    Just tried on the GTS 18 after going through 2 pairs of the 17s. Whoa! What a dramatic difference. Very unlike the adrenaline to completely change like that. The sizing definitely got larger - I had to size down half a size. I was very skeptical about the support but after running in it it's very smooth and has better cushion than last year, while being much lighter. Not sure about the durability yet but we'll see!

    So I´ve been wearing and enjoying the Asics Gel Kayano models 21, 22 and 23, however lately I´ve been having some blisters on my heel after a run. Should I continue wearing the Kayano, moving to 25 now, or should I consider a new model or even a new brand? Also considering this video, how do I determine where my foot starts to pronate and what width I should get?

    Perfect comparison - I am looking at making a change from Adrenalines which I have worn for a number of years to the Mizuno. I currently have Adrenaline GTS 16s. Is the Mizuno a similar fit? There are no stockists of either brand in my area so I need to buy online.

      Hey Keren,
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to send through your question - apologies for the delayed response.
      If you have experienced the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16, you would find the Mizuno Inspire 14 to fit and feel very similar. Main difference between them is the weight reduction in the Inspire. Inspire 14 is responsive under the foot and will hold the foot in similar position through mid-stance (breaking phase of gait cycle) but I like the Mizuno Inspire purely because the rear of the ankle (calcaneus) holds a little better, minimising the potential for the foot to move through first contact point with the ground.
      I hope this helps with your decision, please let us know if you need anything else.
      Happy Running.
      Josh.

    Hello, I want to buy a pair of Mizuno Inspire 14, but I'm not sure what size should I order online(I don't have the possibility to try these as there are no stores nearby).
    Currently I own one pair of ASICS GT-2000 6 with a size of 11(US) and Adidas Ultraboost size 11(US), even though the ultraboost seem to be a bit larger than the ASICS. The store where I want to buy them only have 10.5(US) and 11.5(US), so no possibility for me to get a 11(US) size for the Mizuno.
    Thank you!

    Josh, I have a question that I can never get a straightforward answer to. I have high arches and overpronote (arch collapses). I am a heel/midfoot striker. I have been running in stability shoes for years fairly comfortable, but I am wondering what you would suggest is better, a neutral shoe with an athletic insole (heat moldable or Superfeet) or stick with a stability shoe without an insert? My issue is that most stability shoes come in many different feels, some are low, moderate or stiff and I have trouble finding the correct one as I've had some that are too stiff. I enjoy the technical aspect of your reviews, keep them up. Thanks!

      Hi Jeff,
      Thanks for sending through your question, and I apologise with the delay in responding.
      I have a couple of questions for you:
      Have you had you had a joint hypermobility test? Sounds as though you may have flexible ligaments which enhance's hypermobility.
      The reason I ask is I see cases like yours every so often. A high arch which could be diagnosed neutral pitch, however when force is put through the foot, the arch collapses (over pronates). The thing that we look at in this situation is the pronation velocity (how quickly the foot transitions through pronation phase). Pronation is simply our bodies way of breaking/slowing down the rate of movement. With cases such as yours, pronation velocity can have considerable irritation when met with a generic arch support from the shoe. Usually in the form of dual density arch support.
      You may find a generic off the shelf arch support to work better with your foot rather than a "stability" style shoe. But in my experience, you will find the same problem. I say generic because it is exactly that. A product to cater to the masses and hopefully works.
      However, the most cost-effective insert I have found is a form-orthotic. Half the price of a customised orthotic and through heat and pressure will conform to your foot providing a more pure fit. Better than off the shelf superfeet for example.
      I suppose I have dodged around the subject a little, as I haven't seen you run and taking an educated guess. Looking forward I would look at footwear that does not use dual-density as its support system. EG: Brooks Transcend 5 (using a guide rail) and Mizuno Inspire 14 and Horizon 2 (uses a wave plate splitting the EVA components). Just two examples, however, you need to ensure they are in the mileage category you require. Or your footwear options would open up considerably if you decide on heat molded orthotic such a form-orthotic. You can then consider I wider variety of neutral shoes.
      I could help you out further if you have the ability to film yourself running down a hall-way and email me the video. josh@sportitude.com.au. From this, I can then better diagnose your gait and point you in the right direction.
      I hope this has been of some help.
      Please let me know if you have any questions.
      Happy Running.
      Josh

    What is the difference between gt1000 and gt 2000?

    • @SportitudeAus
      @SportitudeAus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Allan,
      This is a great question and one we get often - apologies for the delayed response.
      The GT-2000 features more GEL cushioning in the forefoot and convergence GEL in the heel which essentially allows the GEL to be closer to the heel offering more shock attenuation.
      The GT-2000 also features a fluidride midsole which included a soft-top layer over the arch support providing a smoother transition.
      Both the GT-1000 6 and GT-2000 6 feature a guidance trusstic through the midfoot, please note that the GT-1000 7 released in July 2018 will not include the trusstic, rather a full ground contact outsole.
      The GT 2000 is built for the runner who likes a bit of everything. Meaning someone who is all about the mixing up speeds and cadence which evidently will vary the force that goes through the foot every step. Responsive under the foot and gives plenty of energy kick back through toe off. The GT 1000 is built like a Kayano, or a de-specked version. Has a good amount of cushioning the whole way through. Will take a higher load under the impact zone and will not act as responsive as the GT 2000. The arch support in the 1000 is more prominent without the soft-top layer and is therefore a stiffer shoe which can be beneficial for certain types of runners.
      The 1000 in my eyes is one of the most under rated shoes on the market. Great stability and cushioning. Feels like a good mileage shoe under the foot and will not break the bank at point of purchase. I look at the GT 1000 and the Kayano and split them by: hours of use a week for running. The more serious runner, 4 plus runs a week (Kayano) VS a running 1 to 3 times a week (GT 1000).
      I hope this has helped with your decision. Any further questions please let me know.
      Josh.

