mgr5550 which mega OIS lens? The kit one? That only has OIS if the body supports it which the G7 body doesn’t. Try the 35-100 which should use OIS on any body to be certain.
For an entry to mid level MFT camera, the G7 still holds up well today for both stills and video. As pointed out here, the 16mp sensor shouldn't be an issue for the audience this is aimed at. It's Achilles heel is the total lack of in body stabilization - something every Olympus camera has and Panasonic added in their next generation of bodies. You will really need to limit yourself to Panasonic lenses with stabilization built in, and even then it isn't anywhere as effective as the Olympus or later Panasonic cameras. But again, probably good enough for the not-so-advanced photographer who wants a camera that puts total control at their fingertips. That is the main strength here - you can't buy a camera with better controls for basic shooting scenarios. In addition you get a mic input and good built-in pre-amps - very surprising at this price point. If you are starting out on a budget, as I write this I can find this camera on eBay for well under $300; sometimes under $250. That makes it a huge bang for buck proposition: a good workhorse camera, professional controls, good feel in the hand - not too big / not too small - for just a few hundred dollars. That's money you can put toward good MFT lenses, which will contribute more to the quality of your pictures than any camera will.
im a begginner guy who just jumped in, in the world pf photography im having issues with blur shots it is clear in the screen but when i capture it it becomes blur any advice?
@ Blur is usually movement. The camera is using a slow shutter speed, and either the photographer can’t keep the camera rock solid steady, or the subject is moving. You can fix it by switching to Shutter Priority mode and selecting a higher shutter speed. The general rule of thumb is that for a 25mm lens, you should shoot at 1/60th second or faster. If the lens is 25mm or longer, use a stabilized lens. As I said, the camera itself lacks stabilization, so for longer lenses use a tripod.
Honestly an amazing video.i asked two friends who are professional photographers what camera I should start with and they both told me this camera, gave me a few pointers. They also told me to go watch a few reviews on it and you were spot on with all the advice they gave me. The only thing, which is minimal but worth noting, was they warned me to never EVER get it wet, not even a splash or a few rain drops. As it could damage the camera irreparably. That being said awesome video, this should have so many more views?!
The splash thing has put me off this camera - I may get a fz330 instead. I know its 2 years later, but do you have any more information about the (lack of) splash/dust resistance and ruggedness
I use this little camera for my work a lot. Incredibly light and very affordable! I have since sold all my DSLR gears and heavy tripod. I am now using micro four thirds Panasonic G7 and Olympus E-M1 II. It's not the best and can't compete with the other mirrorless camera BUT it is still incredible.
