    FYI: Harlequin Pottery is as old as Vintage Fiestaware- it was introduced by Homer Laughlin in 1936 and sold exclusively through Woolworth Company.

    Buy a book about Bonsai. There are several styles of shaping the tree. You can start cheap by buying a tree at any big box or nurseries.
    Majolica was invented in Italy by artist Dellarobia. I have seen a pair of busts of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. For the process being the late 1400s, nothing being made today matches the color intensity.
    Art school taught me to pronounce cloisonne like cloy-son-nay. The cloi part is the same as cloister.

    • @McMurphyxxx
      @McMurphyxxx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Daniel, in France we pronounce it clo.a.son.nay - from cloison. But it's like déjà vu, at the end everybody knows what you mean 🙂Have a nice day!

      I so wish you would start your own channel, you have so much knowledge & could teach us so much! Have you ever thought about it? I'm sure it would grow quickly..:)

      Thanks for your compliment. I don't think that a channel is in my future. I have Parkinson's disease, drop a lot of stuff and have a tendency to fall. What I do recommend is to watch some of these channels that deal with antiques, vintage and collectables. I also think that it's good to understand design in any field of the above. It's ok to buy because you like something, but it's better to know why you like it. This opens up a variety of different ways to increase your sales. Always remember that it ain't got to go to your house. But the best at the best price and you will rarely go wrong with the resale.

    • @LindaKayHolevas
      @LindaKayHolevas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@danielclaeys7598 - I am sorry to hear about your Parkinson's, that has got to be a struggle for you So many of us take our health for granted, & that is a good reminder to be thankful everyday for the small things, like being able to get out of bed & walk across the room. I so much appreciate you taking the time to answer me, as I highly respect your opinion. The advice you've given me is like gold, I've never really thought about why I liked something, but that makes a lot of sense. It seems the older I get the more I want to learn about everything around me. I wish I had the same drive when I was in school long ago, but better late than never I suppose. Thank you again & God bless & keep you.

      If the glass is realy affected there sadly is no remedy. I bought a beautiful vase to resell, thinking I could get it clear again, unfortunately it did not work, so now I can not sell it because it is still cloudy. You can take a chance when something is realy cheap, but not with the more expensive stuff.

    For cloudy glass, I tried the denture tabs, vinegar, CLR, toilet cleaner(it's acidic to remove build up), and even scrubbed it but to no avail. I have 3 pieces of vintage glass that looked like they cleared up a little but once they dried the cloudiness was back D:

    • @timhazeltine3256
      @timhazeltine3256 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sometimes the glass has been etched by chemicals like automatic dishwasher detergent or the chemicals in hard water. If that's the case, there's not much chance of getting rid of the cloudiness. Dishwashers should not be used for older glass or ceramics as it ruins the finish, clouds the material, and etches the surface, it also pits and removes metallic trimwork, like gold plate rims.
