybe 7 yrs. The lack of HDMI was always a bummer, but it was a Christmas gift so I can't complain much. Yeah, you can use the Panasonic app but unless you're using a tablet it's useless. It's been a cool little B-roll. Now, as I type this, I don't know why I did not do this sooner, but I grabbed the Viltrox EF-M2 ii adapter to use with my canon, tamron and sigma glass about 2 months ago and BOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY OH BOY.... It is ridiculous. I had been using my Canon 5d2 and 5D3 for videoing weddings, events and games. But man, it has taken my sports videos to a new level. I still may grab a G95 or Gh5, I REALLY want the S52. But I've had other creatives in my IG inbox asking "Bro what the hell are you shooting on? The vid was amazing!" If you've got glass with stabilization, you can still get buttery smooth shots handheld and with a gimbal or 3 point method.
Same is true with the G100, except you get more resolution with the G100. Its basically a mini G9. Pair it with the Pana Leica 12-60mm, you have a compact pro cam. It seem crazy to put a $1000 lens on a $600 compact mirrorless- it's not "balanced," but it's remarkably capable and I got the lens for $150, because the seller thought it was broken. Less control, poorer handling than the G7 or G9, but the G100 is very small with a G9 sensor and is loaded with features.
I just picked up a near mint G7 for 175 euro that included the 14-42 mm kitlens and sold the lens on the same day for 75 euro...I'm happier than a pig in shit 😁
The lack of IBIS is a let down of the g7, but I find it much easier to carry and pack compared to my g80s. It is more like a gx size camera with viewfinder so that is a big plus!
@@CharlieCastilloThank you very much sir for the suggestion, have you used this g7 camera? If you want to use it, can you use the SD card of the camera in the mobile phone or not and how can you easily transfer from the camera to the mobile phone? Because I am preparing to buy the camera tomorrow
@attractedanyone i have the G7 since 5 years ago, you can use the app on your phone, but you need to storage your videos in a SD card using your camera, and then transfer the photos and videos via Bluetooth to the phone. The app helps you move some features like, iso, focus, exposure, etc... And also you can view the image that you are recording or photoshooting, it's nice, but when you wants to share a video it will take you a lot, the photos are faster, but still slow, a video of 10 seconds will take you like 8 minutes, and a picture, like a minute
@@grantrobertdavies I looked it up and did a little research. But it seems the lens' I already use have stabilization. Will it really benefit me to have stabilization in both the body AND lens?
Got my G7 few years ago, still great camera.

I think the G7 was also the only Lumix camera to come in that Gunmetal Grey colour, which is a shame because it looks fantastic on it.
yeah, looked super rad :)

It is a great camera micro 4/3 camera especially if you are using it for talking heads or just for the sticks where you are not moving alot.
Yeah man :)
Isn't this a full frame camera? Thanks man.

Still worth it ❤ I have it
I paired my G7 with a Lumix 20mm
Great Combo :)
DId you mention if this was full frame or not? I've got one with two lenses I can snag for $350.
Not full frame :) $350 is a great price :)
I have a G85 ita still cheap and you can use a HDMI filed monitor unlike the G7
What exactly do you mean that it doesn't have HDMI?
@@DrenTheLiar it has a micro hdmi which can break easy depending on the cable
u can use it to connect the camera to a computer or external monitor

Just get a decent gimbal for the g7 and you are more than fine.
I just hate the stability and focus
That’s horrible on this camera
Ok :)
@ any tips to get it to focus better and help it keep that stability for video ??
