Welcome to Alaska! My wife and I moved Anchorage 2 years ago from Florida and love it. We pulled our fifth wheel here from Tampa. We like to camp a lot and realized early on that most of the state, federal and city campsites were for rigs under 35ft. So we sold our beautiful rig and got something a little smaller. Since then, no issues finding cheap sites and boon-docking. I hope you have a wonderful time here!
I was there 2 years ago for 13 days, me and 3 other friends camped in tents 9 of the 13 nights. We rented a SUV on Turo for 2,400, and then did a lot of stuff, 3 nights in Denali, overnight drive to Artic Circle, awesome day riding ATV's to a glacier, halibut fishing and 2 nights in Homer Spit and several days hiking in between. The most expensive thing was paying to get our fish back to the states, roughly $28 a pound. Not counting my airfare to get there but including all the fun cost me about 200.00 a day, worth every penny!!!!! Enjoying the videos!!!!
You guys are bringing back the best memories of my life. I was stationed at Ft Richardson 81-83 and 85-89. Spent a lot a time in the outdoors on my off time. You guys should be more careful though. Black Bear especially. You should have at least bear spray and a air horn on your person at all times when in the outdoors. If a bear is close enough to spray that is too close! You probably noticed a lot of locals are most likely packing. Be careful and your dogs.
Wildlife isn't lurking around every corner. You have to hike away from the roads to see the animals. Chatting with locals helps whenever you travel to explore the area and get the deets.
Another way to ward off bears is to tie little bells to your shoestrings. The way to tell if it’s dog doo or bear, is that beat poop has tiny bells in it and smells like bear spray!
Pichole Creek Campground in Glacier View is a good one for cheap. Great view of Matanuska Galcier and close to zip lines and hiking trails. Talkeetna is another good watering hole. If you do go up to Denali, check out Cheena Hot Springs just north of Fairbanks
If you're near Valdez the day I write this, go immediately to the fish hatchery and you'll see loads of salmon. Go during high tide and you'll also see many seals. It's free and awesome. They come to the hatchery the last week of July thru mid-August.
You should have talked to a local to find out when Salmon runs are. There are 5 different types of west coast Salmon and they enter the rivers and streams at different times of years to spawn. Salmon live on a 3 to 4 year cycle. When they hatch they head for the 3 to 4 years, then they return to the river they born in to spawn a new batch of eggs and then go off to die.
You guys don't know this, but I've been following some of your videos, and ALL of the Alaska videos. I have to say, I'm a little envious of you guys. We've been RVing for at least 40 years, but it's just the last 5 that we have gotten more serious. Now we are looking at retirement, and that will mean a change for us. We are going to sell what we have now, and get something small to call home, but do MUCH more traveling. We have a 36" ft 5th wheel that we LOVE. Alaska is HIGH on our list. Keep having fun RVing, and THANKS for your videos. Who knows....we just might cross paths south of our border in the winter months.
I have lived in Alaska most of my life. I know that area pretty good. You did pronounced it correct. Homer is my favorite place in Alaska. Thank you for putting our state in the spotlight. Hope you enjoyed your stay. BTW, next time you are in Seward, try eating at Ray's Waterfront. Great seafood
Several years ago we were in Yellowstone staying at their expensive rv park and decided we wanted to take the morning photography tour. It was an early start - 6:00 A.M. - but well worth it. We saw a mother bear (grizzly bear not black bear) and her cubs, mule deer marmots, great blue heron and more. We were very pleased with the tour and felt it was worth the price.
We were just ahead of you in our AK adventures. We saw sheep, bears, goats, a lynx, eagles, moose, wild horses, cranes, fox eyc. to the point we kept a daily tally. The most abundant were mosquitos 🦟 , however. We live in Montana and were amazed at the roadside animals. Disapointed in lack of seafood. Expected it to be more like WA/OR seafare I guess.
Wonderful video. Thank you for taking us along. We enjoyed Alaska when we went in 2017. I will keep my fingers crossed that you will see salmon and bear. 🐻
Loved the video. One thing that the RV rental places in Alaska all rent Class C and under 29’ to meet the State Park and other non-paid campgrounds requirements and to be able to fit in most of Alaska. If you want to see Salmon go where you see people fishing. Looking forward to the rest of your adventures. Been up here 30+ years and have only seen one bear. That one sighting was a black bear running across the Glenn Highway in Eagle River. Be careful of the Moose. They have killed more folks than bears in the State.
What do you call a couple riding bikes in the Alaskan wilderness? … Fast food!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Love these videos, I doubt I will ever get there, so enjoying your journey!
I say the pretty fish in the water or "saoulmon" lol, between your channel and Open Roading I am getting my Alaska fill, I'll just tell the wife to watch both channels on the Alaska series and get her fill. and I'll call that resourceful and cheap. Thanks for Sharing guys your awesome experience.
