It was because of the Act of Settlement passed in 1701 to secure a protestant succession to the throne for perpetuity, that all the future monarchs will be protestant COE. It was vital at that time because of the tension conflict and ensuing turmoil in those times before that whenever a new monarch of the other side (protestant or roman catholic) came to the throne and then an entire swarth of govt officials and peers, as well as the common folks, found themselves on the wrong side of the state (monarch's) religion. (e.g. when Mary I took over the throne.). So that's how the throne after Anne was to passed over other roman catholic claimants to the nearest protestant successor Sophie Electress of Hanover (grand-daughter of James VI/I and her descendants - she died before Anne and so the throne went to George I. So in those times, it was unfathomable to have a potential queen who was roman catholic (and the possible implications of the children and grandchildren brought up as such too. His mother was a Russian Princess, he speaks Russian, and he looks like the last Russian Tsar. He is very popular with the Russian people, so of course he was accused.
The question is, why is his spouse’s name/title Princess Michael of Kent? I believe that it has to do with marrying a divorcee. The same likely didn’t apply to King Charles III for his spouse Queen Camilla because he was heir-apparent likely to ascend to the throne. I conclude that Queen Camilla could have been Queen Charles III. On another note, I love his birthday, July 4th as the day is Independence Day in the US. The title of song “The Star Spangled Banner” is a patriotic description of the US flag. The title itself is a brag and the song describes seeing the flag from dawn to the last gleaming of twilight on a battlefield where it was hailed, likely the fight against the British for Independence. The reason why I am thrilled with Prince Michael of Kent’s birthday. It seems like he hold the true opinions that the British Royal Family have in regards to the Russians and given the fact that the Duke of Kent recently relinquished the title of Colonel to the Scots Guards to The Duke of Edinburgh, I wouldn't be surprise if in the near future, Prince Michael of Kent receives some title of importance to the Church of England, Canterbury Cathedral and Supreme Governor of the Church of England like the President or Speaker of the House of the Church of England because the importance of Kent in Canterbury Cathedral located where it is to avoid overthrowing King Charles III spiritually meanwhile London hosts Buckingham Palace where the monarch is expected to reside
He is the second son of the late Duke of Kent who was killed in a plane crash in WWII. at quite a young age. The oldest son became the present the Duke of Kent (as I believe as a 3 year old) and so became Prince Michael of Kent as a baby and therefore his wife is Princess Michael of Kent. The fist son of a Monarch is always the Price of Wales, the second the Duke of York and possibly the third usually Duke of Kent.
@@lindalou8120 It may deal with age/birth and possibly marriage especially a divorcee. He married his wife in his adulthood however. The one issue with her was that she was a divorcee so it has to be that reason. Plus he has a low profile intentionally to allow such a title for his spouse. Don’t you agree?
If you aren't born a princess you cannot be styled Princess. It has nothing to do with divorce. Princess Michael can't be styled Princess Marie Christine as she was not born a princess. Princess Diana was incorrectly called that by the media, the palace just never corrected them. When Prince William married Catherine, the palace said should the media call her Princess Catherine they wouldn't be corrected. Even after you were told no that it was owned by the Duchy you actually argued with them and told them you knew what they did not. When you were asked to simply Google it, you actually said you don't do research work for other people for free. How is anyone supposed to take anything you say as fact when you can't even do it yourself?
The rest is, as they say, history... until times finally changed in recent times..
I don’t think you are taking into account the income from the. Duchy of Cornwall when you speak of Kate’s “worth”!
He's great, his wife not so much!
He looks like a Russian . He and his wife together look they are from 50's they have that kind of beauty
I know like Roger Moore but much more than Roger Moore and far more sophisticated in life!
“Royalty” is obsolete.

That's "The Princess Pushy" to you!

Please don't use the expression "worth more". If you mean he's richer, say so.

