I'm pretty sure they could if they just paid the people who translated it. It honestly doesn't bother me too much, I just thought it would be funny if they went and changed everyone's names.
I'm sure a big corpo like capcom wouldn't have much trouble finding the disbanded translation team and coming to an agreement that probably wouldn't even cost them anything. But nah. Guess we gotta let go of the names we've known for 10 years so that "Eustace" and its fans can soar. Good thing the french official translators were less wimps and actually kept Courtney's name almost the same in French
@@billy-the-butcher You make it sound so easy. They have to find EVERYONE to make sure they are compensated. If the people they do find end up omitting a team member (either innocently or maliciously) and that team member come out of the woodwork suing Capcom later, the whole exercise would end up an expensive waste of time for Capcom. In comparison, just making their own names up like they've always done in the past ensures they can't be sued no matter what. Capcom is a big corpo, but corpos do not like wasting time and money in court. And whoever in the business got them into the court room (like say a Capcom executive who insisted it be fine to use those fan names) would soon find their employment head on before the axe. EDIT: There is also the whole thing of what happens when they can't make contact with some team members. All it would take is one person not reaching back to Capcom to make Capcom give up on the idea. Because Capcom isn't going to just assume the people they fail to contact for compensation won't turn around and sue them later.
Would you mind if I incorporate your epic poses to my future videos? I might make my own ones aswell since I already did some on Cody. You really did a great job on Sebby and nobody will convince me that he‘s an useless Whiner! Also did you get the new shouts of him including Hold it and Take that? Since I got them from the original VA of Sebastian in the fan translation (who I am in contact with btw :D).
The share codes are in the description so have fun. Also, I didn't make these, they were pulled from Discord. They are new codes because of some nonsense with a recent site update, so I don't know if Sebastian has the new voice.
This video is very mean-spirited. I guess that's what I get for clicking a Mellow Filmmaker video even remotely related to Edgeworth. Also. The new names aren't THAT bad
Me: Franziska has done some pretty bad things that she should apologize for. Fans: Oh yeah, makes sense. Me: Edgeworth has also done some pretty bad things that he should apologize for. Fans: Why are you being so mean-spirited!? You need to tag this as bashing!
@@TheMellowFilmmaker You tend to believe Franziska WOULD apologize but Edgeworth wouldn't. Why does she get redemption but he's the same asshole from Turnabout Beginnings?
@@eway44 This comment is a lot. I'll go through each point because there's just so much wrong. "You tend to believe Franziska WOULD apologize but Edgeworth wouldn't". I think that Franziska would be a little resistant to apologize. She might apologize if she was called out, but she might need effort to get there. Now I have had Franziska apologize a few times. The premise of Bonds of Fate: Turnabout Forgiveness has her apologizing to the people she's wronged, but that was a special case. That story takes place after Spirit of Justice and Franziska has spent years in therapy causing her perspective to shift. Franziska is someone who suffers from self-esteem issues and is in search of her value. She was raised to believe that her value could be earned by proving herself superior to others. During the time skip, Franziska realized she could earn her value by positively affecting others. Before she could do that though, she feels she needs to undo the harm she has already caused. I don't know if you read Turnabout Forgiveness, but the Franziska in that is a more mature version of her. I had her apologize in The Halloween Party, but it was made clear that she had some character growth in that too (She at least gave up the whip.). I additionally had her apologize in Franziska Went Too Far, but that was a case where a traumatic situation caused her mask to fall right off. In both cases, Phoenix did make some kind of connection to her and validated her struggles in some way. Now would Edgeworth apologize? In general, he would probably be more likely to apologize for something than Franziska, but I do believe he would hesitate to apologize for threatening to cut ties with Franziska if she quits prosecuting. Why? Because doing so would require a radical shift in his worldview. Ever since Justice for All, Edgeworth has been dedicated to his prosecuting philosophy like a religion. That's why he threatened to cut ties with Franziska. Edgeworth wants Franziska to follow his beliefs. He has canonically valued spreading his philosophy over Franziska's mental health and the physical health of his friends. He stopped Franziska from giving up the whip because that would mean giving her prosecuting career; therefore, decreasing the likelihood that she would learn "her lesson." He stopped her from making a positive change in her life in exchange for the possibility that she would someday agree with him on prosecuting. He's also ok with his friends getting hurt over this. After giving her the whip back, Franziska has used it on many people, including Edgeworth's friends. Edgeworth never thought "It's my fault she still using that", he just stands around and does nothing. He even goes the extra mile and stops someone else from confiscating the whip. Apologizing to Franziska would mean him admitting that his worldview is wrong. It would mean him admitting that there are more important things in life than his philosophy. It might even mean admitting that prosecuting is just a job. I see him being very resistant to apologizing for that very reason. "Why does she get redemption but he's the same asshole from Turnabout Beginning?" Oh, the Irony! It hurts! What you're saying is ironic because in the canon material, it's basically the opposite. Edgeworth gets all the character growth and Franziska gets table scraps. Franziska got screwed out of getting character growth in her debut game because they wanted more Edgeworth. Edgeworth's tragedy is emphasized while Franziska's tragedy is ignored. It's funny that you're getting angry at a single fan saying negative stuff about Edgeworth, but you don't seem to care about Franziska getting screwed over by the narrative at every opportunity. Also, why are you bringing up Turnabout Beginning when I'm calling him out for actions in Farewell My Turnabout. That's some classic straw-manning. Edgeworth has grown past his behavior in Turnabout Beginning, but he hasn't grown past his behavior in Farewell my Turnabout. In Turnabout Begining he was an underhanded asshole, and in Farewell My Turnabout he is a moralistic asshole. There is no evidence that he wouldn't repeat his actions from then. It's interesting that none of you are able to actually defend his actions. You have no justification for him weaponizing Franziska's fear of abandonment in order to control her life because there is no justification. His actions were abusive and hypocritical and I'm well within my rights to hate him for it. Honestly, you have no reason to get mad at me for calling him out unless I have a point. Most of the other people in the fandom are constantly kissing his ass, so it should be ok that I don't. You're not going to shame me into liking that asshole.
@@TheMellowFilmmaker You don't need to like him. But this video's title and thumbnail didn't at ALL give the impression of a "lets shit on Edgeworth" video Also, I brought up Beginnings because the way you write him is just...no character development. Exactly like his personality in Beginnings.
