I’m from the South and the old money will wear a pop of a bright color, like a teal or bright pink, so I agree this is taste and maybe culture. Queen Elizabeth II loved some bright colored outfits and she looked so cute in them! The royal family is very wealthy, too.

Husband and I were discussing that today. We went to an upscale wine and dinner tasting at a restaurant a few years ago. Sat with a diverse group of couples. One couple arrived late. In their late 60s. His wife had a bohemian chic going with a colorful caftan of linen and an antique cashmere stole and Birkenstocks. He had the vibe of Jimmy Buffett, complete with teva sandals. Awesome couple. They flew into the private island airport on their own plane they owned. He was in oil and they were late arriving from the Keys. They were hilarious and absolutely charming and didnt give a fig about how they were dressed.

@@TFMuhamet YES. But I don’t agree with them necessarily being new money. It’s old money that doesn’t have to give a fig. I sold high end art to the very rich.Never a label. Vintage vehicles they have had for ages . One guy had hair in a braid and those big black earplugs , he could pass for a street person,. An art collector in the U.S. lived in his family home by a river , dressed in sweats and drove an old Woody .They either dress modestly to avoid being seen , or dress in outrageously wonderful things. Like the fabulously rich lady who came to a gallery opening dressed like a monarch butterfly. Eccentricity is common cause they can ! Not having to work or fit in , they’ve got choices . That’s my observation anyway …

I'm so glad there is variety in the world and hope it stays this way. Just go with your tastes with a combination of what looks good on you. I've been thinking about getting a color analysis done so I can be better at picking clothes that suit me best rather than caring about quiet luxury. Just picture going somewhere with lots of people and they all have only these colors on.. it should seem uniformish.

It’s not just about the colors but the type and quality of fabric and the suitability for your body type as well as impeccable tailoring, fitting and lack of wrinkles. Most importantly is your own body language that exudes quiet confidence through your posture and demeanor along with your attitude and interactions with others. The reason that some of these colors are tied to the rich and royalty is due to historical dye costs. The deeper the color the more expensive because it sat longer in the dye baths.
As for neutrals if you spend thousands of dollars on one item of clothing you are going to want it to last. No fast fashion. It's going to be classic styles that can match various other clothing items.

Seems like we have more freedom than the rich...thank you for explaining that through this video.
Also that they care more about appearing rich than we do, if that limited palette is what they stick to, despite being rich.
Alright, i know thats not what this video wanted to say 😊. Just my morning mood, i guess. I was a bit surprised to even find those colours in my wardrobe, although I'm not rich. I guess we just pick what we want to wear, in the end.
I wanna look stylish, not rich, really. Some of the old money English wear absolutely horrible clothes. I would never try to imitate them.
The fascination with the rich isnt universal. Most of us are happy with our lives, such as it is, and dont believe the rich are doing way better. They just have more money.
I would copy artistic people, musicians, stylish people, and maybe some intellectual people who also look smart. Wanting to look like you're artsy, intellectual or talented is also pretension of a kind. Maybe we hope that people cant tell 😅. But its fairly easy to tell the rich from the non-rich because its definitely not just their clothes. Its their lifestyle. So why would anyone try to look rich ? Its fools no one.

Wrong. Not everyone can wear camel, black, white, as well as many other colors. One has to discover what colors best highlight their skin tones.

It’s not about looking wealthy. It’s about gratitude for the life we have, how we can improve the quality of life for everyone and enjoying the beauty of all the colors God gave us. He will clothe us in the glory of his pure and lofty ideals. Superficial desires are the reflection of an impoverished soul. Seek and follow truth and you will be rich indeed.

Non sense - the author highlights colours such as olive, moss green as forest green & beige as Carmel
As some one mentioned even Royalty such as The late QE2 wore bold vibrant colours such as Red , Yellow and Purple with vibrant red being one of the colours that suited her to a T.
Colours of Royalty - Gold, Purple , Burgundy, Ivory ( Cream), Deep Green ( Forest /Emerald Green) & maybe Deep velvet Navy

Wealthy people buy expensive clothes that are meant to last for decades. These colors have been around forever and always will be. Hence old money. If you like a trend color go for it, but don’t break the bank on it. It won’t be worth the space in your closet for more than a year or two.

I have cloths from my youth and even from my mother that are 30, 40, 50 years old and still look great! Great quality clothing that is well maintained can last for decades and even maintain a beautiful vintage appeal. When I tell people that my blouse is 50 years old, they are often very surprised!

I prefer to wear colors that compliment my skintone amd hair color. Coincidentally, navy, gray, black, burgundy and white are in my palette. As well as silver, light blues, mauve and dusty pinks. I love the creams and tans, but they dont look good on me. I don't care to look wealthy. Just classic looks with a twist, and complimentary colors.