hey guys! great video!!! i’ve noticed the editing keeps getting better and better!! your videos feel much more cinematic now lol😂 i love you both and hope you’re staying warm and safe!🫶🏻
We took the same road on our way north. No wildlife though. I just realized as we left the RV park this morning that you and your travel mates were staying in the same place! I would have loved to meet you all as I watch both of your channels. I saw Joe sitting on the porch of the business next door when we left. Maybe our paths will cross as we seem to be on the same route. Safe travels and keep up the fun, informative videos.
I just found your channel! I love it! I only live about 90 miles from Tallahassee. Im in Lakeland GEORGIA (not Florida). It's 20 miles northeast of Valdosta. My life's dream is to do what you are doing, traveling the US. It's been my dream since i was a teenager and now I'm almost 60 (and single). I'm about to have the financial part figured out but worried about break downs and safety and being solo. I will keep watching you guys for inspiration!
What great drone video it was beautiful. We spend alot of time in state park and hardly ever see wildlife. I guess when there so many people around the must hide in the area not on trails. Good luck finding better camp spots.
Love to see your adventures. Question ?? You have a drone why not use it to confirm spots and ability to drive down small roads and if there are tree branches in the way???
Glad you saw some wildlife. If you see a bear with cubs you better be careful! It wouldn't take much to make her upset. Be careful what you wish for. And moose are said to be one of the most dangerous animals. All this coming from a person who saw a bear and her cubs closer than 100 yards but thankfully we were downwind and stayed quiet, and moose came out of the woods and ran right past us exciting/terrifying fortunately they didn't react to us and kept going. And wow as I am writing this I keep seeing your thumbs up and # of views increasing every few seconds! So you're doing something right. You might have better luck later in July rather than earlier - not sure what date the video is. We say Samon. The L is silent. Don't ask us to make sense of that! Where there's salmon there could be bears. And you are correct, 30 mph. Your likes just went up by 65 after mine. Fun video y'all.
Hey guys! Thanks for sharing Alaska with the Brinkley! We plan on getting the Z3400 next year and we watch every episode for tips, tricks, and advice. It's nice to see the Brinkley can handle Alaska roads! We traveled there 32 years ago and tent camped most of the 3 weeks. Enjoy the trip and keep sharing! BTW - if you haven't mentioned this before, what model drone do you use? The video is fantastic!
You mentioned you wanted to see a bear with some cubs. When they have Cubs, they are super protective. Just calmly, turn Around and walk the opposite way.
Well, that is on my bucket list and hopefully I will do that. But we went to Yellowstone this year in May. I got to see six wolves nine grizzly bears all kinds of critters in Yellowstone. May is a great time.
Re-Starlink issues. Is there any reason why you haven’t utilized the WiFi at public libraries in the towns you’ve been staying in? 🧐Normally it’s free & you could stay open to close, charging areas available & comfortable surroundings.
Salmon travel upstream to spawn. Look for them in slow pools. They will jump to swim up the rapids. If you see bears waiting for them to jump they are there. Usually late spring. By the looks of things and how long it stays daylight, you have missed them
Thank you so very much for your videos. I am watching you as you started over a month ago. We too will be going and want to go on the cheap. Again, thank you so much for the tips.
I'm really enjoying the Alaska videos. I've always wanted to visit Alaska. I saw where y'all were talking about how fast a bear can run and Victoria was closest. According to Google, because Google knows all, they can run about 35 mph. Keep up the good work on the videos. God bless and safe travels
Nice video, if you drive by the Matanuska Glacier on the way home stop and do the guided hike to the top. It was our highlight of our trip and inexpensive compared to the rest of the stuff we did. The bridge to it was sketchy, but there was a bunch of big rigs there.
You pronounced Skilak correctly, fyi. Good job! I also notice whenever a tourist mispronounces Seward and it’s been music to the ears to hear you say it correctly, also. Looking forward to your impression of Homer! The locals love it. And Hatcher Pass as well, in the Matsu, but I’m not sure if you made it there since the drive to Denali is so long.
Reality is: Would you even think you could handle a bear close enough that you'd need the bear spray? I'd either mess my britches or have a heart attack at the same time. :)
Probably around the same times you take yours for a walk 😄 unless you work outside the home and then you can add a couple extra midday times in for ours
I'm so glad you got to see some wildlife-for FREE! Just like you, we totally thought we'd see more in Alaska than we have. (And we paid for some of those pricier excursions!) - K