      Hey Alexandra,
      Thanks for watching our comparative review.
      The last on all three shoes are semi curved, not straight lasted.

      Hi Josh!
      Thnx a lot for feedback.
      Can you recommend models with a straight last?

    • @SportitudeAus
      @SportitudeAus  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a problem. First thing I need to ask. Are you looking for medial support as well as a straight last? Here are are options with straight last split into support categories:
      Medial Support/Motion Control
      ------------------------------------------
      Brooks Beast
      Brooks Addiction 13
      Asics Gel Foundation 13
      Neutral
      -----------
      Brooks Dyad 9
      Saucony Echelon 6
      Different configurations above. The Medial to Motion control support is for an excessively pronated foot type, requiring significant assistance through the whole gait cycle. On the other hand the neutral straight lasted shoes, provide some medial support, purely through the amount of shoe under the medial side of the foot, with without using dual density foam to build up that support.
      Are you an orthotic wearer? Also have you been recommended a straight last from a health professional? Podiatrist or physiotherapist?
      Let me know and hopefully we can narrow down the options for you.
      Josh.

      @alexanders4911 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Josh!
      Thnx a lot!! I am very grateful for your feedback!
      I am not an orthotic wearer or have been recommended a straight last by a professional.
      But I think my feet are flat footed. Most Nike shoes (Pegasus, Zoom Elite, Streak, Structure) for example feel very awkward for me and they seem to be (very) curved.
      I would like to find a neutral lightweight shoe that is not curved or at least not too curved. The Saucony Breakthru 2 works ok for me.

    Just got the 18 a few weeks ago and took it for an 8 mile walk and the soles already show signs of wear...imagine if I were running 😳

      Hey Kittenpisces,
      Thanks for watching and sending through your comments on the Adrenaline GTS 18. Out of interest I would really like to see the wear on the bottom. That is really unusual for an 8 mile walk. What surface did you walk on? If you get the chance to send me an email please do: attention Josh service@sportitude.com.au
      Thanks

      Check the Amazon reviews which are popping up more and more since I got mine. I think all those groves on the bottom are too thin so the catch on the road.

    • @SportitudeAus
      @SportitudeAus  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kittenpisces,
      Thanks for the feedback. I will have a read of some of the Amazon reviews. The Adrenaline 18 is almost at completion with the 19 less than a month away. So lets hope that brooks have addressed some of the issues from 18. I have not had a return within that amount of time in which you experienced. Very unlucky.
      But again I appreciate your feedback and a brand like Brooks are always taking on advice from users and putting them into the mix for manufacturing the next model. To give you an idea of how far ahead most brands are. They are working on Adrenaline 20, and putting pen on paper for what the 21 may look like. Its a competitive game this shoe industry and feedback such as yours does not go unheard.
      Thanks again.
      Josh

      Just wanted to say that overall the comfort of the shoe is great. I purchased the Nike Torch 4 in January 2017, when my office was doing a pedometer challenge and these were the most comfortable shoes I had ever felt (I have flat wide feet). As you know it is very har to find these now so that’s when I started looking around since that challenge prompted me to start doing 5ks (did 10 from Apr to Dec). This year I st my sites on 10ks and hope to do my first half marathons this Dec! These Brooks so far are the most comfortable but my only issue is the wear and also the added friction caused by the felt like material on the insole 🤔. Been getting hot spots on the ball of my feet with no success with taping...honestly if Brooks could look into the bottom sole threading and design of the torch this would have been perfect for me! Gonna try wearing liner socks to see if that helps. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Mizuno or asic,good for marathon???

    • @SportitudeAus
      @SportitudeAus  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Berastagi,
      Its like asking Pepsi or Coke?? Which brand is better? Its a great question and I get asked this every day.
      To answer this properly you need to really dial on what you are looking for from your shoe for a marathon? Whats more important to you? Is it cushioning, contact time foot mobility etc. As there are shoes in both brands that potentially might work for you.
      Once you have have narrowed your foot requirements then I and a store could dial in on which shoe is better for you. I have always had a soft spot for Mizuno. When I was recovering from a bad knee injury 7 years ago, only the Mizuno felt nice and reduced the stress on my knee. They have progressed well and had some tough times over the past 5 years with engineering changes which put them back. Asics always been a solid running brand in Australia at least.
      Have you been fitted for your shoes previously? What was the scope the running store gave you? Also whats your current running shoe you are using and what do you like and dislike about them? This will help me point you in the right direction.
      Thanks again for watching and sending through your question.
      Happy Running.
      Josh
