    Good comparison but it would help if you noted the settings used on the P20 Pro because it goes beyond a point and shoot camera. The P20P for the most part takes the better photos but I did prefer the candle shots on the pixel to focus on the flame rather than the candle details.

    Thanks, a very interesting comparison but you could dwell a bit longer on each still and video so we have more time to compare. I am interested in the video record sound quality. A lot of good camera phones are let down by the microphone. Case in point the LG G4 had a great camera but thin recorded sound, Samsung was much better sound quality. BTW is that Tubbenden Lane I see :-)

    What was the color profile used on the p20 pro? Smooth and Vivid options blow out highlights like crazy. Standard color option has very good dynamic range , and is like a different camera compared to the other two.

      @chibiichen 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm wondering too. Do you know which color mode is pre-installed when using the camera? Is it standard?

    • @drzoidberg1
      @drzoidberg1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe Vivid is the default setting.

    Nowadays pretty much every flagship phone takes amazing shots and in the end, it comes to personal preference which one's the best. You learn to love a phone's component because of something else that device has. For instance, the Pixel 2XL wasn't the best looking phone out there when it came out, but people overlooked that because of the camera and software experience.
    Anyway, Google has to do a lot more work on the software processing of the Pixel 3's camera because there's too much oversharpening for the photos and the low light videos look terrible compared to the latest iPhones for example. And the video capabilities are a joke for phones in that price range. 4k30fps at the end of 2018?! Seriously?
    Anyway, nice video nonetheless.

    It is worth pointing out, that in the recent FW updates on the P20 Pro, the camera app is significantly worse. As long as the subject is still, the photos remain solid. However, with moving subjects, you will find that most of the photos will be slightly blurry. Even in ideal light conditions.
    It is possible to get around this using the "pro" mode, however it takes time to set it up and the moment you want to catch will have passed in the mean time.
    If you are thinking about a camera phone in terms of catching moments of your little ones, avoid the P20 Pro as it will only disappoint you. Also consider that Huawei has a fairly appalling track record in terms of updates.
    On a final note, the EMUI android skin is simply dreadful compared to real Android.

    Shit. Of course hardware is an essential trick in phones, but this video tells me that google knows how to process images and huawei does not. Well... worth it paying 100EUR for 40mpx which performs worse than pixel 2? I don't think so.

    • @slandgkearth

    I bought P20 pro because of this video to replace my broken Pixel 3axl. Oh boy how much I regret my decision. The P20 pro pictures are heavily edited especially when capturing human face, even when the beautify mode is disabled. The video quality on P20 pro is inferior to Pixel's too. Also the night mode, pixel rules.

      I own the P20 Pro. I have not used a pixel 3, but I can tell you, without a doubt that the P20 is rubbish. It is easily the worst android phone I have owned since the original versions of Samsung's touchwiz. It is really that bad.
      Huawei also has ZERO support. They will make a note of your issue, but never offer a solution.

      @@pablomax3045 That's how i feel after pre-ordering the huawei mate 20 pro and returning it after a week... it is bad. I have returned to my pixel 2... and I plan in buying the pixel 3 during black friday sale.

      It all depends on how the modes are setup on the P20 Pro. Taking the beauty level down to about 2 on when using portrait mode usually give very good results. Also try using Aperture mode for portraits you might feel differently about it. All my comparisons are done against a Fujifilm x-e2 with various lenses. Although a better camera it is an extremely close call if the Huawei P20 pro is set up correctly...just as anyone would with a "proper" camera.