We were in Alaska last year. The week of August 17th we were in Haines. We saw lots of bear. They were catching salmon in the river. We were very close and it was free to watch. Also, we were in Valdez the week of August 12th, and saw the salmon swim at the hatchery. There were thousands of them., also free. We saw several bears, but not as many as in Haines.
Oh man you found the spots then!! We were in Valdez too early, but everyone kept saying the salmon should be in “any time” lol. We definitely had our timing off but didn’t realize how precise you need to be!
We have Missionary friends on the Kenai. Might have moved closer to Soldotna now. They were here in Ohio and our Daughter worked with him at an Aviation Service locally. He’s always posting Moose in his yard pics! 😅

You beat me to this! I was gong to say that. 😂
We use our E-Bikes to take a quick look at a campground or boondocking location. That and a set of walkie talkies. Helps a lot.
Theres a tour service at Soldotna that we took over cook inlet and we caught Salmon then viewed Bears for two hours.
Pichole Creek Campground in Glacier View is a good one for cheap. Great view of Matanuska Galcier and close to zip lines and hiking trails. Talkeetna is another good watering hole. If you do go up to Denali, check out Cheena Hot Springs just north of Fairbanks

some great drone shots there at the end guys, and love Philippians, reading Ephesians right now.

It's called Bear Scat ... hope you see more. Depending on the season & what they have to munch on.
Seeing the wild life is fantastic in their natural habitat. Yum that cinnamon roll looked delicious. Enjoy your new adventures. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦

Thank you for the Scripture at the end. Sharing your faith is part of why i watch you guys
My husband and I ALWAYS PLAY SPOT THE WILDLIFE ON TRIPS… thanks for sharing the wildlife..
You should put some polarized sunglasses on to see into the water better. You can even put it in front of the camera to see fish on the camera better
Wonderful video. Thank you for taking us along. We enjoyed Alaska when we went in 2017. I will keep my fingers crossed that you will see salmon and bear. 🐻
Salmon - from Middle English 'samoun', 'samon', French ;saumon', Latin 'salmo' & 'salmon' - hence "samon"

Hey Craig: You don't need bear spray! Just be able to run faster than Victoria!!
LOL hey now!! -Victoria
Enjoy by staying in place longer., can you show us the solar / generator set up in use. ? I need to know for boondocking
Great video. Just installed my GenY , so far so good. Thanks for the discount!!
I mean your channel is called " wild RV life". Its much more satisfying to me when you find wildlife in the wild 😊. Carry on
What do you call a couple riding bikes in the Alaskan wilderness? …
Fast food!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Love these videos, I doubt I will ever get there, so enjoying your journey!
Breakfast or Lunch 🤣
Camp at Ninilchik Beach. You will love the sunsets there.
Strong Daredevil Kingpin music vibes at 18:00!
Just great video. Thanks guys.❤
Can you tell me where you got your camp chairs? Love the videos and the scripture at the end

Try using polarized glasses to be able to see in the water better.
Yes! Those do help!
Hey I came here to say that! 😊 Hubby has polarized and he always sees the fish.
Not sure when this was. The salmon spawning is a very specific time of year. They go back where they were born to spawn.

Need some polorized sun glasses to see through the water.
Love to see your adventures. Question ?? You have a drone why not use it to confirm spots and ability to drive down small roads and if there are tree branches in the way???