That's what the phrase means and most everyone knows that. This is a common way of talking about financial worth.
@@shut-yuh-rass it also has anothrr meaning, the opposite of worthless.
Prince William has a distinct similarity to his cousin however many time removed. Family resemblance always fascinates as to where it may show up.
I’m not sure the Kent’s have always been too popular!🇬🇧
That was only due to his wife being German. Sentiments when they got married were still very much anti Germany.
I like von Reibnitz! She said it often...like IT IS!
His older siblings are more "popular". His wife was known as "princess pushy" for a very long time and had the gall to wear a blackamoor brooch to a family dinner to meet Meghan for the very first time. Ugh.
@@chemrebel Blackamoor brooches are quite popular with the upper classes and used to be more so in the past. Please do the research and find out what their significance is. They depict a prince which is most obvious when you look at it, not a servant! The man who made them popular actually explained it to the masses after the incident because people didn't know what its significance was as you don't. You can find it if you search. It's about trade between Venice and the Middle East. Unfortunately, because of "wokery", you have to dig a bit because most of what you find are false claims of racism about it.
She also wasn’t popular because she has made statements over the years about the royal family, claiming she was more royal than them and that also has made statements that some would consider racist. None of the royals like her but have to tolerate her because of her husband.
Who is HE
His wife is Austrian, not German, and he lost his place in the line of succession because she is Roman Catholic.
the police will be accusing him of being openly royal
So how is the King these days?
He was born in November 1948, so he 75
he is ill, and having treatment. Easy enough to find that out.
@@glen7318 yes but it would be nice if the palace would just put out regular updates especially if he finishes a course of treatment or there is good news. I just dislike guessing who's the sporty royal and the distraction away from the two royals I know are ill.
Catherine, Anne and Edward’s worth individually is far in excess of that of Prince Michael of Kent. Change your script writer quickly.
Poor Michael, if he's been doing dodgy deals you would epxect him to make more money than Anne who plays by the rules and Edward who is a bad businessman
Your facts are incorrect!!!
His wife is Austrian, not German.
Wo kommt der ganze reichtum her? Sollten sich die briten mal fragen. Mit fleißiger arbeit nicht. Es hat sich doch keiner die hände schmutzig gemacht oder 40 stunden am bau gearbeitet oder an einer kassa im supermarkt

@dorotheahayes8213 My daughters worked as supermarket " checkout chicks" whilst getting their degrees. All doing very nicely thank you very much.
Most of the people in my neighbourhood working the checkouts are students doing their Bachelor, Masters or PHD.
I have a nice chat whenever I go to my local shop.
Ganz genau 👍🏼 Hamster!
Why do you keep saying he was a cousin to the late Queen when he is also then a cousin to te current King! He’s a cousin of Harry and William also.
Нам вокруг Британии нужен забор
I consider Prince Michael of Kent "old school" royalty and he is needed to restore some kind of balance to the family traditions. I know the monarchy is changing but the younger royals can learn quite a bit from Prince Michael, his wife and others from that generation. God bless him and his wife.
dont be silly he is old and ill, and has had to retire because of dubious business dealings
Known best as rent a Kent . Both he and his wife are grifters and will do anything for a buck .

To the inappropriate wedding! 😄😄😄
It wasn't to the wedding but to a, "Meet the New Girl" dinner or something like that, and "inappropriate" isn't correct, either. Blackamoor has fallen out of grace thanks to woke panic, that's all. It isn't anything I personally like, but it's not "inappropriate". There's been plenty written to debunk that myth, but going with the mainstream is easier, I guess... 😉

"Prince Michael of Kent accused of selling Kremlin access"
@bornicks2 - maybe just gossip, too! The kind of gossip to destroy the Royal House or HRH!
His mother was a Russian Princess, he speaks Russian, and he looks like the last Russian Tsar.
He is very popular with the Russian people, so of course he was accused.
@@505LandOfEntrapment If I remember well, it was proven.
Ironically the tune to the Star Spangled Banner is from a British drinking song from the 18th century, "To Anacreon in Heaven."
@@arnett91972 what are you talking about? The correct titlte for Pss Michael is PRINCESS MICHAEL, because she is not a princess in her own right.
Too bad they don't correct the media for constantly calling her Kate Middleton, even after over a decade of marriage.
Passion for russia? No thank you
Yah, but isn't his wifey as status-conscious & elitist as MeghanMEG-A-lomaniac??? 😡
