    Their reasoning behind the “softer” post in the K30 is that it actually has a more responsive (bouncy?) nature in that spot. It’s suppose to take you out of max pronation during your gait cycle faster as opposed to being a bit stuck there.

    • @q20a08
      @q20a08 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, they claim it sorta 'rebounds' you out of midstance quicker, rather than being a limiter. Matt might want to go all science on that. I can't tell if those are just marketing claims, or if it has anything behind it. The appearance could partly be intended to send 'traditional stability' signals.

    The K30 is a better walking shoe, the GT2k is a better running shoe.

    Looking forward to upgrading my newly beloved GT 2000 10. In a year. When it goes on sale. I'm still enjoying the 2000 8 Trail as well, even on the road. The Kayanos are my medical shoes when I need extra protection recovering from running in cushioned shoes like the Tempus. Oh man, the things ASICS could do to the DS Trainer..... With this evolution a new DS Trainer will knock Hyperion GTS out of the ring. Just think, Having the new Kayano for slow long, GT 2000 for daily, a new DS Trainer for speed work? Make us old folks happy!

    Another good video. I really like the comparisons of stability shoes, especially when a company produces two versions. I am a long-time GT 2000 fan. My question concerning version 12 is how firm is the medial side (post). Version 10 had a moderately firm post. I switched to the GT 4000 v 3 for that reason (has a firmer post than the 2000 v 10). Is the GT 2000 v12 medial side (post) similar to the version 10 or 11? Lost of versions here, I know.

    copped my first pair of asics gt 2000-12 today. felt the kayano's were too stiff and chunky to be daily trainer for speed and miles as opposed to the 2000-12. sized up and they felt really natural and springy, similar to my OG pair of adrenaline gts 21s

    Thanks for your always great reviews! I've always loved the Kayano, but the K30 has a pretty big heel to toe drop, 10mm. Slightly too much for my liking. I see the GT-2000 12 has an 8mm drop. Might have to transition to that shoe instead.

    I’ve just bought the kayano 30 and I was fitted and measured and now frustrated as my little toe feels restricted and I can feel my toes touching ends when foot falls forward. With all the focus these days on spreading one’s toes and strengthening feet and having room, I wish ASICS would give more space for toes when everything else fits so well.

    • @caddycallaghan
      @caddycallaghan ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I did. I am happy that the ankle and the arch support and rest of the shoe are good and very much help with impact but yeah toes still shifting forward too much and tapping. It’s really frustrating but then again, I’ve been working with all the foot strengthening, toe spreading exercises and bare foot work so I reckon the classic trainers just aren’t made for this foot health adjusting awareness ?? I really want the best of both worlds, the good support with the flexibility of enabling full foot movement and spread

      I've had the same issue too. I've run in gt 2000 11 before, but wanted a more cushioned shoe for long runs. I did have an issue with the shoe being a bit on the small side, but the side of the gt 2000 is flexing enough to not make that a big deal, but kayano 30 has a very hard edge around the toe box for some frustrating reason, which makes my toes on the side hurt. I guess I like you, would prefer shoes with a bigger toe box. I don't get why the big shoe brands make narrow shoes and doesn't give wide toe box options like altra for example.

      I had the same issue with Kayano 30 after my first 24k run. My toes are hitting the front of the shoes so I am going to move half size up. I don't understand why shoes companies make the toe box so narrow. Can't they learn from Altra?

    I went for the Kayano 30 size 44 wide version. It had a much roomier toe box and better cushioning. Perfect for me who use my Kayanos for daily long walks and a 5 km runs once a week. I doubt the gt 2000 is as durable and pleasant to walk in daily for long hours during work etc.

    I'm quite interested in the new Hoka Gaviota 5, as a Kayano 30 competitor. It supposedly has a roomier toe box than your typical absurd Hoka. I like 'wide platform' stability, and also need a wide fit. Would love to see enough competition develop, in this segment, to keep prices within Earth's orbit.

Kayano 30 does feel more bouncy and cushiony but I don’t if that’s a good or bad thing in order to help fix this overpronation. For context I walk a bit duck-like 😂and my big toes slightly point out. Slightly hoping the GT 2000 12 is better because they’re cheaper but willing to pay for 30 kayanos if they’re better. Any advice please!!