Love you guys! Y’all need to get out there and fish some.
I have been binge watching your videos the last few days. I don't even own a camper. lol. Love the content though!
That is a beautiful river. How’s the halibut still have a lot? Did Joseph get some.. thanks for the awesome views and info.👍

Hahah the only salmon we can find apparently 🤣
Just saw you two in Wasilla Walmart. 8/13/24. Welcome to Wasilla!
Drone pictures on point!! What a beautiful state.
Good stuff! I just picked up my Z 3400 yesterday. Alaska is on our roadmap in 2026. Keep your eyes peeled for Bigfoot!
Even though you didn’t see salmon- those were just beautiful rivers and streams!!
Thank you so very much for your videos. I am watching you as you started over a month ago. We too will be going and want to go on the cheap. Again, thank you so much for the tips.

And please don’t pronounce the L in salmon. Lol
Put starlink on top of tall pole affixed to rv ladder?
That’s how our starlink usually is, but there were too many tall trees around the back of the RV, would have been more obstructed unfortunately
you two are wonderful, keep safe and God Bless.
I love all you share ❤ Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much 😊
Yes -30 -35mph on the bears, they can cruise!
As a FL girl who loves the long daylight hours in the summer Alaska is my retirement go to!! ❤ But the mosquitoes!!😳😢
man, that sky looks pretty open. surprised you guys couldnt pick up a good signal...
Great video! 100 percent probably.
Lovely video, thank you!! Hopefully you’ll soon see some Salmón 🍣 Stay safe 🙌💛💛
We say it as salmon. 😂😂😂
That one was always tough for us too.
Reality is: Would you even think you could handle a bear close enough that you'd need the bear spray? I'd either mess my britches or have a heart attack at the same time. :)
When do you get your dogs out for a walk?
Probably around the same times you take yours for a walk 😄 unless you work outside the home and then you can add a couple extra midday times in for ours
Love the Happy Puppy
Was the campground half price with a National Park pass like in the lower 48 ? I’ve seen 14 bears this year, 6 in California and 8 in Yellowstone
I don’t think so because it was a state owned property
I'm so glad you got to see some wildlife-for FREE! Just like you, we totally thought we'd see more in Alaska than we have. (And we paid for some of those pricier excursions!) - K
It’s definitely been an eye opening experience 😆
Great video!! Stay safe!!! 🙂
Thank you! Will do!
Are you guys still in Alaska? Are you going to the state fair? I think I past you on the Alcan just past the border crossing....(That's before I found you on line)....I have driven the Acan 4 times...every time it was different, and I thing this was one of the worst roads from Destruction Bay to Tok
Why didn’t you guys just park anywhere in Soldotna near the Kenai River and walk onto the bridge and watch the salmon there?
Love the video series y’all!,
Another great video!
Such a beautiful area! I know you didn't get to see the baby Salmon but it still had to be worth the hike....but the bear....guys be careful 😅
I was hoping y’all had bear spray! Very nice spot especially for the price, a question though were the mosquitoes really bad at camp? Missed Joesph and Katlyn but it’s nice that y’all split up so we see different areas and adventures! Great video as always!
Local checking in. Keep tossing those tourista Benjamins around. That’s what we appreciates about you.
16:07 - you were literally pointing at the creek
Lol there was a creek but it was very overgrown looking 😆
The mosquitos ate all the salmon.😀

We have Missionary friends on the Kenai. Might have moved closer to Soldotna now.
They were here in Ohio and our Daughter worked with him at an Aviation Service locally.
He’s always posting Moose in his yard pics! 😅
Oh how cool! I bet they do wander through yards a lot. It would be a cool thing about living up here
@@wildrvlife
They liked to eat there plants, so they had to build their own Greenhouse attached to rear of house to protect their plants. 🤠
Another fun video!
Hate to tell yall this. But that black bear is the same in the lower 48.
Could you show us the break down of your costs seems like a lot
It looks like you guys have a clear shot at the sky so why doesn’t starlink work
Starlink requires a kind of clear dome shape towards the sky in order to not have any obstructions. Since it can see some sky, we had internet, but it would lag or drop very often. Basically an entire dome shaped around around all sides of the starlink has to be completely free of trees and this place had trees all around
